Hmm can anyone remember when SWG went live. How crappy the game was and so. now all the vets are missing the old game.
why are people fighting over this game. I have been in this forum for quite some time, and on one side ppl has it as a religon on the other side people think its something made by the devil. vapor ware and bla bla bla. now its out and now its crap and the server bla bla bla
YOU KNEW it would have a bad launch. Wait until they have the time to fix all bugs. a month or 2 or 3 or 4 hehe. then try it.
DF as a game isnt bad, in fact its still in beta as far as im concerned, it lacks polish and needs some serious patching and re-evaluation on the many exploitive functions of the game, but its still amazing in its own right. DF might very well evolve from a flawed masterpiece to a perfect one over time. The biggest issue however concerns the people in charge of the game, they have absolutely no business sense and pretty much cannot be relied upon. They very well could continue to kill the game with their own stubborness/ignorance regarding how to treat and maintain a mmorpg. In a sense, they are too similar to funcom. I recommend to all players, dont buy Darkfall... dont be a lab rat testing out an unfinished problematic product. Let it sit forawhile, and watch its progress. If it starts looking safe, jump right in, but this is one of those mmorpgs where being there at the beginning is more harmful than joining later, much later, if its still alive, which i think it will be. I was in beta, and knew they game wasnt ready for release, but they released it anyways in the form of a pay to play closed beta in which only X number of people could get in. This is how they stress test the server.
This is pretty much the middle of the road view along the spectrum of polarised views so far. This also is my own decision. Leave it aside for a year or 2. I have been thru the VG saga, I do not want another VG.
If I fall for it once, screw you, if I fall for the same again, screw me.

Hm looks like you couldn't buy it and got upset a bit?
No, i deleted the client before pre-orders were available. I have no interest in paying for a beta i was just in. Im sorry if those who actually were suckered into the preorder game, but its not something to brag about. I actually feel sorry for those who preordered and were not in beta, they had no idea what they were getting into, which explains much of anger posts from pissed off customers. Furthermore, i believe this is one of those games that will have to be localized in order for pvp to be fair as more people play it, meaning, if im in NA, i want a NA server.

Nice try though.
Speaking as a person who did not play beta and has, since I preordered almost played the game nonstop, I compeltly agree with the OP.
U seem to refer to "anger posts from pissed off customers", id like to see an example of that, so far from what ive seen in game everyone is having a great time and every day is better then the previous.
About pvp balance, the game seems pretty balanced to me, ofcourse noone, not now and not during beta ever got the skills high enough to test the pvp balance so thats up in the air.
All most civil and decent folk in here ask of those who can play in their honest person opinions, it adds more food for thought for those of us on the fence. Thanks for your input, more food for thought is always good to try get my finger on the pulse of what the general feeling is on DF from those playing it.
* HIGH 5 * About time someone said something to give me a little more confidence about the game.
Still gonna wait it out a month or so, but none the less ill still try it. Although my morale sinks a little deeper with every post kicking the game in the nuts then shiting on its face.
good GM is not gonna come to you and ask you if you are speed hacking......not a sane one....usually they stay cloaked and watch your every move......why would they ask then check the logs.....that makes no sense

Exactly. Either is a lie from a fanboy trying in vain to make it look good, or its an indication that we have totally fubar GMs. Either way, it make DF look bad in this aspect.
Im also in love, the last couple of days have been the most fun ive ever had in a game. Me and my brother been out fighting and had some really good times. My kill count is 24 kills 5 deaths, most kills have been dwarfs I love killing those fatties. Last sunday i went alone to the dwarf country and i killed 4 dwarfs, one by one. I usually listen for mining picks or wood axes, and then i find the fatty, sneak up behind him, let him waste his stamina on harvesting, before i launch my halberd in his back...damn its fun
Yep, I am in love as well - I was in the beta and thought I would not be playing but then got thinking what other game has skills, free loot and freedom?
Bought the game, cancelled AoC and WAR - no regrets on my part because the game is more stable than WAR or AoC and more importantly more fun especially because you choose what you want to do and you're not limited by stupid class system.
The funniest thing about the DFO forums is that all the negative posts are comming from people that are not, in fact, playing the game with the most often bitched about item being the fact that the certain poster could not get into the game.
There are very few negative comments by people that are actually playing the game, that should give some of you "fence sitters" a clue.
In my opinion, one of this games biggest problems is the over the top hyperbole, from both the fans and the detractors. The titale of this thread being a perfect example.
I've now seen the game in action first hand, a close freind has been playing since launch, I sat next to him for a couple of hours worth of play session.
He is an old time UO player, he was a miner camping PKer pre trammell, and he loves this game. I suspect he is the exact target market.
First off pvp. Its 'good enough' . Somewhat simplistic (with the premise that no one has higher end skills yet, I dont know how much this will actually change), but everyone doing it is having fun, which is, to be fair, the whole point. How much of the fun is down to the new game factor only time will tell.
The game world itself is nicely done, large map, well detailed environment.
The rest is amateur hour.
Character models, animation, Mob AI , Magic progression , Crafting progression (both are simply rediculous grinds of mind numbing clickfests) , trading system so a player driven economy can actually function, and most of all customer service are poor in the extreme as the game stands right now.
The only question you should ask, is can the good of the first part make up for bad in the second.
Not for me, but for my friend , as I said earlier, it can.
If this game were not being charged at full AAA title money, I could perhaps look past the customer service failings, and some of the incomplete or badly thought out parts, but the truth is they are charging what Blizzard, SOE et al do. And regardless of how good you think any of those companies games are, they do have proper product support as part of the entry cost.
There are miniclip.com java games released this year that have more polish than Darkfall, so I cannot agree with the thread title.
If all that concerns you though is PvP with fulll loot, and you can look past its failings, you may enjoy it.

Another 'I have nothing to say to counter this so I'll post complete drivel' post...
How about you explain where I posted anything that isnt true.
I have seen the game running first hand.
I have played since launch and I disagree with just about everything you wrote.
Sounds like you watched a you-tube vid and decided to come here and amaze us with your insightful review...
So you dont think PvP is fun, you dont think the world is great, you dont think customer service is poor?
You didnt even read what I wrote, you just assumed I was crapping all over your beloved game and spouted your rubbish, when in fact I wasnt, and recommended it.
