How are they thieves and morons.  They released an awesome game.  They had some account management issues due to the high demand.  People who are playing are having the most fun in their life.  Everyone in our guild loves it.  Everyone I talk to in game loves it.  Take your head out of your ass and look.  Oh, and I agree with your assessment of the other garbage MMO's out their these days.

I played DF. It wasnt very good.

The basic game mechanics are great, like open PvP and a very nice big world that is looking great and not full of evenly spaced out boring spiders...

If you need wood you chop on a tree, if you need ore you chop on a rock, etc, very nice and logical.

    Sandbox ftw!

But, the animations...? WTF?!? Are you shitting me? Its way past 1989 you know, comon!

And the sounds are equally boring and embarresing... Totally breaks your immersion into the game.

First you laugh, then you feel embarressed if anyone else might see it, then you feel cheated and get angry...

    Like someone said, Benny Hills...

Also, its turning out to be a gankfest...

So, you're agreeing that it's a negative part of a poorly thought out system?

Or are you saying both are good things?

Hell hath no fury like an MMORPG player scorned.

It's ridiculous how people refer to the game as being constantly "sold out."  You can't "sell out" of something that's only being distributed digitally.

"Sorry, fellas, we're sold out.  We don't have any more copies of the game that you can DOWNLOAD FROM US."

    lol wut?

  • dinomut05dinomut05 Member Posts: 39

its not that its sold out..its just that the U.S. stores dont want to pack their racks full of a crappy title..and thats the truth..you have to get it via digital download / or get ripped off on ebay with a fake copy.

you don't buy the downloaded software, you buy a license to play it (an "account"), duh. just like you don't buy microsoft windows, you buy a license to use it.

Darkfall continues to be sold out, mainly because as the thread says, it's awesome.

Funny. I can walk into a store any time I want and buy Windows right off a shelf.

And darkfall continues to be sold out because it takes awhile to disappoint a hundred thousand people 6000 at a time.

DFO is beyond sub par as a MMO goes. It will attract some, but the majority of people that were praising it before release and just after saying OMG DFO rocks etc, will grow bored of it. You can only take so much of the constant clickfest/disguised levels/ I m UBER you suck chat/ and basically a sub par game IMO. Yes I know some will rush here to defend it against what I just said, but I find it very interesting that the amount of people defending this game and raving about it have literally gone from 30-40 to well a few and we know who they all are.

what has that got to do with anything? the point was you buy LICENSES to software, not the software itself. besides, windows sucks.

If you are having the "most fun of your life" in ANY video game, I'd say you live a pretty sad life. That said, of course the people you talk to in game like it. The ones who didn't have already quit. And judging from the number of "I quit" posts I have seen, there are quite a few that didn't like it. One of the biggest topics of conversation in the Spellborn beta has been people who quit DF talking about how bad it is. Which doesn't say much about Spellborn, I guess.

Actually I m minimized from my game, the fact is this the fact is that. You have no facts, nor do I. All I m saying is where is everyone, playing my ass. Majority of players I ve talked to and yes alot are in game I have access to, say the game is from ok to crappy. Most WON T re sub. Take it as you will but thats what I m seeing. Now come tell me that your guild of 400+ and all the HUGE guilds in game say it s great, the best game on the market etc. I n sure you ve had enough time to talk to them all.

Yeah i was wondering what the next excuse was going to be, so far i heard :

    • I'm out of town ,can't play
    • Server down for maintenance
    • I'm at work, can't play
    • Queing
    • My wife won't let me play

Apart from queing the above post actually makes more sense and is more believable than all of those other excuses together

COMPLETELY disagree on crafting, like every feature in DF, crafting is horribly implimented. There is NO reason to craft anything, since that item can be obtained much easier and much cheaper from farming. The ONLY exception to this is enchanted items, which can only be obtained from (macroed) crafters.

That being said, for the people who liked the promised features, the only game better than this for them is EVE. However, just for the "fun" factor... I must say I kindof had more fun in WoW, never had I been more frustrated fighting with the glitches, bugs, imbalances, etc. In WoW if you had an imbalanced class, you lived with it since there was nothing you could do about it. In DF, if you want ANY form of individuality, you would be gimped, and you couldn't just "live wiht it" since the "mainstream" template is right there for you to access. This leads to WoW having far more individuality, customizeability, and character differences (even if there were only 10 classes (incl deathknight) that's way more than the ONE template you follow in DF)

With time though this game will blow everything out of the water, even the most staunchest cynic on DF agrees with that... but just give it that time guys, if everyone leaves the first 3 months of this game we will have to wait a VERY long time for something similar to come by us again

    When I'm at default I'm:

    WHITE/BLUE

Lol according to this I'm bipolar :O

That argument makes no sense.  You can't sell out of licenses or accounts either.

When you say something is sold out, it suggests that there isn't physically enough of something to meet the demand.  Which, if you're referring to DIGITAL MEDIA makes you sound like a fool.  It's like iTunes or NetFlix saying their sold out of something, makes no sense.

You're absolutely correct.  You can't be "sold out" of digital media.  But the DF fans are not really known for their superior intellect.

People are still arguing over this sad piece of software.  Lets take a summary of the arguments repeated by the defenders of this game.  Its getting repetitive and more and more incoherent.

First and foremost, the game is great.  E finito.  Period.  That is an opinion.  No argument about that, and of course, it means nothing to me.

Second, there are a lot of happy gamers.  Hell no, there are a maximum of 10k gamers who had paid for it.  That is not a lot.  Some of the 10k already indicated their intention to quit.  The game engine tells you that there are x thousand online.  That must be true?  The game listed x thousand names?  Do you talk to each of them to ensure they are valid players online?  If you can trust AV, there are no criminals on earth.

Third, I spoke to many happy gamers.  That is flawed argument on 2 counts.  You can only talk to so many people if you mean serious talking.  Assuming it takes some 2 minutes per person to get some serious exchange, not just "Hi".  You can only talk to 30 persons per hour, and that is 240 persons within an eight hour gaming session without drinking pee food or break.  240 persons per day assuming 8 hour gaming day and that is peanuts.  If you draw conclusion from 240 persons, get your head examined.  Moreover, those you can talk to are already in the game, they tend to defend their existence in the game consciously or subconsciously by trying to enjoy it.  If they cannot even pretend to enjoy it, they would have logged.  So asking them explicitly if they enjoy the game is a loaded question, you will most likely get a positive response.  In simple terms, you cannot gauge the quality of a game by randomly asking people inside the game.

Fourth, the game is sold out.  As clearly pointed out by many wise members of MMORPG forum, this argument is stupid.  You can digitally generate millions of license in a minute, and selling them over the net means little more than a bandwidth and a reasonable server that can take multiple orders online.  Each couple seconds of CPU processing time will bring in 50 bucks.  Only morons will have problems finding sponsor to pay for that subscription server.  Well AV is a bunch of morons, well illustrated.

Fifth, they are taking time to test out the issues before expanding the sub base.  This argument is flawed in many folds.  They can start pre-orders, and if they are honest they need not charge ppl for preordering, yet allow interested customers to register a copy over a span of time.  They can easily offer the game to serious reviewers if the game is so close to be playable, produce official trailers and so on.  They can easily find the money to build a few servers and expand slowly, and hence announce a plan on how they are going about selling their product.  Oh well, you cannot expect such common sense from AV, they are special and specially retarded.  Well, maybe the game is simply not yet ready for mass sales, and 10k is some kind of technical limits.  In that case, AV is charging some brave fools during their development cycle.  Good for both.

Sixth, AV is too busy to update their totally misleading website.  If a developer is so busy as to be unable to update their company brochure or web site, what do you expect from them?  Will they be a responsible seller, do they have plans, priority?  Hell no.  Even a crook knows when to change the dialogue after scamming enough people over the phone.

Seventh, those who have not played AV is not entitled to an opinion.  LoL, how do I know you have been playing?  What does playing makes you? specially bright? or specially blinded with passion?

Eighth ... oh enough is enough.  Is it still worth talking about this game?  Well for laughs yes, but even as a soap opera, it is getting old.  Fast.

Lol, ok read what I say. I said an account I have access to, not subbed to. I wouldn t pay for this crap ever. Second I never said you don t have to like it, I said the people I talked to have said it s crap. Just because I agree doesn t make me wrong nor you for liking it. As far as a survey, I play with most of these people from past games and guilds etc. I m going on what they re telling me not some stupid poll. I ll take their word for it and the account I have access to(NOT SUBBED TO) to relay to people how I feel about it. What you should do is stop trying to convince me and let the game speak for itself. I know thats hard to do for alot that can t even buy it.

Those have to be the funniest statements I've read in weeks.

"More impressive then any game on the market rite now"? What was the last MMO you played? Meridian?

    Silly fanboy.

Mobs are tricky to kill? I've heard the exact opposite about that.

Sorry, but Darkfall is not the only MMO that doesn't require you to rest before fighting another mob...again, I ask, what was the last MMO you played?

I'm sorry, but your post is hilarious and depressing all at the same time. Sorry Darkfall couldn't have been what it was advertised. I'll miss the good ole days of UO.
