    Pure fantasy.

If they had to pay for the cost of their own cleanups each season, they wouldn't have any infrastructure. That state would start to resemembe the inside of a Warhammer server's population if Texas had to bear every cost each hurricane/fire season. Not to mention pay for their own military (assuming they'd have one), or their roadway upkeep and tons of other things.

Until then, you might want to try the Darkfall forums. There's usually a lot of cursing and personal insults usually taking place over there when someone has no real point to push, but just wants to troll around.

Anyways take care, and sorry I touched some nerve somewhere in you. But you sure did Texas proud with your post by representin'.

I could care less about his bio, I'll leave the Inch High Private Eye stuff for you to go creeping around into people's bios.

Population totals are irrelevant. His point is that each state should pay for their own welfare so as not to put a strain on the country. If Texas were to secede, that would be quite a bit of savings each year. Texas is #3 so again I say to Perry, put up or shut up. Let's get some legislative action down in Austin or stay off of the television.

PS: What's a "keaster"? Is that anything like "Khristmas"?

So, is it your position, claim or suggestion that under Governor Perry's term in Texas since 2000, that state has not requested 29.4 Billion dollars at the least thus far?

FEMA's website. Texas financial aid and other assistance while Perry was Governor.

That's the short list. If we go since Perry has been governer in 2000, we'd be here all day with the amount of teat sucking the guy has done from Washington. Not once prior to this year, for NINE years total, did this clown refuse any federal government money of any kind.

A few of the goodies from his goodwill basket?

    May 1, 2009

-FEMA Obligates $18.1 Million For Debris Clean-Up On Public Beaches And Waterways. "Getting debris cleaned up from our beaches and waterways has been a major undertaking," said State Coordinating Officer Joan Haun. "These federal funds are providing welcome support."

    April 17, 2009-

Texas Receives More Than $2 Billion In Disaster Assistance Since Hurricane Ike. "Seven months into the recovery effort, with an enormous effort by everyone involved, we are seeing progress in Texas communities," said State Coordinating Officer Joan Haun. "Although there is still work to do, the federal funds have certainly helped us along the road to recovery."

FEMA Awards $58.2 Million Grant To Help Texans With Unmet Needs."Texas welcomes this much-needed program and is pleased to help FEMA formulate a national model for disaster case management," said Joan Haun, state coordinating officer.

FEMA Obligates More Than $26 Million for Debris Removal In Houston And To Repair Damage To Reliant Stadium Roof."With these Public Assistance funds, FEMA plays a vital role in our state?s recovery from Hurricane Ike damages," added State Coordinating Officer Joan Haun

Disaster Assistance In Texas' Galveston County Tops $465 Million. "More than $465 million in federal disaster assistance has been approved for Galveston County three months after Hurricane Ike made landfall. That's more than 34 percent of the total disaster-wide disaster assistance to date."

    ------------------------

I'm going to stop linking the amounts as it's getting embarrassing because Fox News probably told you that FEMA stands for "Facists Eventually Manage America" or something so you didn't bother to check their info. I'll leave you with this nice, tall, refreshing glass of socialist flavored Kool-Aid from FEMA. You look a bit thirsty for some truth. Of course EVERY state asks for federal money from time to time, duh. Talk about someone pointing out that the sun is hot.. thanks for the rhetorical information.

The difference is the state who is crying "HELP!" the loudest is the main one saying they don't need federal government money and might secede, because the federal government is spending too much. Talk about biting the hand that feeds you and irony rolled into one. California who's second, isn't THAT stupid. Even Ahhhnold knows when to keep his mouth shut, and he's in second place. There is no Texas if not for the federal government's intervention with money. There isn't enough IT or oil money in Texas to fix that by any stretch. Even T. Boone Pickens who has extensive dealings in Texas oil, knows that. It's one of the reasons why he's shifting his resources away from oil.

Declared Disasters by Year or State, guess who's Number One?

    Texas Disaster History.

Rofl, My position? Its simple. Get your information from known legit sources, not extreme leftist blog news that has a history of misinformation.

It's a sad day when even FEMA is considered an extreme leftist blog news that has a history of misinformation, and not a known legit source.

Still no links to sources you consider "legit", huh? Still can't find any?

    We'll wait.

    Okay, in all seriousness...

After reading this post and a couple of your others something occured to me. I have been debating you on such important national issues as authorization of torture, fiscal debt, and the direction of our nation.

When in fact, I should have been debating you on the importance or non-importance of the Texas public school system teaching today's youth spelling by sounds vs proper spelling vs correct capitalization usage.

I'll start a thread directly entitled "Texas public schools: Is America doomed?", where we can have real debate and you can give us your personal, first hand view from the front lines. There will be no links or facts needed for that one.

Hoap too cee ewe thair! Teak cair an gawd bless Texxas!

Yeah, I noticed the spelling errors too but didn't want anyone calling me a spelling Nazi. I guess they don't teach proof reading in the Texas public schools. Thank God I lived on the East Coast, went to a Catholic elementary school and had nuns who beat proper English into me! LOL

Floods, intense heat, tornadoes, hail the size of basketballs, humidity, jungle-sized mosquitos, dirt, dirt, and MORE dirt, militia groups walking around with guns, huge crime problem in their cities... my mistake. I'm sure it's a real paradise. Just not my idea of one.

Have you ever been here?  It doesn't seem like it.

This is where I live in Texas.  Hardly looks anything like what you're describing.

Actually, that's an old photo.  It's growing while the rest of the nations cities are falling apart economically.  Construction is underway all over downtown Dallas and our real estate values have not suffered hardly at all.  And crime is down in record levels.

About the only problem we're having right now is the schools.  But trust me, there are enough people screaming about that to where I anticipate a quick turnaround soon.

So the city of Dallas is what the majority of Texas is/looks like.

I stand corrected then, my mistake.

Well, seeing as you lumped all of Texas as being a certain way, I'm not sure I see your point.

But, we also have other cities that discredit your generalization of us.  Like Austin, Fort Worth, Houston, Amarillo, San Antonio, Corpus Christi, Lubbock, and so on, and so on.  Those cities alone make up a large chunk of Texas, not to mention they are pretty spread out all over the whole state to encompass pretty much an example of any area.

We have a large varying degree of climates too.  The climate in west Texas is incredibly different than the climate of East Texas.  And north and south Texas are definitely different from each other as well.

It's a big state.  And it's got everything from plains to mountains.  So, what was your point again???

What is this? West Side Story? Do you think this is high school recess, or after last period in the parking lot? What the hell do they put in the water down there, lol?

Feel free... in fact, I'll fill in the spots you miss. I'll help you flame Pennsylvania myself when it's needed. I wasn't born here, but even if I had been, I'm not one of those idiots who somehow feel as though the actual state gave birth to them.

A state is where I happen to live, just like a job is what I happen to do, a car is what I happen to drive and a game is what I happen to play. People getting their panties in a bunch over someone spitting on the ground or having giggles about a state crack me up immensely. I don't care about each individual state; it's the whole of the country I care about... the United States. These same idiots are the ones who curse people out for talking bad about "their" MMO; as if they actually sat down and coded the piece of crap. They take it personally when you say their games sucks and attack you as if you called them a turd, instead that turdy game.

If I moved to Texas tomorrow (God forbid), I wouldn't all of a sudden feel more or less loyalty to Pennsylvania or to Texas. As you so aptly put it, you are my countryman; not my statesman. We are Americans, so cut out the crazy secession talk, kick that crackpot out of office, and start working for the nation's common good... not just good ol' Texas.

This thread was started because I thought only Perry was loopy with all the "state pride" secessionist talk and nonsense about threatening to quit the team and go home, lol. It appears that there are more, but not all, crackpots lurking behind the tumbleweeds in the Lone Star state than I thought.

I feel a loyalty to wherever I live.  I feel a responsibility to my community.  I feel a moral obligation to the people around me and to making their lives better.

It wouldn't matter where I live either, I would do the best I could to help those in my immediate vicinity.  And I would have a sense of pride that I would work to spread to others as well.  That's a foundation to improvement.  Feeling good about your community and pushing for a sense of esteem at the work that we've done is awesome as far as I'm concerned.

I guess you think pride is for crackpots.  I don't though.  I think it's for people who just happen to give a damn about making things better.

Hey Wile E. Coyote, super genius....

You're #3 out of 54 states. So I agree... go ahead and secede.

It's a very distant third behind California, the liberal capitol of America.  California also sports a comfortable lead in most crime statistics and blows away the rest of the union in hate crimes related to race and sexual preference.  Blue state liberals at their best.

Must be a coincidence that the states with huge illegal immigrant populations have gigantic welfare roles. BTW, is there any nation I could go to and get some of this illegal immigrant gravy train? Maybe if I go to Mexico and say "OK here I am, pay me". Or does that only work in reverse...

That is a real problem down here in Texas.  And all the border states to be certain.

I teach in Texas, and let me tell you that it is a huge deficit that we have to deal with all the time.  I feel sorry for the kids who are here and I do the best I can to teach them all equitably, but there is no denying that there is a hard set cultural aversion to education when it comes to hispanic kids in general.

I hate it too.  Because they could be just as bright and have just as much of a future as the other kids.  It's just not an important aspect to them.  And it falls squarely on their parents and their culture.

You want to run a challenge with us, then you step up to all of us hereNot just one poster on this siteI could say some nasty things about Pennsylvania too (like the fact that you have a state income tax).  Isn't that where you're from?  But instead, I like to think of you as a fellow countryman.  Not someone to poke fun at.

But I guess that goes along with some of our good 'ol southern hospitality.  We are historically known for that.

    I feel the same way.

Being proud of where you live means you have a vested interest in its future and the people around you.  It means you want to be a part of what is going on and not just wander around thinking of no one but yourself.

    I get what you're saying.

Where do you think "daddy" got that money in the first place Mr. smartypants?

When someone steals your wallet and then loans you a few bucks, I don't think its charitable.
