i was comparing "end game" NPCs. Your dragon's to level 4 missions in EVE...and sorry, but eve level 4 missions require an infinite amount of thought more than hacking that dragon up.
This was the video. Originally posted in this thread by maxnrosy.
This one was killed by the mercs, and not by that *famous* WoW guild that no one seems to have heard of. There is however no reason to asume that the encounter went any different. And in the video, they actually kill it. I still can't make out anything on the screenshot posted here.
eww serenity now .that guild i recall only claim to fame was been infamous for been a-holes at some funeral in WoW ,so they now seek a pve dragon kill fame in a pvp game like darkfall but could not do jack in a pve game like WoW lol.
It doesnt seem to be a big accomplishment. Much less no stratergy involved. Just look www.youtube.com/watch The pve doesnt look as marketed. i dont see any brilliant ai comming from this mob. so did goblins only get a slight morrowind ai boost?
Looks a bit like toy soldiers slashing at a big rubber dragon toy.
To bad they have no animations for turning in DF. That would make it look a lot better.
Yeah.... I would not be using that video to promote DF.
Good grief that was bad.
The dragon was very bland-looking, rotated like it's sitting on a turn-table, and seemed to have one attack animation that I could see... which looked like a head-butt.
The attack animations of the players were terrible... It's like they're paralyzed from the waist down.
I've seen some videos and screenshots of DF that are *far* more flattering of the game than this. I hope no one uses that to promote massive PvE battles.
That said... about the OP.. Why all the excitement over a dragon kill? I mean, it's cool, but it's not exactly some world-shattering epic thing. Dragons are killed all the time in myriad MMOs; many are on "farm status". How exactly is a dragon being killed "great news for people interested in PvE"?
Between this thread, another one where someone believes large-scale PvP has somehow never happened before DF, and several others, it seems like some of the fans consider anything this game does to be some epic achievement in MMOs.
Most of it is pretty mundane and normal, actually.
I'm beginning to suspect one of these two scenarios:
A. Expectations were so low for this game that such basic things really do seem significant.
B. Some of the fans are deliberately exaggerating their reactions to make it seem better than it is.
I have a feeling it's more of B, with a bit of A mixed in.

Agreed. They've been waiting for this game for so long that they can't help but exaggerate the features that are mundine in other MMOs.

you're certainly right that PVE in other MMOs is mundane.
Anyone else would try and bury the video. Talk about enough rope to hang yer self wth...
you realise you're referring to a mob in beta that was bugged, right?
talk about hanging yourself indeed...
Ah so the dragon doesn't rotate round now and have dire animation ?
And thre players don't attack using the combined ... um.. combination.. of um one attack ?
Its all radically changed has it .. from a team of six to eight people half of whom have probably spent the last week manually entering CC information into global collection...
I really wish Darkfall fanatics would stop posting.... because everytime they do, I can't stop laughing.
In Everquest, if you killed a dragon, your whole guild stood behind it for a screenshot, because it took HOURS to get to him and it was a tough fight. Darkfall is an utter joke on the MMORPG community and should have the plug pulled for being so stupid..!
Id have to agree with Mr. Hand on this one, there should have been no way a dragon should have been killed even this quick. I don't care if there was 500 people attacking it. Dragons are badasses and shouldn't be taken lightly. Tail whip, breath weapons claw attacks all dangerous things let alone thick scales that the dragon has.

Who says that these are "end game" npc's?
lol
Please, please, stop derailing the thread into a "<insert game here> is better" dispute.
Where's the video of the dragon kill? Couldn't find the link to it, could someone post it for me please?

1) This dragon isn't end game material. Very easy and comparable to any random roaming dragon in western waste in EQ1.
2) Many guilds have killed him and he's not even worth a screeshot nor a thread about it.
Palazious <The Vindicators> Darkfall
Palazious r40, rr45 SW War
Palazious 50 Pirate PoTBS
Palazious 35 Sorcerer Vanguard
Palazious 75 wizard EQ
Paladori 50 Champion LOTRO
Poppa Reaver bugged at rank15

Looks like the dragon is made out of Southpark construction paper.
