I would like to say also, that four pages in and this has been a fun thread.

Any other game forum with a post about something similar to this and I'd have been torn to shreds I think.

    Kudos to the Aion community!

Perhaps you should read up on ancient asian philosophers for an indication as to what asians think are "beautiful" today, vs the west. The following is just a snippet from Lao Tzu:

    "Be aware of your masculine nature;

But by keeping the feminine way,

You shall be to the world like a canyon,

    Where the Virtue eternal abides,

And go back to become as a child."

Thoughts like this is where your babyfaced "feminen" men are preferred to rampaging and wild hulks, like the west adores. This kind of philosophy has not only endured over the last 3k years in asia, but is actually seeing a modern resurgence as they rediscover their roots.

Now if only the west could have an interest in rediscovering our roots...

I like this ^_^ I've never liked very masculine steak and potatoes hair on mah chest manly men. I cringe whenever I've been hit on by one. My husband is sorta metro but whithout the big city ego. The above Lao Tzu quote really reminds me of him and his nature.

"I agree the game is cool graphically but teh wings are really femmy and there truely is no point in having them besides letting players glid around."

wings play an intergral part in the higher levels, plus some quests require you to use them....play the game before posting something like this....

Think of the wings as your flying mount that you don't magically "summon" out of your tiny backpack. Same mechanics, but better immersion.

I guess this one was a bit lost on me, I eat house bricks and drink gasoline. My hobbies include bear wrestling and chopping down trees with my bare hands!

If the west rediscovered our roots there would be too many roots to decipher. America is so intermingled that everyone has a little bit of everything in them. The most I have in myself is Viking/Icelandic, so if I were to rediscover that, I would be put in jail, lol.

The "west" is far larger than just the U.S. Classically, it has encompassed everything from the Caucasus mountain range, west. I would say try and not only rediscover your viking roots, but also the germanic tribes they were founded on (at least as far back as the hellenistic era, if not before). Society wasn't formed over night ;)

    Are you female?

Time for bed for me, I'll catch up on this tomorrow. Thanks for all the input, but I'm yet to see any sort of none feminine screenshots except that Chucky monstrosity... I guess that sort of counts.

Yo, if there's females, you can bet on dstizzle to be in attendance.

Well, if Joppari Jahya is indeed your real name, that makes sense... Joppari is a derivitive of an Arabic name, as Jahya is a slightly english spelling of a swahili surname. No wonder you aren't a fan of Tzu :P

I don't think that Aion is aimed at the female audience. Rather the game is aimed at an anime audience.

I don't like anime (excepting dragon ball, I grew with that), im a macho man, a bit metro but that's because it's what gets you laid nowadays, and I like aion graphics.

Plus, my characters look awesome D:

  • ElectriceyeElectriceye Member UncommonPosts: 1,171

    It's not feminine, it's art.

I've watched animes for ages and it NEVER occurred to me that male chars look kinda emo/metro... until I saw this thread! You kinda get used to it. I enjoy most animes and prefer this art to everything else to be honest. It's one of the things that draws me to Aion.

It has nothing to do with being aimed at a female audience, the overwhelming majority of people who read mangas and watch animes are male (not including the romance/love mangas which have probably more girls reading them).

AoC might technically have better graphics, but I find Aion to be a MUCH more beautiful game, if that even makes sense.

    And no, I'm not female.

Not really...there are "zones" but every zone is very big. There are multiple instances in the starter areas (for obvious reasons) but anywhere that PvP can happen has only one instance.

You can make very burly and manly characters. Even old men.

I'd say it's not aimed at most women for the simple fact it's heavily PvP oriented. There are a few of us who enjoy it, but with rifting and how large a role the Abyss plays in PvE as well, I don't see it as being marketed toward a broad female audience.
