Since Hellgate London only lasted about 14 months before servers and forum closed permanently. 8 months after release Flagship Studios stopped subscriptions when it became clear they were going bankrupt.
I think that's a clear winner. Darkfall hasn't been released yet to even be included in this vote. As for the rest they still exist with a low playerbase. Hellgate does not. But hey let the ignoramuses vote as they please
Darkfall will be released in 5 days and we already know the bulk about it.
You know dick. Even if it fails at launch it could very possible be around for years. Other failed mmorpgs has. Since it hasn't been released or given time to prove itself. The option is retarded and more added for trolling purposes than anything else. You know it, i know it. Why else post a general question in the Darkfall section.
darkfall is the most failed mmo ever. Regardless of if it's out or not (2 days away). They are bankrupt and they are selling pre-orders for the 2nd closed beta and only have 1 server for 10k people. That's just as bad as dark and light.
I agree. AgtSmith appearently doesn't like LOTRO. But just admit you don't like it, instead of claiming bullshit statements about it being flop!
I explained I think it is a flop in the context of the bogus attempt(s) by Turbine to make it out to be some kind of WoW like massive phenom, it clearly is not and never will be despite the shady and misleading claims by Turbine (remember the millions of characters made claim and such). So LotRO, as I said, is a 'flop' in the context of fulfilling the marketing hype of Turbine.
By example, if some Hollywood studio went around advertising their new movie as the next Oscar winning best picture and and such things then failed to even get a nomination for an Oscar I would kind of laugh adn say 'flop' in that context, whether the picture made moeny or not is not the point.

Still the game hasn't been released yet. So it has no place in this poll (yet).
If this poll was put up next week, then it would have been a different matter.
Still if they manage to get 10.000 sheep to pre-order the game, pay for it and manage to let them faithfully pay a monthly fee for a while and them going to their church every sunday and praise to their almighty god Tasos who always speaks the truth.
Then Darkfall might be actually considered a success as they achieved their initial goal.
Disappointed to see PotBS on the list. I had alot of fun playing that game, although I spent alot of it PvE'ing, farming and questing, it was all the more exciting doing so in a PvP environment. Great game.
My vote would be for AC2, it should be on the list.
Tabula Rasa is certainly up there but I think it was somewhat obvious it was tanking well before it ever released to it didn't have the hype-to-heap element of many others.
Tabula Rasa should be up there. Several wasted years in development, a total makeover of the game midway thu that, a "famous" game developer that ended up ditching his own game...TR's failure owns on so many levels it deserves a spot on this poll.
I don't know what drugs you are smoking, but Darkfall's launch is being done amazingly well. They are an Indie company putting out a world class game and all of their advertising is viral. They were expecting a niche following but are getting slammed with a high demand because the MMORPG community is starving for a quality product. Darkfall is here to stay, you should try it out.
I agree with you, darkfall is a virus, just like sigmund.fraud, it could be around for some time.
To the OP, I am glad you placed SWG since not all disasters happen at launch. I also agree Dark and Light, Hellgate, and Tabula Rasa were huge failures at launch. Unfortunately for me, I went back to TR for a few months before the announcement and was actually having a good time (much better than the dismal beta a year before). Once the closure announcement went down, I just had to leave. At that point the time placed was mute, so...
Played (more than a month): SWG, Second Life, Tabula Rasa, Lineage 2, Everquest 2, EvE, MxO, Ryzom.
As for Darkfall being on this list... I can't really give a reply about it (Hard to judge a game i didn't play... but... news wise and time that took to develop the game seems like a disaster. As people said before it reminds me of DnL).
#1 - Vanguard without a doubt, it had something like 30+ million invested into it, and was a total flop really. the only reason its still around is SOE bought it as a firesale, paying pennies on the dollar to MS for the rights. SOE has turned it into a decent game, but its never going to really gain subscription base to fund expansions.
#2 - Hellgate London - This really isnt a MMO so shouldnt be on the list, but it was a subscriber based game for extra content. Game was basically DOA, and forced to release due to lack of funding, and frankly like most recent subscription games, waste of resources & money.
#3 - POTBS on a personal level this is a game i really wanted to succeed as it was based around teams and simulation style gameplay, with PVP & factional warfare. sadly they turned it into a chase the dubloon race, with minimal PVP content and lots of boring PVE/Grinding.
Darkfall cant be on the list, as its an unknown quantity at this time, some people say its doomed from the start, some say like shadowbane its going to be a great niche/team based PVP game.

The only problem with Hellgate: London is you can still play offline single player, so its not quite the same sort of disaster as real MMOs (which it really isn't).
Personally, I'd pick Tabula Rasa. I mean, it's officially dead! I enjoyed that game, though....but it was like some sort of Red Headed Step Child with the words "I am not your real child" tattooed on its forehead. Ah well.
You sure you weren't playing WoW? That's what I immediatly thought of when I saw the title of this thread. EQII is great, and not childishly cartoonish like WoW . Been playing EQII since the second day it came out, and it has pleased me no end.
I see you Vosarin!
Stop being a troll! (In RL too). WoW is a perfectly good game, even if you do not find the art style to your liking. It certainly is a more finely tuned experience than EQ2, although I have also enjoyed EQ2 in my day, so I am certainly not going to knock it.

Where is Tabula Rasa in this very failed and mismatched poll?

I went with Hellgate.
#1-Hellgate London
#2-Dark and Light
#3-Star Wars Galaxies
