well first of all ... I doubt it will alleviate flames on the other posts ... I think a lot of people who flame do it out of reaction and they'll get triggered anywhere they happen to land and read.

Bad idea. I can see the flame wars jumping from that forum back to here, and to that forum again. I am all for free speech, just not if its gonna cause mass hysteria, and anurisms. Yes I know I did my share of flame, but more mellow <amazing how when your GF rips ya a new arse, how you gain some degree of insight>.
If people want to flame to show the best one-up, have them pay server space and host a flame war. I like MMORPG because of the moderators keeping it real, and in check, so you can get to the juicey info, and thought provoking posts
I'm sorry, but I think there should NOT be a forum for ranting, flaming, etc. It will bring down the quality of these forums. When new reader comes to check out mmorpg.com, I would not want them reading flames and negative posts. There are enough of them already, but now they are pretty much scattered throughout the boards.

I see no reason to start a flame forum. I don't like people flaming others for having a difference in opinion. To me starting a flame forum would just get more people aggrivated and create unnecessary animosity and hostility among members.

That's the kind of topic we need. More fact, more opinion, more organized, less spam, trash, and bullcrap.
How about a political forum? And you could throw WoW vs EQ in there as well. Considering people take it about as serious as politics. Ahaha

Yes, this is a discussion board, but you and I know that people tend to take it a bit more extreme than others. I say as I said before this would be a good thing. That way, if something does turn out of hand in the regular forums you can say that it has been moved to the appropriate forum if you should wish to further discuss the topic. It gives people the choice to go to that forum and continue on their conversation, rather than deleting the thread all together and people coming back later wondering where the heck the thread went that they were earlier apart of.
You could just cut to the chase and call it the EQ2 vs WoW Forum...

That is exactly the point of that forum. Only those who wish to be apart of it may, others do not have to go there. People can duke it out there rather than in the main forums if need be. And also, make it where you do not get post counts there like the spam forum.

I think it's a good idea. Once you move all the trash talking to another isolated forum the rest of us can use the more heavily moderated forums.
Half the topics start as civil conversations that get hijacked by 12 year olds or adults acting as 12 year olds.
