IF the flaming / trolling gets further out of hand, would you just delete their posts, instead of locking the thread? This is how they attempt to keep a lockdown on the forums, and try to paint ever non-Darkfall fankiddy as a "troll", when - in fact - they are the ones trolling.

And, to all the people in this thread who're saying that I'm a censorship cowboy, etc, etc, here are my replies.

    1) Actually read what's in the first post, I don't want his blog deleted or anything, just either moved into a correspodent position or removed from the spotlighted blogger area. Look at the other spotlighted bloggers, they both have a WIDE focus on other games.

    2) See above.

    3) See what's above above.

    4) Saying "LOL U HAZ NO LIEF" is not mature, it just makes you look like a huge kid.

    5) See 1.

Spotlighted blogs are in the spot light because they have a large readership by the users of this website. If you want it off the out of the spotlight then get the users of this website to not read it. Have fun with that.

Without knowing exactly how mmorpg decides to pick a spotlighted blogger, I'm assuming that it is an objective standard.  You've not pointed out anything in the mmorpg selection process that suggests otherwise.  While other bloggers may write about more subjects, we don't know whether that is part of the criteria.  Perhaps they simply look at how well it is written, and hot many hits it generates.

Again, if Paragus' blog meets the objective criteria, why should he be treated differently than any other author who writes a blog or article that meets mmorpg's criteria.

Btw, moving the blog to a more obscure area is still a form of censorship.  If it meets all the objective requirements, then it should be treated the same as other blogs.  Again, you are asking his blog to be treated differently solely based on the subject matter, are you not?

I'm suggesting he should be made into a correspodent.

He already entirely fits the niche, so why not?

MMORPG.com isn't exposing me to the world of MMOs, they're exposing me to, I guess, their favorite games.
I think there would be a lot less DFO fighting if people had other things catch their attention on the front page. Since DFO is always right in your face, it's hard to resist jumping into the fray.

That is how I feel...  why does such an outdated and extremely cryptic title get so much space. It's clearly a flop, just let it die and lets see more blogs and insight on games that actually matter to the MMo space.

Your opinion of the game is...interesting.  First it's not outdated, as it was released in Feb.  Second it's not a cryptic title, it's a niche game that are having people froth at the mouth in anticipation because of the horrible state of genre.  Third, it's clearly a success.  An independent making it work.  Fourth, it's very important an independent make it in this industry or you will only get generic crap in the future from the other wal-mart MMO's.

I really don't mind him having his blog highlighted in the blog highlight section of the front page.  What I call foul on is his blog being the only non-dev blog that gets put up as a feature up in the top part of the main page.  Fair suck of the sav guv where is Spousal Agros feature listing as it seems consistantly in the highlighted blogs as well and focuses on more MMO's and the MMO lifestyle than Paragus1.  Sure the OP called for it to be removed from the wrong place if it is in fact a blog and not a series of articles promoting Darkfall.

So call it what it is if it's a blog remove it from the featured articles part of the page.  If it's an article remove it from the blog section.  So no I'm not asking for his writing to be treated different I'm asking for it to be treated the same and let it sink or swim based on it's merits as either a blog or an article not both.  Because treating his blog as a feature article severly impacts how many hits it generates as a blog.

The lesser of two evils is still evil.

There is nothing more dangerous than a true believer.

Here is a shocker, if you think he is a shill - stop reading his blog.

I haven't read anything from him in months because it became apparent to me that he was wearing pretty heavily DF-tinted glasses and I couldn't care less about the game now that its failures are apparent to all.

I don't think the site admins give him any special prominence or promote his blog more than others...in short, no conspiracy, no special treatment....

    @ risenbones and some others

... we heard enough of those "but it is nut fares" by now.

Folks from mmorpg.com have spoken and I suggest rereading what they wrote on the subject. I'll just add that Darkfall is blessed with a blogger like Paragus and I wish more games would have one of his consistent quality since it adds a whole layer of inside information which is hard to distill from other sources.

    Wow!

There sure are a lot of idiots on this site.

MrBloodworth, Supercrap, and nate1980 are exactly right in their assessments of Paragus' blog.  The issue is not that Paragus likes DF, it's that his blog is highlighted above others and passed off as news by this site.

I say this as somone who currently plays Darkfall.  I have for over a month and I beta tested for over 5 weeks.  I like it enough to renew my subscription and keep playing it for now.   There are many issues I have with the game and it is woefully incomplete, but  I still like it, on balance.

Although the OP went overboard, and was unnecessarily harsh he was, for the most part, correct.  These blogs about the game are very subjective and MMORPG.com is trying to dress them up as news or reporting about Darkfall.  Don't the schools teach children how to deconstruct writing and identify bias, agenda, and context?

    Devour
    Erowid410
    LogothX
    Ginfress02
    summitus
The 'haters' spend most of their time posting in the forum focusing on the object of their ire. One can look at this as simply a pathetic waste of their time and adrenaline. But maybe Devour and Co. feel it is their duty to save us from bad games. Maybe a career as a Jehova's Witness would be more apropriate.
Whatever it is, I thank you for the neverending joy and laughter you provide!

Wait, I'm lost.... Isn't summitus a fan of the game....

So basically any press is good press, the same with this topic regarding a members blog,Let ppl continue to flame/agree with the blogg as long as it brings in posters.....sorry I think this is wrong and could stop other members from starting a blog...

How did you derive that from my post? It was a question as to which one it might be, not a statement that either was the actual case.

I thought he got the spotlight status becouse of the number of ppl who reads his blog, it's an automated thing... stop reading them and it won't show up as spotlight anymore...

I'm currently playing 2 games. AoC and GW but i spend more time reading posts here. You guys are great. The hate, love, drama, the thing about the white frame. I dont know the game but this forum is surely alive.

Oh on topic, Paragus1's blog is actually how i hooked up with this game. His blog while avoiding mentioning lack of basic things taken for granted in many games, usually focus on things that you cant do (or never heard of) in other games. I mean, where else can(/did) you raid(/ed) a player city to build your ship and use it to destroy another?

    I need more vespene gas.

wow, took like 40 minutes to shuffle through all this trash and bickering.

sounded like a 6th grade girls table cafeteria fight in school on those previous pages.

so from what I gather nobody here has a blog...

nobody here has taken the time to be a spotlight blogger...

oh, and i think since paragus is playing DF, and ONLY DF

it would be a bit difficult for him to review any other game.

and his previous blogs were the same.

It's just a blog, a well written one at that.  Although Paragus1's rants tend to be all about the positives of the game that is still no reason to call for it to be taken down.  Yes, I would like to see some more cons to better weigh  against the pros but its Paragus1's choice because it's his blog.... his opinion.  If you do not agree with Paragus's take on the game , write a blog as well written and detailed as he has. I'm sure the staff here will put it up for the simple fact that it will stir up all kinds of actvitiy and traffic to the site.

I just hope that a hatred of  Darkfall and AV was not your main motivation to start this thread.

I actually do have a blog.

Even if it only has two posts in it.

No one actually took the time to read them, as can be seen from the comments at the bottom, so I just gave up.

I mean, if he doesn't get removed, at least give a disclaimer that the information is probably extremely heavily biased TOWARDS Darkfall, because - I don't know about you - but I don't find the fact that new players may be convinced by heavy handed pro-Darkfall crap, just because it seems to be official and on the front page.
    TL;DR:

Either remove Paragus1 from "Spotlight Blogs", or change him to something like "Official Darkfall Blog", so that people know to be wary of anything he might say.

so this is something obgective  from a guy that can actually tell me if this game is good

    AND

    Conclusion

In my beta review, I recommended that most people should probably hold off before buying the game until they worked out some of the kinks. Is now the time to jump in? I can say it is a lot better now than it was in the beta, and the frequency and changes in the patches we have been getting makes me think that this game is going to be getting better on a weekly basis. I'd recommend that if you are on the fence, that you should keep an eye on the weekly patch notes. It is by no means as polished as some of the so called AAA MMO's in recent memory, but at 60 days in Warhammer, my guild had one foot out the door, and here it looks so far to be going pretty well. The irony is that despite its flaws, Darkfall performs better than Warhammer Online did with massive amount of people on the screen engaged in PvP. Other than that, I hope Aventurine will continue to add some more soloable PvE spawns and work out some of the issues with the siege mechanic loopholes. I am also hoping I will also get a chance to write again about the War Hulks many of you have been asking about sometime in the foreseeable future.

(this is from the 60 days of darkfall blog)

this is what a fanboy writes?

    so!!!!

which thing to choose as my main aproach on this thread?

    hmm,lets see.on the left we have a hater,from what i see:

I mean, if he doesn't get removed, at least give a disclaimer that the information is probably extremely heavily biased TOWARDS Darkfall, because - I don't know about you - but I don't find the fact that new players may be convinced by heavy handed pro-Darkfall crap, just because it seems to be official and on the front page.

and on the other side we have a fanboy that likes tha game and say:

" I'd recommend that if you are on the fence, that you should keep an eye on the weekly patch notes. It is by no means as polished as some of the so called AAA MMO's in recent memory "

and since since he is so biased and loves this game so much, which he does.he say:

Other than that, I hope Aventurine will continue to add some more soloable PvE spawns and work out some of the issues with the siege mechanic loopholes

i dont know which side to take...please help me decide...oh and dont forget this is a BLOG about a GAME on the INTERNET,if you DONT LIKE IT.then STOP reading it.and if you DONT like darkfall, then DONT read ANYTHING for it.there hapens to be some people THAT  ACTUALLY LIKE THE GAME,why is this so weird for you.LET them ENJOY the GAME that THEY LIKE
