Players that haven't been subbed to warhammer in the past 30 days and have been previous subscribers have been offered many bonuses to return, including 10 free days.   I know I will definitely see what has changed.

I wont going back for the 10 days, nothing has been launched that would change my mind about the lack of endgame variety

  • NewhopesNewhopes Member Posts: 458

Played on a friends account for a few days while he was away the games just the same as when I left so no I won't be comming back.

  • NeikoNeiko Member UncommonPosts: 626

Yeah, I got nothing to lose, and my friends are all coming back too. So I'll see what happens.

  • ObliviousXObliviousX Member Posts: 112

Yeah i'll try again to see if things got better, i doubt anything will have changed but i'll see.

  • popinjaypopinjay Member Posts: 6,539

Nope, because they are not really 10 free days. You have to pay for it, they just add the ten days to the end of the thirty you are paying for. That's why they ask for your credit card if you try and claim the free days.

    Read the fine print carefully.

One day, when it's actually free, I'll consider it. Until then, I no longer fall for dirty marketing tricks.

its 10 extra free days AFTER you re sub...

Im not going to make a new account only to get 10 free days and be limited only to tier 1....You can basically get past level 10 in a few hours of doing scenarios...

Is this true? I thought the whole billing cycle resets back to normal after the initial 10 days, and that you're free to cancel before then with no charge?

Looks like you're going to have a nice surprise in a few days, Night^^

Yeah, and go check out the fine print carefully. You do realize that Mark Jacobs is an actual lawyer, right?

    Actually NO, I didn't reactivate.

Ive been spending all day working with Square's garbage account system to get my old FF11 character back so that I may sell him for a nice sum to buy a nice new arcade stick for Street Fighter 4. Hell, even if I did I would have just told my credit card company to reject the charge.

I must be missing something. Here's what it says in the announcement:

Please note that returning players will need to reactivate their accounts and update their billing information when they re-enlist. No purchase is required for the 10 free days, which begins upon reactivation. You may cancel at any time during your free play, after which the normal billing cycle will begin.

That actually seems to say teh exact opposite of what you're saying.

Hope that clears things up for you.

That is pretty much how every free trial for an MMO works. I don't know why people act surprised every time it comes up. Most companies require full valid account info to log in and play, including billing info.

How do I reactivate my account?
To reactive your account, you must visit the Account Center to update your billing information.

Why do I need to enter in my credit card?
A credit card is required for verification and billing purposes. If you are concerned about recurring billing charges, please visit the Account Center to cancel your account before your gift of 10 free days of game time expires.

When do my ten free days begin?
Your free ten days of game time will begin the moment you reactivate your account.

It looks like according to the WAR faq page, that you provide your credit card info to re-activate.

Then you have to cancel your account before your ten days expire. If you do NOT cancel before the ten days are up, they are charging you with the credit card you gave. Is that how you read this, Stradden?

Because they say "recurring" charges, so I figured if you didn't have an ACTIVE account already, they'd charge you first for one month, then give you ten "free" days. Then if you didn't cancel, you'd get RECURRING charges each month.

I don't think they are as clear as they should be if that's the case. Confusing to say the least either way.

Is there some other fine print you are talking about because that is rather clear you have the 10 days free before they start to bill you.

    See the F.A.Q., that print.

EDIT: When you read the ad page, it say free. But when you click "For more info about WAR's Call to Arms: Re-enlistment, please see the full Call to Arms: Re-enlistment Program Details", it doesn't mention "no purchase is required" there. Usually that's the fine print that says what's what. Again, not as clear as they should have been if I'm reading it wrong. If I'm reading it right, there's going to be an awful lot of surprised folks next month.

I think you're trying to read too much into it.  I read it as, if you don't want to be charged the recurring/monthly charge for continuing your account after the free 10 days, then you need to go back into the account center and cancel before the free 10 days expires.

I'd imagine what you'd have to do is log into the account management page, click the "Activate a Key" link, put in the code for the free trial, and then  it would ask for the other information or to reactivate wiht the card information on file.  Granted this is hypethetical since I can't check it out myself as I am a current subscriber.

I thought the FAQ was very clear as well.  Not that it matters - the issue is sorted, in fact it was sorted while I was reading the FAQ so my post was kinda behind the times.

Not going back just yet.  I will in another few months when things have had time to settle.  I had more fun playing WAR than any other mmorpg but that fun started to waver quickly due to underpopulated or imbalanced servers.

I'm not going to spend another 15bucks just to see if the stupid RvR has improved or if the content is big enough to be "great"...as they said....or....nevermind I'm not gonna resub...maybe in a year or so.

Nope they charge you upfront. Its your 15 dollars PLUS 10 days.  Personal witness, I personally saw someone get tricked by this.

You do not get charged during the free trial. You will, however, get charged when the 10 days are over and you haven't cancelled the account by then, as it states pretty clearly. Saying otherwise is simply lying. My guess is someone told you that they got charged.......?

I reactivated her account. I put MY card info in and I reactived yesterday, the charge appeared yesterday. Yes, I check my bank activity everyday. No, 10 days hadn't passed. Not even 10 hours were passed when the charge appeared.

EDIT: but go ahead and believe what you want. I won't sit and argue with you, I told you as it is.

No. Gave war another shot for the 1.2, (account still active) was bored 1 day after. Saw the same boring RvRE in the servers, this is not daoc2, this is not even wow. War has the worst of the  2 games: the PVE of DAOC, and the PVP of Wow.

Now, looking for another PVP game. Can't buy DFO because of aventurine (unprofessional company), can't take another month to AOC (unfinished past tortage and too instanced for my taste; becomes a PVE game), daoc is empty... There's no games for pvpers. So i play Pve games

Account active to the 20march, canceled  1 week before the end of sub. I won't pay again for this boring and lite rvr. this is pvp for wow players, not for me. 1.2 patch changed NOTHING but we have now more issues lol. (a lot of lag, freezes and so on since 1.2 and server merging,  a nightmare)

Dude, whatever. I re-subbed with the trial as well. Haven't been charged yet.

Now, I could understand it might be a freak accident? Things like that happen (But they shouldn't). Contact customer support and get your money back. But stating its a trick by Mythic is very childish.

I didn't see a fine print anywhere, all I saw was this under FAQ:

From what I can tell you can cancel your sub right after you begin the 10 day trial, and still get the 10 days.  Some of you are either paranoid or just plain stupid.
