As a previous poster put, I hope it's in Ivalice. I'd love to see their races in this. In my opinion, the actual races of FInal Fantasy. I'd love to see the Humes, Viera, Bangaa and etc. as all playable races. I always felt the Galkaa were just a wasted race in 11. They looked stupid to me, and everything they did, the Elvaan could do pretty much just as good. Them and the Taru lol..if I never have to look at another Taru again, I will be very much happy lol. That screenshot looked awesome btw, this game is definately on the radar now. Definately needs to be less group oriented than 11 was though. I know we've all said that, but I don't think any of us can emphasize that enough lol. Having to sit and wait for a party, or not be able to play the game because no one was available and no one invited really sucked. That was the reason I quit it years ago. Well they definitely resolved the whole waiting for a group issue in FF11, but how dare you talk about tarus like that....

That's not correct actually. You can play FFXI amongst other games on a regular silver account for xbox 360 which is free.
Also, as far as my taste is concerned, PS3 has been a waste of money for me at least. Only thing I've used it for is to play PS2/PS1 games on it. FFXIV might actually change that since I will buy it for PS3 if it does happen to be PS3 exclusive. There are just no games that I like for the PS3 a ton at the moment to actually buy one, xbox360 on the other hand has hand quite a few titles I've liked.
Maybe a stupid move for the west but in the asian culture the ps3 is freaking huge and JRPG's are 10x bigger there than over here. Maybe they will release it on PC maybe they wont but as of right now there has been no annoucement of it being on any other platform besides the PS3.
there in lies the sticking point...the PS3 has such a lack of JRPGS for NA/EU audiences it's not even funny...I'm not sure about their "home" market..but they've completely abandoned the genre outside of Japan. It's sad really because I only really bought the PS2 for that type of game so until they pick up steam I don't see me buying a PS3 anytime soon.

So, the only console, he doesn't mention pc, but given that XIII is avail. on pc, I'd have to agree with the poster above me that says it'll be there as well. And are you saying you have to have a LIVE sub to play FFXI on 360? Far as I know, LIVE is only for playing little multiplayer matches in mainly singleplayer games.
The Playstation 3 comes with both bluetooth and Wifi, and a blu ray player. The Xbox360 has none of that, Wi fi is only possible if you buy an accecoirse which is actually quite expensive.
I'm not saying you have to have a LIVE sub to play FFXI (this is also to Neverland07), but you do need a live sub to play online games which are not "mainly singleplayer games", in fact, most games nowadays put more effort in the multiplayer than the singleplayer as the multiplayer lasts far longer then the singleplayer.
With Playstation 3, you get free online play for all of those games (except for MMO's ofcourse).
Xbox live is 50$ a year.
The Xbox360 pro model i believe is currently 250$
The Playstation 3 is 400$?
So that means in 3 years, the Xbox360 has just become just as expensive as the Playstation 3. In 4 years, an Xbox360 has become more expensive than the Playstation 3, and that number just keeps increasing.

SE has gone to great lengths making FF11 very NA friendly in the past year, leveling is at a point where you can almost get a group instantly if not in 15 minutes, and leveling to 75 can be done in less than a month if you play alot. I personally am hoping it starts out with a little difficulty in leveling as that's what personally draws me to the game. I do, however, think that SE has learned a ton from what they've done with ff11 and hopefully those changes are in the first implementation of ff14.

I've always wished that I had gotten in on FFXI when it was released. I love the game so much, but hate to catch up. If this game is even close to FFXI in quality I'll be hooked for a long time.
The last scene its definitaly an elf type and hume, and what could very well be a galka look alike. And at the end they show the standard ff logo you can definitely see a taru look alike in the upper middle. God wtb more info on what this is.
Edit: And if you look real close where the "Galka" is fighting, the race inside the bubble type barrier has pointy ears and a tail... just like our beloved mithra haha

I think when they exclusive they mean exclusive to that console. Most consoles don't seem to count computers as a competitor.

Edit: I just ran around my house in excitement after I found this out. FFXI was my first love of MMO's and I have tried countless games that never brought that same magical feeling. I can't wait to play this game.
they should come up with a new naming stratergy. firstly because the numbers are just a bit ridiculous. secondly because number 14 is announced when 13 hasn't even come out. and thirdly because 11&14 are different game types.

You guys are freaking down right funny. It said FFXIV is ps3 Exclusive. that means its ONLY on PS3. Not on MAC not on PC not on XBOX360. Again PS3 exclusive means only on PS3. FFXIII was never offocial stated as PS3 exclusive. It was more of an implied dill that everyone got wrong.
Now if FFXVI is set up like an MMO I do not think thats a good thing because more the merryier. On the bright side someone with a monster PC will not have a technical advantage of an average PC everyone is playing with the same hardware. only thing that matters now is your net connection. I actually like that idea more I think about it.

Well i wouldn't mind trying out FFXIV but only if PC is available, i'm not gonna spend money on a PS3.

Final Fantasy XIII is going to be console forever, sorry. There is absolutely no reason to believe FFXIII will ever go to the PC. Just because Final Fantasy XI was released on the PC. Final Fantasy X - 2 was not released on the PC, neither was Final Fantasy XII. Why would Final Fantasy XIII be any different? It's not like there is an audience on the PC waiting for it.
also the Playstation 3 is hardly overpriced, you'll get a lot more value for your money then with an Xbox360. Xbox360 requires you to pay for online play, so if you play online on your 360, you're paying much more money no matter how you look at it.
I don't know about you, but Ive been waiting for SE next MMO for years now. I played FFXI on PC and 360 and I like the PC version better. The reason why I think that FFXIV will come to pc because we all know that MMO's main platforms is the PC. FFXI came out for the Ps2 first then eventually came out for the PC then 360.
If this game is only for Ps3 I will be very disapointed, because Im not going to go out and buy one just for this game, when I already have a computer that can play the game just fine. There is no other game that the Ps3 has that I want to play anyways and I never play my 360 anymore either so I can't justify spending 450 bucks just to play one game.
They will lose a lot of customers if they don't release it for PC, me being one of them.

there in lies the sticking point...the PS3 has such a lack of JRPGS for NA/EU audiences it's not even funny...I'm not sure about their "home" market..but they've completely abandoned the genre outside of Japan. It's sad really because I only really bought the PS2 for that type of game so until they pick up steam I don't see me buying a PS3 anytime soon.
Another FF MMO? I can promise it'll be pretty but it's overall collectivist mentality will kill it for most NA/EU gamers unless they tune it towards us.
QFT - that is what is wrong with many Asian based MMORPG's they are just ported here and they are not geared to how we in NA play at all. Like the Lineage II series. I would have loved to play that game more but the grind became to much. I have a life outside games.
SE has gone to great lengths making FF11 very NA friendly in the past year, leveling is at a point where you can almost get a group instantly if not in 15 minutes, and leveling to 75 can be done in less than a month if you play alot. I personally am hoping it starts out with a little difficulty in leveling as that's what personally draws me to the game. I do, however, think that SE has learned a ton from what they've done with ff11 and hopefully those changes are in the first implementation of ff14.

Wrong on MGS. MGS Rising was announced by Hideo yesterday for the 360, however, no mention of the word "exclusive". Probably be on both consoles, but no confirmation that I've seen. The only thing I've seen today was MGS: Peace Walker for the PSP/PSP Go!. Looks damn pretty tho

Yea, I mean that FFXIV will end up being multi-platform, atleast on the PC, and most likely on the 360 also.
Try not to use multi-platform to describe it being on the PC, it is not a platform when you're talking about consoles it's outside that bubble

I've always wished that I had gotten in on FFXI when it was released. I love the game so much, but hate to catch up. If this game is even close to FFXI in quality I'll be hooked for a long time.
Aion just took a back seat for me.
The last scene its definitaly an elf type and hume, and what could very well be a galka look alike. And at the end they show the standard ff logo you can definitely see a taru look alike in the upper middle. God wtb more info on what this is.
Edit: And if you look real close where the "Galka" is fighting, the race inside the bubble type barrier has pointy ears and a tail... just like our beloved mithra haha

Seriously doubt this is Rapture. The few screenshots they released featured none of the familiar races from FFXI. Also doubt this is Ivalice based, more likely the remaining continents yet to be explored in the FFXI world.
Seriously doubt it will be a PS3 exclusive either, I believe the majority of FFXI players are PC users and I fail to see how alienating their primary audience would be beneficial to the game. If the release date is anything to go by, which knowing SE it probably isn't, expect it to once again be JP onry for a while before seeing ports to other platforms. Wouldn't be the same if they didn't give the Japanese audience a few months to exploit the crap out of any bugs left in the game before patching them all for the NA/EU release.
All of this is wild speculation of course, it could very well be a PS3 only game with different servers for each continent, but then it just wouldn't be the same would it? Personally I can't wait to spend months upon end in Dragon's Aery looking at my new HD tail swing while I wait once more for people to attempt Spike Flails at every possible opportunity.

I think when they exclusive they mean exclusive to that console. Most consoles don't seem to count computers as a competitor.

You can clearly make out a Galka around the 20 second mark of the youtube video someone linked previously, then again with what looks like Aldo (dude gets everywhere) and an Elvaan on his left. How is he wrong on Metal Gear? He said exactly what you did...it used to be a Sony exclusive and now it's not anymore.
Won't most consoles be fairly inferior to PC's in terms of tecnology by 2010, or 2011 when this game comes out?

Edit: I just ran around my house in excitement after I found this out. FFXI was my first love of MMO's and I have tried countless games that never brought that same magical feeling. I can't wait to play this game.
Hopefully my new Plasma TV and HDMI cables won't go to waste with this game, I want full 1080p.
they should come up with a new naming stratergy. firstly because the numbers are just a bit ridiculous. secondly because number 14 is announced when 13 hasn't even come out. and thirdly because 11&14 are different game types.

You guys are freaking down right funny. It said FFXIV is ps3 Exclusive. that means its ONLY on PS3. Not on MAC not on PC not on XBOX360. Again PS3 exclusive means only on PS3. FFXIII was never offocial stated as PS3 exclusive. It was more of an implied dill that everyone got wrong.
Now if FFXVI is set up like an MMO I do not think thats a good thing because more the merryier. On the bright side someone with a monster PC will not have a technical advantage of an average PC everyone is playing with the same hardware. only thing that matters now is your net connection. I actually like that idea more I think about it.
