Personally im still glad i didn't buy this game at release, but it's nice to know there is potential for it's development. I'm sure many others are still watching this game for signs of improvement as well. Pretty sure in 6 months we will have a much better idea of the future of this game.

Animations for example ... its just an eye candy thing...to fill the time and give you the impression of doing something while the game computes a result from a dice in games with no aim and autotarget ..
DarkFall you have control over you miss or hit and you doing the action namely swinging at your opponent why is there a need for fooling the eye and yourself in that "you doing something" ? ..these has at best some aesthetically value ...its cosmetic ..
Then these generic "mage is of no use" ...its to simple for a judgement over magic...i had the feeling he never tried to get in depth with magic and just used the parts of it that fit in his ranged/mellee style..

I was not giving weight to any of the factors that I listed in my review, I simply reviewed them. I didnt give the game a 6/10 because it has bad animations, I gave it a 6/10 because I have a hard time thinking of more pro's than con's for just about every category. Some people will care about graphics. Some people weight them very heavily, perhaps more heavily than other parts of th gameplay. I read the review. You have done a fairly good job on it.
I disagree with some of your opinions, but perhaps I view things differently.
One of the main areas of disagreement is regarding the "need" to macro.
The only people that "need" to macro are those that have no idea of what a sandbox game is and have been so conditioned by years of themepark play that they can't help themselves. By trying to powerlevel this game, they miss the whole point.
I don't macro, I just play my toon. My toon becomes better over time, in all areas that are part of the style with which I am currently playing.
There are other areas of your review that are somewhat incorrect factually, but overall, it's ok.
(Just so you know. I rate Darkfall, taking into consideration that it is freshly released so I am only looking at the core of the game, as an 8 or 9/10.)

I have a different opinion ..Op has put sieging as pro as one example.. "Sieging" is IMO very important, it is clan content , it can be seen somewhat as "end game" content , and it is so much activities included with it , for a single player, for a whole clan, and for big alliances..300+ people and 60 clans have been recently involved in these acttivity for 6 hours in such an event...
It is important for the game this to be fun and good implemnted ..OP puts siegung obviously as Pro ..someone can say the main clan content and a very important feature so everything could have just build around it ..and that has no more weight then other things ?
So i am allowed to have these opinion or will i contiunue to get bulyied in these thread ?

OP might not have the same view on whats important than you. and that will say that his 6/10 cant be discussed. you like PvP, and apparently you think this game got some of the best PvP ever. so you would propably give this game 8-9/10. i on the other hand am not the big pvp person, i like crafting way more. so i would maybe rate this game to 3-5/10 which of our ratings are the correct? both ops rating is as valid as any.

A great review. Darkfall could be really amazing if it werent for those issues you raised (inc the horrible combat). It still remains my no.2 MMO under TCOS for now,but if it improved a lot it could slowly edge to no.1.
I couldnt go back to something like warhammer for a large scale pvp game after playing darkfall.

Trouble is you're basing your 'statistical analysis' of the value of the OP's rating on completely biased data. Darkfall is an incredibly difficult game to even BUY, and it's such an obviously niche game that for the most part only people with a genuine passion for this type of game (FFA PVP full loot 'sandbox' etc etc) would really try to do so. Limit this potential population even further due to the graphical limitations of this game (which turn off many potential players), and by those people who were unwilling to overlook all the bad press leading up to the game's release (if you could call it that), the zero customer support, the low-budget beta videos etc etc.
What you're left with then is 10,000 people of whom an overwhelming percentage can be said to be the exact target audience for Darkfall (since that's pretty much what it takes to be currently playing the game). And of these people, in the survey you so lovingly quote, in the honeymoon period of the game's first couple of months, ONLY 66% believe that this game rates higher than a 6/10. That seems pretty dismal, DarthRaiden...

You are agruing that his opinion is incorrect based on your view of the game. You are saying that his opinion is WRONG. I prefer to not read what you reply. The fact that you've said that "it doesn't matter what's on their website, you are supposed to read the forums" before buying the product. I've dismissed you as a complete fanboi from that point on. Your logic is very flawed. You lack the basic concepts of understanding what a game company does, and is set out to due. You are brain washed by tasos, and it shows in every one of your posts. Yet, you constantly come in to any post that gives Darkfall an non-biased review, or any one that places it in the not so bright light you see it in, and tell them they are wrong. I used an analogy for you and I.

Sadly enough you've got point there Mr.Smith the only online game that i was able to go back after trying out Darkfall was a FPS even though Darkfall had only a fraction of it's promised features,IMHO, enabled and working as they should,not even my old trustworthy L2 had the same flare after but i may attribute this to the fact that i played this game from C3 and just maybe i got a little too tired of it and just needed a change.
However i find it is a sad day for the MMORPG industry when a game that is made by a amateurish (and i'm doing by best not name it otherwise) company as Aventurine, that is clearly unfinished, had something less than a smooth launch (i'm using euphemism again), an appaulling billing system,made people pay for beta-testing the game (and premium prices too WTF??) and a dim future just as some of it's shortcomings among others; CAN actually be counted as an original concept and be mimiced (succesfully too........maybe?.....hopefully?) the next time it's re-produced by a different company ,with a different name and hopefully a better attitude towards it's potential playerbase.
This is in no way a thumbs up for Darkfall i'm giving but a thumbs down (or the finger if someone prefers) to the rest of the MMORPG industry for the state it is in atm, Darkfall despite all it's shortcomings that were mentioned above can still be counted as a player in the industry just by using some old recipe(NOTHING NEW AND INNOVATING)by reviving a dinosaur and releasing it the modern world of MMORPG and for some reason i can't keep this damn picture out of my head whenever ithink about the above sentence

Animations for example ... its just an eye candy thing...to fill the time and give you the impression of doing something while the game computes a result from a dice in games with no aim and autotarget ..
DarkFall you have control over you miss or hit and you doing the action namely swinging at your opponent why is there a need for fooling the eye and yourself in that "you doing something" ? ..these has at best some aesthetically value ...its cosmetic ..
Then these generic "mage is of no use" ...its to simple for a judgement over magic...i had the feeling he never tried to get in depth with magic and just used the parts of it that fit in his ranged/mellee style..

Nice review, seems most reviews now have similarities and a lot of interesting views. Personally im still glad i didn't buy this game at release, but it's nice to know there is potential for it's development. I'm sure many others are still watching this game for signs of improvement as well. Pretty sure in 6 months we will have a much better idea of the future of this game.

I see what you say here ..but IMO a rating of 6 / 10 should be treated as universally ..it should match with any 6 / 10 ...that has ever been given to something and means "the game (or anything with 6 / 10) has some merits on his own, i am not indiffirent about it..i see slightly more positive in it then negative"

I didnt give the game a 6/10 because it has bad animations, I gave it a 6/10 because I have a hard time thinking of more pro's than con's for just about every category. Some people will care about graphics. Some people weight them very heavily, perhaps more heavily than other parts of th gameplay. Also i respect your rating and review but IMO we disagree on what things are important in the game .. you put some things in same order i wouldn't put.. i value those things you put as pro, by far more and see some of the things you put as con by far less important or even as not important enough to be mentioned for these type of game like animations..

I disagree with some of your opinions, but perhaps I view things differently.
One of the main areas of disagreement is regarding the "need" to macro.
The only people that "need" to macro are those that have no idea of what a sandbox game is and have been so conditioned by years of themepark play that they can't help themselves. By trying to powerlevel this game, they miss the whole point.
I don't macro, I just play my toon. My toon becomes better over time, in all areas that are part of the style with which I am currently playing.
There are other areas of your review that are somewhat incorrect factually, but overall, it's ok.
(Just so you know. I rate Darkfall, taking into consideration that it is freshly released so I am only looking at the core of the game, as an 8 or 9/10.)

I have a different opinion ..Op has put sieging as pro as one example.. "Sieging" is IMO very important, it is clan content , it can be seen somewhat as "end game" content , and it is so much activities included with it , for a single player, for a whole clan, and for big alliances..300+ people and 60 clans have been recently involved in these acttivity for 6 hours in such an event...
It is important for the game this to be fun and good implemnted ..OP puts siegung obviously as Pro ..someone can say the main clan content and a very important feature so everything could have just build around it ..and that has no more weight then other things ?
So i am allowed to have these opinion or will i contiunue to get bulyied in these thread ?

A great review. Darkfall could be really amazing if it werent for those issues you raised (inc the horrible combat). It still remains my no.2 MMO under TCOS for now,but if it improved a lot it could slowly edge to no.1.
I couldnt go back to something like warhammer for a large scale pvp game after playing darkfall.
I really enjoy playing Darkfall and I'd give this review a 10/10.
It's fair and accurate, and shows the warts and the good parts.

Trouble is you're basing your 'statistical analysis' of the value of the OP's rating on completely biased data. Darkfall is an incredibly difficult game to even BUY, and it's such an obviously niche game that for the most part only people with a genuine passion for this type of game (FFA PVP full loot 'sandbox' etc etc) would really try to do so. Limit this potential population even further due to the graphical limitations of this game (which turn off many potential players), and by those people who were unwilling to overlook all the bad press leading up to the game's release (if you could call it that), the zero customer support, the low-budget beta videos etc etc.
What you're left with then is 10,000 people of whom an overwhelming percentage can be said to be the exact target audience for Darkfall (since that's pretty much what it takes to be currently playing the game). And of these people, in the survey you so lovingly quote, in the honeymoon period of the game's first couple of months, ONLY 66% believe that this game rates higher than a 6/10. That seems pretty dismal, DarthRaiden...

You are agruing that his opinion is incorrect based on your view of the game. You are saying that his opinion is WRONG. I prefer to not read what you reply. The fact that you've said that "it doesn't matter what's on their website, you are supposed to read the forums" before buying the product. I've dismissed you as a complete fanboi from that point on. Your logic is very flawed. You lack the basic concepts of understanding what a game company does, and is set out to due. You are brain washed by tasos, and it shows in every one of your posts. Yet, you constantly come in to any post that gives Darkfall an non-biased review, or any one that places it in the not so bright light you see it in, and tell them they are wrong. I used an analogy for you and I.

Sadly enough you've got point there Mr.Smith the only online game that i was able to go back after trying out Darkfall was a FPS even though Darkfall had only a fraction of it's promised features,IMHO, enabled and working as they should,not even my old trustworthy L2 had the same flare after but i may attribute this to the fact that i played this game from C3 and just maybe i got a little too tired of it and just needed a change.
However i find it is a sad day for the MMORPG industry when a game that is made by a amateurish (and i'm doing by best not name it otherwise) company as Aventurine, that is clearly unfinished, had something less than a smooth launch (i'm using euphemism again), an appaulling billing system,made people pay for beta-testing the game (and premium prices too WTF??) and a dim future just as some of it's shortcomings among others; CAN actually be counted as an original concept and be mimiced (succesfully too........maybe?.....hopefully?) the next time it's re-produced by a different company ,with a different name and hopefully a better attitude towards it's potential playerbase.
This is in no way a thumbs up for Darkfall i'm giving but a thumbs down (or the finger if someone prefers) to the rest of the MMORPG industry for the state it is in atm, Darkfall despite all it's shortcomings that were mentioned above can still be counted as a player in the industry just by using some old recipe (NOTHING NEW AND INNOVATING) by reviving a dinosaur and releasing it the modern world of MMORPG and for some reason i can't keep this damn picture out of my head whenever ithink about the above sentence

1st. Is this game worth it's money in it's current form in the short run (just for a month maybe 2)?
