Is Aion the first MMOG to have no character development decisions?

Pretty much the only meaningful character development are the stigma stones. Which is great as a bullet point but much different in game.

The good stigmas are drops and very rare. Which means that most of the really awesome stigmas you see in the lists you wont ever see or have to pay a ton to buy. Also, to equip stigma stone you need stigma shards, which are drops from mobs in the PvP zone The Abyss. The better and higher level the stigma the more shards it requires to equip.
Basically, to truly customize your character the way you want you have to grind.

Some Titles will also give you buffs but the ones Ive seen are pretty minor.

Manastones and other stuff is gear progression. Manastones customize your gear not your character.

Aion is a gear centered game, not a character centered one.

Which, in the end, is pretty much the same. Unless you are fighting naked?

Furthermore, AoC has already shown us how much character centered games fail.

What people want is something to look forward to, they want to see their character improve, they want to craft gear, they want to raid for gear, they want to feel more powerful and get some new gear that has some meaning as they progress. They want to see a difference.

AoC has gear that makes no difference (as well as a couple other issues as well). This didn't work and now they are completely overhauling the game's foundations to introduce some gear that matters.

As I said, it's a different way to go about the same problem. It's the same, but what most players are really looking forward to is the gear.
