What popularity, it's a blog, it was a blog with genuine, pretty detailed information about a game many didn't get the chance to experience from the begining themselves. The blog's information was popular (esp with the haters afterall it's where they got a lot of their info from) not paragus, he just does a very good job of gathering the info and presenting it well, something which has been hard to come by from the usual sources.
----- The person who is certain, and who claims divine warrant for his certainty, belongs now to the infancy of our species.
I like reading his blogs lol but the entire argument is pritty simple and easy to understand its a blog its not a news article so it should not ever be under the news section ! if it is going to be under the news section then same rules should apply to him that apply to article writers. aka no fanboyism one sided this is great go buy it spin.
that makes sense.
therefore, it will probably be both ignored and flamed.
could we please get correspondent writers and moderators, on the eve forum at mmorpg.com, who are well-versed on eve-online and aren't just passersby pushing buttons? pretty please?
It's a blog, not a news article, a blog, you don't like the game, blogged it yourselves. Don't like the writer, don't read the blog. Don't like not getting your way, tough.
does mmorpg.com have standards for a "news article"?
if yes; then, are the blog posts below, being held to that standard?

Start making blog posts of your favorite game in same depth and detail as Paragus posts his and they will get posted too...problem solved, any other questions?
I have an idea, make your own blog about DF and if you find enough people eager to listen to the sound of sand rubbing against your vaginal walls you can be in the Highlighted blogs too.
"The hammer of the gods will drive our ships to new lands, To fight the horde, singing and crying: Valhalla, I am coming! On we sweep with threshing oar, our only goal will be the western shore."
I agree. But only because his writing skills are nothing special. Woah, the guy can write a few words about a crappy game, put him on the front page NOW.

MrBloodworth, Supercrap, and nate1980 are exactly right in their assessments of Paragus' blog. The issue is not that Paragus likes DF, it's that his blog is highlighted above others and passed off as news by this site.
I say this as somone who currently plays Darkfall. I have for over a month and I beta tested for over 5 weeks. I like it enough to renew my subscription and keep playing it for now. There are many issues I have with the game and it is woefully incomplete, but I still like it, on balance.
Although the OP went overboard, and was unnecessarily harsh he was, for the most part, correct. These blogs about the game are very subjective and MMORPG.com is trying to dress them up as news or reporting about Darkfall. Don't the schools teach children how to deconstruct writing and identify bias, agenda, and context?
You are asking about schools teaching?? And you don't even understand that the definition of a blog in an opinion piece, and by definition not meant to be objective in any way?
LOL....
How do they "dress it up as news" when it is in a blog section?
Thanks for proving my point exactly. There is nothing wrong with the content and nothing wrong with the fact that it's a blog. I actually enjoy his blog and pretty much agree with him on all points. The issue is that MMORPG.com is trying to package his BLOG as a news feature or as journalism and not as a blog. Even if they are not doing so explicitly. That is the criticism here.
Then we have idiots saying "Hurf! If you don't like it don't read it!" or "Blurf! It's still in the blog section". If you don't understand the criticism then just keep your mouth shut and move on. No need to make it clear to everyone that you can't understand the subtleties of what is being criticized (and no, I am not talking about the OP, I am only talking about the posts that are critical of how MMORPG.com packages his "feature", not the content of the feature).
You have failed. Most in this thread have failed hard on their face.
Start making blog posts of your favorite game in same depth and detail as Paragus posts his and they will get posted too...problem solved, any other questions?
i have one - do you believe that blogs are the same as news articles?

Look at the front page, no longer "highlighted" and his title on his homepage is now "elite member" not "spotlight blogger".
And somehow you're probably puffing out your chest because you like the idea that you're responsible. Yep, you're responsible for accusing someone who posts their opinion in their blog of..... posting their opinion in their blog.

Honestly, for being a member since 2004 im very surprised you would even say that. Darkfall has only been really popular and majorly hyped starting in late 2008. Yes, people knew about the game's development for years, but it wasn't until the final stages that Darkfall created an uproar on this site.
Darkfall is just the same old flavor of the month that we see on a regular basis. I will say that Darkfall is the most unique game i've seen come out in awhile, due to being developed by an indie Greece company, having very limitied accounts, and having a FFA pvp atmosphere, but it's popularity will eventually pass just like aoc and warhammer did in 2008.
And he clearly puts in a great deal of effort into his blog. It's not hard to see why MMORPG.COM highlights someone who is willing to devote the time to do that.
I am not part of the content staff since I sell ad space for the site - however I am quite sure that we highlight blogs for a few key reasons:
Quality of the writing Quality of the presentation (good use of images, formatting, etc) Popularity (how many hits they get) Ranking (how many bumps vs buries)
These are *not* official MMORPG.com writers - they are BLOGS - I think we make this pretty clear, or as clear as we possibly can. If any blog on any other topic was this popular/good we would spotlight it - even if it was about basket weaving or water polo! It is in our best interest to spotlight content that people gravitate to and talk about. I know no one ever believes this, but we really don't care if you love or hate a game, we just care that you come HERE to love or hate it .
said by the man himself..this is the place to hate it.. so if troll's like to troll.. hey this is the place... if they wanna hate blogs hell guess this is the place...thanks for clearing that up.. cause people seem like coming here to hate darkfall is against code......myself, hate everyhting about the game from gameplay, looks, the people that play it ,to how its ran ,to spam e-mails i get eveyday about it.........I kinda wish someone would headshot me so I could just be done with it...Then u ask ,why r you here..cause I can be the man just told you that....started to proof read this then said fuck it.. probly get banned for using the word hate to many times.....
open e-mail blah blah blah blah darkfall......delete
