Yeah some crackpot hellhole with Bell, Pantex, TI, and oil. Not to mention a few military bases. IMO you have a very twisted view of Texas.
Floods, intense heat, tornadoes, hail the size of basketballs, humidity, jungle-sized mosquitos, dirt, dirt, and MORE dirt, militia groups walking around with guns, huge crime problem in their cities... my mistake. I'm sure it's a real paradise. Just not my idea of one.
Have you ever been here? It doesn't seem like it. This is where I live in Texas. Hardly looks anything like what you're describing. Actually, that's an old photo. It's growing while the rest of the nations cities are falling apart economically. Construction is underway all over downtown Dallas and our real estate values have not suffered hardly at all. And crime is down in record levels. About the only problem we're having right now is the schools. But trust me, there are enough people screaming about that to where I anticipate a quick turnaround soon.
So the city of Dallas is what the majority of Texas is/looks like.
Bush is in office. Liberals protest and work on getting more liberals back into office. Obama is in office. Conservatives threaten to take their ball and go home.
What would be even more hillarious is if they seceded and then we decided to wall off our entire southern border. It would epic beyond belief.
Liberals did nothing to get back into office, the republicans did that for them. They whined and complained and pointed the finger just as much as the republicans are now.

And showed up to vote.
Half of the Republicans couldn't even muster to vote for McCain.

Maybe they didn't like McCain. Whats that tell you?

so if texas does secede will they bring back slavery? if this did happen i think a few more southern states would go with them. of course a 2nd civil war would break out resulting in another southern beatdown, while this is going on britain and france will team up to take back the 13 origional colonies. of course russia will take advantage of this and invade from the north. and finally mexico and all of south america will come from the south completing our destruction. so when its all said and done britain and france will split the 13 origional colonies. russia will split some of the nothern states with canada when canada makes a deal to avoid war of any kind. most of the south will go to mexico and south america. the indians will be given a few midwest states. and california will sink into the ocean when the big one hits.
have a nice day
Interesting question, but think about what you said.
Who in this day and age would allow themselves to be captured and placed into slavery, knowing what their lives would be like?
What race of people would just sit back and allow themselves to be placed into slavery? lol. And where would you get the slaves from? There are no places left on the planet that doesn't know what slavery is unlike hundreds of years ago. The world court wouldn't allow it and Texas would lose it's right to soveriegnity. They would be like post-war Japan or Germany, unable to make any decision or wipe their butt without approval from another country.
Your proposition fails due to lack of vision.
first of all never underestimate the stupidity of the american people. there are enough stupid and raciest people in this country to try something like this. it may be unlikely but still possible. one thing they or another southern state mite try is kick out everyone who is not a white american. it mite not be slavery but since they wont be bound by the constitution any more they could make any crazy laws they want. now if any state does leave the american economy would colapse in an instant. obama would have to declare a state of emergency. but that wont stop the riots and anarcy that will happen. people are dumb, panicey, stupid animals. the us govermant wont have the personell or resources to stop the violence that will happen as a result of this. and texas wont be able to control the amount of people that will leave the us to live there. also some people will fear the worst and go to canada or mexico. now since the us borders will be closed no imports will be alowed in thus chinas economy will suffer. if violence does get out of control then the highest level us government people will most likely flee to another country to save their own asses thus leaving the people to fend for themselves. then again i mite be insane and just looking into this too much.

Really who would go to Mexico? Even though Texas is a nice size chunk of the American ecnomy I doubt it would bring the US to its knees to back out.

Perry is as much of an illrelivant clown as George Bush Junior was. While his NE Texas may be conservative, the SW part isn't. If he wants to secede he and his friends will get a nasty suprise.

So, when are you guys up there going to start packing then? Did the Gov outline an exit strategy yet?
Stop threatening the United States with seccession. You are all hat and no cattle. If you do not like the way the country is going and keep complaining about the direction, you claim you have the right as you say, in your 'treaty' that you signed with the federal government to begin seccession proceedings. What's stopping you?
So, will you please DO it already? It's getting old listening to "We should think about seccession" over and over again. Please go. You can keep all the oil there. You can keep the Gulf Coast. It's yours.. just take it and go. Hopefully, all the people who think like you in this crackpot view will move there as well.
Oh, and btw: You won't be able to get anymore United States aid from us either. You already took aid from the Federal Government 13 times since you took office in the name of Texas. So shut up or put up.
Oh quit whining. No one is going to really secede unless it turns into another civil war. The topic of seceding is brought up because it brings up a way of thinking that needs to be reinforced. Independence of the state as well as a reaffirmation that if you dont want open revolt, the government must tread lightly. Texas isnt the only state that has brought it up. Some blue states tried to make an issue of it when bush was elected a second time.
I think you forget that bigger government has only one direction to go, and it never ends up with "freedom". States are supposed to be, have been, independent entities who care for their own, have their own laws, rules, options and choices. You seem to miss the name of this country, "united states", meaning its not one country but a join "union" of independent states. Thats why historically, our nation is called a Union. The option is always there to break from the union, though i dont think anyone would in their right mind unless civil war happens again.
IN a sense, we already are in a civil war though, its fought politically and through intolerance. We are at this point where people actually put their political party above independent thinking and the health of the union. Its turned into sides, no thanks to support from the media, crooked universities that preach not teach, and over all brainwashing. The left, if you cant tell by the media and in rallies, literally HATES the right, even though they are countrymen. Before it was never like that, but the media and washington is helping create this idea of seperation, division, and interolerance of the other.
It can only get worse, unless something changes drastically. RIght now too many people, all over the world even, are just fools. Fools who have lost their indepenence, self thinking devoid of a banner in which they rally under. Once you turn it into side vs side, you lose out on the point of freedom and indepenence. Seceding will be a topic that might get brought up more and more as long as we continue on this path.
People have forgot the constitution, not everyone though, but most. They allow it to get trampled on, changed, while government gets bigger, they pay more and more. There is no excuse for the country thats known to be the most free, to also be the highest taxed in the world (or second). Haters of Bush and supporters of Obama cant seem to stay consistent between the two. Congress fails to even read the bills that are passed, and currently would love nothing other than to get rid of the concept of checks and balances. Its sick, a gross perversion of what the founding fathers, the leaders of the union, have created. To protect the people. Democracies die out, they burn brightly and die, this is why you will find out that the founding fathers wanted a Republic, not an excessive democracy. The usa is not run by a people, but by an oligarchy. Regardless of party, they use you, and without the option to talk about seceding, there can be no progress on reaffirming the core of what this UNION was founded upon...independence.

All hat, no cattle. Here's a good start to not taking federal socialist funds: Texas requested 29.4 BILLION in hurricane relief. Just tell Washington you guys thought it over, and you won't be taking this money either. You guys are wearing clownshoes- and rather large ones.
The day a Texas politician stops taking free money from Washington is the same day peace will be achieved in the Middle East at a pulled pork BBQ lunch with tequila shots.
Go ahead, split off from the country. But when the next big hurricane wipes you out again, don't come crying to Daddy for your allowance. I think Governor Perry and anyone else retarded enough to think like him on this will find it's fun to play "grownup" until you actually have to grow up.
Some of you people really believe the Texas people want to leave the union. I'm going to try to appeal to whatever you people have inside you can call decent.
You want the truth? Here it is and while Im at it, a little about what some of you have said.
I've lived in Texas all but three years of my life, I've watched the governors come and go and Rick Perry wont be any different. He came and now he'll go but Texas will always be here. I beleive the guy has good intentions at times, just gets caught up in himself like all politicians do. But I don't recall one Texas citizen saying we wanted out of the problems of our country, or that our loyalty to America is or was ever in dire question. We have a great love for our state and our country we just wont allow big brother to kick us around. That's how it is and always will be. We suggest your states do the same.
Then some of you brought up Bush, well sometimes sayin Rick Perry is like sayin George Bush, they go hand in hand...ya see sometimes they are caught speaking out of the south end of northbound armadillo. Such is the life of the politician ridin a wave, but in perrys case its a bull, a big load of bull but he'll jump off it soon. He did stand up for his state, and he did right, just went about it the wrong way but hey...we all make mistakes. We have well over 24 million people here in Texas, all hard working and very open to anyone who comes through and we don't believe in slavery, not racial slavery, economic slavery or any other kind of slavery although we all have to work to survive? No one will ever be forced into that situation here, atleast not while we are alive, we're just not that kind of people. Those days are gone and good riddance to them.
Yes we own guns, lots of us do, theres nothing wrong with that. We support the right to bare arms, many of us and our ancestors owned farms/ranches and many still do and those who dont may have chosen to buy acres of land and live on that so we feel we need firearms to protect whats ours and keep our families safe, Texas is a big place fellas with alot of people and not all of us are always the decent type sometimes.. So last time I checked there was nothing wrong with protecting ourselves. Hell we even support freedom of speech so you guys can come on game forums and down talk us for speaking against tyranny. Guys the government isnt the same anymore incase you havent noticed, it changed alot from some 40-50 years ago, but hell so have the times, most of you are too young to know that or just dont care to know for yourselves. So I'll leave that be but someday you'll understand.
Now this ol boy who posted above me wants to link to an act or bill or whatever on our account asking for money to rebuild, due to damage that was done to our coastal areas In Texas. Well what he failed to mention was that Texas took on more of our fellow americans from Louisiana likely than any other state when these dear people needed help, a place to stay, food to eat, water to drink and help with clothes. We did the right thing there in helping those people out, its the christian thing to do and we dont regret or stand embarrassed for a day of it nor do we regret asking for help from our country to help us support our fellow countrymen when they needed it. Truth be told, we would have done that for any state and any of our fellow americans. Again it was the right thing to do. So brother, dont attack us for helpin out.
And last, this other guy way back in the earlier posts talks about "liberating us Iraq style"
Bad form little brother, something in your life has your mind twisted, I hope you find peace inside someday cause if youve seen whats been done in iraq like some of us have and want to do those things to fellow americans, then you sir need to get to nearest V.A for help or are openly requesting a visit from homeland security. If I were you, I'd tone that ten cent trashtalkin down and keep it in video games cause in the real world, someone might mistake you for a domestic terrorist. Dont thinkso? read some of their latest releases on terrorist definitions, you sir just fit the bill, yes its that easy.
So finally, the truth is folks none of these states are saying they are going to literally secede, they are claiming the tenth and trying to rekindle in our government what our forefathers instilled into this country. Freedom and civil Liberties declared by the constitution/declaration of independance. We wont allow those things to be taken away from us and nor should you allow it to happen to your states people. If you think otherwise ladies and gents on perrys account I cant blame ya, He did come out and blabber on about secession but texas isnt a quitting state, I put my word on that. Just look up the battle of the alamo

I notice you are linking to blogging websites that are known for their inability to actually report actual information. One key thing to notice is that no references were given, coincidently if you follow the same argument you seem to be trying to make, you will find that just about every single state has "requests".
Thedailykos is known to be one of the biggest left wing koolaid making websites on the internet, in fact, if you read up, you will find that they have been caught fabricating lies, spreading misinformation, and overall taking advantage of gulible people. Yes, you are drinking their "Kool aid" as its referred to. Feel free to post links to reputable websites and factual information, not far left fabrication factories.

So, is it your position, claim or suggestion that under Governor Perry's term in Texas since 2000, that state has not requested 29.4 Billion dollars at the least thus far?
That's the short list. If we go since Perry has been governer in 2000, we'd be here all day with the amount of teat sucking the guy has done from Washington. Not once prior to this year, for NINE years total, did this clown refuse any federal government money of any kind.
April 17, 2009- Texas Receives More Than $2 Billion In Disaster Assistance Since Hurricane Ike. "Seven months into the recovery effort, with an enormous effort by everyone involved, we are seeing progress in Texas communities," said State Coordinating Officer Joan Haun. "Although there is still work to do, the federal funds have certainly helped us along the road to recovery."
Disaster Assistance In Texas' Galveston County Tops $465 Million. "More than $465 million in federal disaster assistance has been approved for Galveston County three months after Hurricane Ike made landfall. That's more than 34 percent of the total disaster-wide disaster assistance to date." ------------------------
I'm going to stop linking the amounts as it's getting embarrassing because Fox News probably told you that FEMA stands for "Facists Eventually Manage America" or something so you didn't bother to check their info. I'll leave you with this nice, tall, refreshing glass of socialist flavored Kool-Aid from FEMA. You look a bit thirsty for some truth. Of course EVERY state asks for federal money from time to time, duh. Talk about someone pointing out that the sun is hot.. thanks for the rhetorical information.
The difference is the state who is crying "HELP!" the loudest is the main one saying they don't need federal government money and might secede, because the federal government is spending too much. Talk about biting the hand that feeds you and irony rolled into one. California who's second, isn't THAT stupid. Even Ahhhnold knows when to keep his mouth shut, and he's in second place. There is no Texas if not for the federal government's intervention with money. There isn't enough IT or oil money in Texas to fix that by any stretch. Even T. Boone Pickens who has extensive dealings in Texas oil, knows that. It's one of the reasons why he's shifting his resources away from oil.
The problem isn't if Texas Secedes. Its if the other states that rewrote its legislation secedes with them. The combination of those 14 states account for over 60% of the US economy, most of them being states that provide more income to the federal government then the recieve. If they go, all hopes of Obama's budget go with them. Since not even the richest states couldn't afford what he is proposing on his budget.

Rofl, My position? Its simple. Get your information from known legit sources, not extreme leftist blog news that has a history of misinformation. You are all the same, using "fox" news as a means to categorize anyone who is not a libhead like you. Its completely irrational not to mention immature to try and use fox as a means to discredit and belittle another, as a means of tagging another, without any real knowledge. lol
As for the topic... your perspective is so narrowminded its not even funny.
now you are aware Texas is the largest state in the Union correct? This Hurricane is going through HALF of the state. Thats a lot of damage, and if it was in california, the entire state would have been consumed by it. Gee wiz, lets hate Governer Perry and all of texas for getting Fema aid because a hurricane is gonna occupy half their state. Sheesh.
You also have to take into account Fema's inability to react quickly, causing more damage and costs. God forbid Fema does what they are supposed to do.
Texas is one of the largest states that has to deal with natural disasters, you cant get around that fact. Tornados, wild fires, hurricanes. Why does it surprise you they have need for more aid? Im a californian, and even I dont understand why California is second on the need aid. In fact, california doesnt have to deal with much, most of the wild fires are away from residential areas, we havent had any major earthquakes in a long time, and a little bit of flooding in the north. The fact that this largely Blue state is so needy is worse, compared to Texas which actually needs it.
Furthermore, You really think its Perry behind it all? You dont know how it works do you? Mayors in their respective towns make the request, it goes up the ladder till it reaches the governer and he essentially passes it on to the federal government.
Now my guess is that you think requesting aid for a series of natural dissasters is hypocritical of Texas as a whole right? I suppose you never really thought about it huh? You are probably also under the impression that he called for secession, he never did. Ron Paul was flabbergasted by the fact that the media, including your sources, twisted it around to make him sound like a villian. Its funny.
The issue he had, along with many americans, is that impropper spending is being tossed around. Why should texans, californians, nevadans..ect pay for Pig Odor research for another state, or Canoe Trips for Hawaii, or millions for trash cans and clean up outside one states casinos. Theres a difference between aid money due to natural dissasters and taxes going towards uncessesary federal level fluff programs.
Finally, if you bothered to look at your links, you would find that the time tables go back years upon years, more of a total sum than a mere current tally, which really means nothing. The point is, use your head, and dont use one sided left hating right blog websites as a means to back up your information champ.
Did you stop and think that California is just second

May 1, 2009 -FEMA Obligates $18.1 Million For Debris Clean-Up On Public Beaches And Waterways. They are getting back less money they then are supplying to the federal government. The main reason why the fed was meant to be small is because of such a problem where states give up money and get little in return. To say a state like California which is 1 of the 14 states that made such changes would not secede because they get $300 million from the government when the state supplies them with $800 million is a gross miscalculation.

So the city of Dallas is what the majority of Texas is/looks like.
I stand corrected then, my mistake.

If Texas secedes, we should deal with it by following the words of the great and wise Dennis Leary:
nuclear-fuckin-annihilation.
Perry is as much of an illrelivant clown as George Bush Junior was.
While his NE Texas may be conservative, the SW part isn't.
If he wants to secede he and his friends will get a nasty suprise.

"TO MICHAEL!"
So please, stop drinking the koolaid.

"TO MICHAEL!"
Thanks for your time.
Good luck all and god bless.

One key thing to notice is that no references were given, coincidently if you follow the same argument you seem to be trying to make, you will find that just about every single state has "requests".

Yes, you are drinking their "Kool aid" as its referred to. Feel free to post links to reputable websites and factual information, not far left fabrication factories.
You do realize the left wouldn't win anything without the urban vote don't you? Instead of whole states seceding I think we should let the intelligencia have the cities with the high crime and pollution they like so much.

Here lets take a look at Hurricane Ikes path... http://www.iconocast.com/00012/W6/News3_0.jpg
now you are aware Texas is the largest state in the Union correct?
It's a sad day when even FEMA is considered an extreme leftist blog news that has a history of misinformation, and not a known legit source.
Still no links to sources you consider "legit", huh? Still can't find any?
We'll wait.
