For want of a better and perhaps less offensive word, it all seems a bit girly to me.
So I was wondering if they had a female audience in mind when they designed the game, has anything been stated by NCSoft on this subject in any press releases?

No.
And you can make your character just as burly and manly as you'd like.

what about it makes you feel like its aimed at a female audience?
All the screenshots I've seen are all a bit 'nice' and 'clean'.
They mostly feature female characters and the male ones are all super clean cut and boyishly handsome and kind of exude a very idealistic romantic fantasy theme.
Perhaps the whole 'angel wings' thing that seems to be a predominant selling feature I find to be very feminine.
Feel free to show my the side of it that isn't feminine (a much better word than girly from my first post, sorry about that one, but it escaped me at the time).
I'm just basing this on the media that I've seen released, even down to the game's logo.
I see you point and I kinda agree with you, I don't think that was there goal but the Elyos does have that clean cut look.

The Elyos females look like vergins and the Asmodian females look like they don't mind going behind the barn with the farmboy every now and then !!

Yep the only thing that's 'Asian' in Guild Wars are the graphics you should have seen the original demo it looked just like Warcraft..
This title is targerted to gamers who like to PvP and PvE. The fact that it also appeals to women is just a bonus. XD That's like asking if EQ2 is targeted to women because they have a high population of females over there. Not really that's just how it worked out.
I'm going to lose all credibility here, but I have to share this one...
Sorry for the title of this video, it's not of my making and it's not exactly what I'm implying. Perhaps the poster who said the game was quite 'Metro' had the right wording.
This is worth a little laugh anyway if not just for the music they laid over the top for added effect.
Again I'll say the graphics are really great, the animation looks smooth, there seem to be lots of people around and I'm sure Aion will enjoy every success.
But that's how I think a lot of Asian culture is, the hair cuts that a lot of guys have, the clothes that alot of them wear, etc etc.
But yeah, as a self respecting, testosterone filled, man, I don't care for the graphics at all.
Oh, and it's an entirely instanced game - do not want
I live in SE Asia and young 'fashionable' guys do have some similar haircuts that I've seen in some of these screenshots and many of the male pop idols here are in fact quite feminine in appearance which, I assume appeals to the fans, most of whom are female.

This has been beaten to the ground already- No it's not.

Have you seen the armor and female character designs? This game is NOT aimed at a female audience.

You wouldn't understand
I can see the whole Angel like thing helping to bring the female gamers to it.
But overall, not really.

No. Perhaps the artwork is a bit metro but overall it seems like a typical NCSoft game in terms of design and artwork.
Its no AOC, but who'd wants it to be?

Certainly not I for one.
I would have to say yes. This is the only game that my wife keeps asking me about.
My wife is also quite interested in it.
I agree the game is cool graphically but teh wings are really femmy and there truely is no point in having them besides letting players glid around.
Can't deny the graphics are impressive.
When did guildwars become asian? It is made by the same team that made Warcraft 3, and they are americans.

I agree, it does look very femish

True but I suspect that it has some asian influence. The characters leaping up and floating in order to attack or cast comes to mind.
Probably why I like it so much.
Not sure if any of this helps.

OMG I laughed so hard when I saw that! Thanks Sovrath, and the graphics are so realistic... What class is this guy?
I'm extremely disturbed by this image for some reason.... What is it?

lol, you are welcome ; )
The last one is an actual player in Aion.
You can make your character however you'd like. One of the many strengths of the game!
