They do this with FFXI and have been since 2003 I think. Xbox PS2 and PC all play on the same servers, so does everyone in the world, no regional servers.

The conference is still going on right now so info will show up; after it's over.
I hope they have something similar to the paladin and their AF armor in FFXI. Man was that gear cool :P
And they BETTER NOT release it in japan first and give them a 2 year lead like with FFXI. They should have a simultaneous release. Or keep jp/us servers separate, although not as fun but the community will be divided between na/jp players regardless if they don't do a simultaneous release.
Also the Godfather of FF'S Hironobu Sakaguchi won't be working on this one so I can't say I will have such high expectations for it, which may be a good thing, as hopefully I will be pleasantly surprised.
Is it really ONLY for PS3? Or will it be for PC also? They weren't too clear on that.

ehh.. I'm excited to see it but they played CG, we got the announcement which is good but not a single frame of in game play so there is no way to judge it.
*edit* Sony never says if a game is on another system or PC but yea it'll be on the PC
Considering the market share of PS3, I doubt they'd shoot themselves in the foot leaving it off Xbox 360 and PC. Especially since alot of Xbox 360 and PC FFXI players will likely swap over for something new to play.

I wouldn't be so sure. Until we hear officially from SE I'm going to stick with their statement that the rapture mmo wasn't an FF title.
As of right now FFXIV has only been announced as a PS3 exclusive. There hasn't been any other platform announced for it.
I thought this was the 'Rapture' MMO also, but seeing they said nothing about 'Rapture' in the press confrence, I doubt it's the 'Rapture' project.

It's been announced as a CONSOLE exclusive. Not releasing it on the PC would be a very stupid move.
FF 13 was a PS3 excluive too

Just rewound to the announcement and the gentleman says "and Playstation 3 will be the only console you'll be able to play FF XIV on when it launches in 2010." So, the only console, he doesn't mention pc, but given that XI is avail. on pc, I'd have to agree with the poster above me that says it'll be there as well. Maybe at later date, maybe simultaneous, no idea. This is all just now being released to the public.
Edit note: accidentally said XIII was on pc, still drooling over the trailer, changed it to read XI

I agree. I personally would have little incentive to want to buy it/play it if it is going to be PS3 only.
