This really is getting out of hand, i've been a critic of Darkfall before, I mean I used to live and breathe Darkfall however I was let down badly by the constant delays etc until just thinking of Darkfall left me with a bitter taste in my mouth. I always came to MMORPG.com as a lurker, sometimes having a good laugh at the darkfall troll and fanboi threads.
But this is totally out of hand the only reason Devour is bringing this up is because Paragus1 talks about Darkfall, he would not care if it were ANY other game. It's a blog, and agree or disagree with its content you have to accept its nothing to do with this site, its an opinion. Paragus1 has always written well and given people who are looking to play Darkfall some real information (because god help you if you so much ask a question about darkfall in these forums), weather or not it is fully accurate is a moot point, it really does not matter because its a BLOG. : a Web site that contains an online personal journal with reflections, comments, and often hyperlinks provided by the writer.
What this all boils down to is the "haters" who have some huge problem with this game for one reason or another dont want to see Paragus1 on the front page because he talks about Darkfall. It's childish and immature, the same people would not have a problem if he were commenting on any other game. Seriously people its time to drop this crap and move on with your lives, some people LIKE Darkfall... I know crazy right?! And if people are happy with the game then why in the world would I want to spoil that for them?
So, wait... There's no dispute that this is a blog, right? It's not like anyone looks at the title "Spolight Blogs" and thinks that they are something other than blogs, right? Does it matter then, whether it's positive or negative? If it's well written, why wouldn't they spotlight it?
Wouldn't it be "special" or discriminatory treatment, if the policy of the site is to highlight well written blogs, but Paragus isn't allowed to be highlighted no matter how well written because it's somewhat positive towards DF?
No, I think it's more about his blog being CONSISTANTLY highlighted.
Look at the blogs on this site -- how many of them do you regularly see in that list? Many of those far better in the "well-written" department.
Yes, but that's a decision made by the editors of the site about which blogs they felt were well written enough to be highlighted. You're not suggesting that the entire mmorpg site is some kind of paid shill that supports DF are you?
Otherwise, it's fair to assume that the selection process itself follows an objective standard, which the OP is asking mmorpg to change because he dislikes the subject matter.
No, I'm saying that for variety it would be nice to rotate the highlights to include other blogs that have important things to say. Personally, I'm sick of always hearing about Darkfall, Darkfall, Darkfall...
Everywhere you go on this site, the word Darkfall is somewhere in your field of vision. It's tiresome.
Besides, I'd like it to be brought to my attention that there more than the same 10 blogs talking about the same 10 games here. Last I looked, there must be 100+ blogs and even more MMOs.
MMORPG.com isn't exposing me to the world of MMOs, they're exposing me to, I guess, their favorite games.
I think there would be a lot less DFO fighting if people had other things catch their attention on the front page. Since DFO is always right in your face, it's hard to resist jumping into the fray.

All I have to do on this site is write a blog well, make it descriptive, and, whether it's positive or negative, it'll have a good chance of being Spotlighted?
Cool!
Oh, and don't start with the "Paragus likes the game, that's why he's subscribed to it" crap. He played AoC and Warhammer even while his enjoyment went down the drain, if, for no other reason, to write his blogs. Yes, he eventually did quit both those games and went on to Darkfall, but it's not like he's incapable of being fair and objective in his blogs.
In fact, with AoC and WAR, he was mostly negative. In the end, though, it's all personal opinion. I bet if I started an anti-DF blog, made it concise and detailed, and made it the truth, I'd get a counter-Spotlight blog.
But I won't, since I don't care enough. For anyone interested, make sure you study your grammar and read the dictionary every night so you can use big words.

Nicely written and dead on, in my eyes.
And like I said a few times before but can't get tired of; I wish every game on mmorpg.com had a blogger like Paragus writing about it. It really adds a deep layer of extra info on a game.
i just wish all the DF blogs and threads would end....so pointless and argumentative for the hell of it.
The end would come quickly if the people that hate the game stop posting about it. Let the people that like the game enjoy playing it without the constant baiting and arguing.
If you don't like the game then be quiet and let it die, your arguments are just generating more buzz and more buzz means more clicks which means more DarkFall on the front page.
I never understood why people feel the need to cause problems for a game they don't enjoy playing, its not like DarkFall broke up with you and as the scorned lover you need to get revenge.
If you really Hate Darkfall and want revenge then go play another game and then tell DarkFall how much better looking the new game is and what a tight UI it has.

If they are blogs I have no problem with them being highlighted in the highlighted blogs section. They definatly deserve that as they are usually well written and give a view of the game that while it does mention the problems doesn't dwell on them and points out the fun that can be had in the game as it stands now.
Whats objectional is the way they are not only highlighted in the blog section but also highlighted in the features section the only blog to get this treatment suspiciously only really starting when it was about Darkfall. Pick one and let it stand on it's merits as either a blog or a feature article but not both. By highlighting it as a feature it gets hits other bloggers don't and thus messes up the numbers as to what blogs are being read keeping the blog on the highlighted list while others worthy of the same accolades get pushed aside.

I don't get it then. Are you guys protesting Paragus or the mmorpg site? I don't know how Paragus has any control over whether the site highlights his blog or not other than going through the submission process. If he's getting special treatment from the site, then you'd think the OP's rant about people being paid shills and fanbois would be directed at the mmorpg site admins and their editors.
Yet, apparently that's not the point. I've read through this thread, and it appears that what the OP really wants is a censorship of Paragus because of a dislike about the subject matter. Not once does anyone seem to have a dispute with the way mmorpg choses their blogs or articles to highlight. As far as I can tell, the mmorpg site appears to be unbiased and objective about their selection process. It appears that others seem to agree with that since there's no real criticism directed at them.
So again, the proponents of taking down Paragus' blog are advocating for mmorpg to censor him because of the subject matter that he is writing about, correct?
Since MMORPG.com staff has already said it generates traffic, the question is whether they highlight it because they know there are tons of readers that will dive on it to anxiously read it or they know there are tons of readers that will dive on it to tear it apart.

Paragus' blog being "featured" is essentially giving a blind fanboy front page status. The people's main problem is that this guy is featured, yet brushes off very real problems the game has as "minor issues". Hell, back when I was considering this game; if I had listened to this guy's glowing praise I would have been stupid enough to sink 50 dollars into this sinking ship of a company. Think whatever you want of the game, but if you think that these guys are going to pull a CCP with their inept business practices; you're living in a fantasy world.
I really wouldn't mind it being a featured blog if he actually reviewed something other than Darkfall. I really don't care about the game one way or the other, but it seems to me that it's just a shill. If you had someone come over and have a spotlighted blog for an SOE game, for instance, you can bet that most of the comments would be crammed full of the "obvious SOE Shill" posts.
Originally posted by Stradden Do it, and do it as thoroughly and professionally and I'll be happy to highlight it. Oh, and as to the "no one wants to read it" comment... Darkfall content consistently draws a large number of views and reads. I'm afraid that the facts just don't back up what you're saying in this case.
It draws the crowds because its grand promises and its actual car crash nature. Its got to be the two girls one cup of the MMO world. You have to admit the drama for this game is quality. Surely nothing beats the craziness of DF and AV in the past few weeks. Car crash stuff and I am guilty as charged for watching this debacle but the developers silliness and faffing around is just so interesting to watch. Gods knows what we can extrpolate from all this ... probably says a lot of quality, customer service and the good old hype machine. And no.. its isn't great conclusions.
As for Paragus1 blog... I just find reading it to be a complete barrel of fun. The blog about DF fabulous UI for guilds was fantastic in a perverse way. It was like ... *thats it*. This 'amazing' new game is out and the best he can talk about is a shitty interface ?! What about all the features cited on the website.. oh wait.
I love paragus1 blogs... its the subject matter choosen and how he presents it which just adds to the loveliness of this all. Anyways anyone with a slightly critical mind is going to ask hard questions. The fanbots will as they always do.. go in drooling. Keep the blogs... keep anything that keeps this fantastic petri dish going.
And thank god for MMORPG.com in general (and others too) else we'd all be silent slaves under the DF forums psycho mods which allow name callign and putrid discussion but silently remove intelligent critical posts.
I have no intention of playing Darkfall for a while and I still enjoy reading Paragus' blogs - get off the site if you don't like it OP you sound like a close minded moron to me

I am surprised that OP along with some people on DF forums haven't got suspension for spamming with useless threads.
Why? because of the blatant bias against Darkfall by this site and it's moderators. That's why.
That's hilarious, considering the OP is basically saying the site's biased towards Darkfall..
