Hmm. for about 1vs1 PvP all classes are almost even.
Mostly up to gear's setup. Theres tons of variety to setting up your toon spec with mana stone.
To be best pvper usually needed 2-3 full sets of gear with different mana stone specced.
For every class there's too much variety of gear setting to beat particular class.
It may sounds like better gear give you better chance to win easily. Can't deny it but its quite complex to make best spec
Anyway what i want to say is
"There's totally no answer about balance, because everything keep changing in Korean server as well
at first time Sorc owned most things with powerful dmg spike, after a month, assassin became
supereme in all aspect of pvp. massive stun skills with unbelivable dps in 2-5 sec
you just totally cant do anything but watch your toons got stunned for 2-5sec and dead.
After few weeks, Magic resists became hot issue to prevent most stun, magic effects
So many ppl started to setup their gear with magic resist mana stoned.
Assassins becoming trash mostly atm especially about abyss pro pvpers.
When most stun resisted, sin cant deal any dps just floating around to catchup shits.
Though sins still dominator of Rift to who not ready for real pvp.
Most noobs are done in 2-4sec when sin backstab guys who aren't ready for real pvp.
Now you may notice a thing Aion's pvp is still going on and going progressive.
Theres no answer about class balance in my experiences. Everything still going on.
But there's some kind of general balance about each class.
Assasin,Ranger > Sorcerer,Spiritmaster
Sorc,Spiritmaster > Templar,Glad
Templar,Glad > Assassin,Ranger
Cleric,Chanter > Templar,Glad
But this can be twisted by their own gear setup and mana stone thing.
In RvR or Group v Group theres no class to give up.
All class just work well if you know what class do what, for what then well organize group with good players.
Aion's PvP aspect of balances are too vast, huge, and still many area aren't tried by ppls.
Good. Spiritmaster have hardly curable CC the fear thing, when you get in fear mode you can't control your toon and it runs away from the Spiritmaster who casted fear to you (can cure by clerics Purify, but the toon got feared is running away too fast so almost impossible to catch it up for cure) Spiritmaster is good for all aspect for group v group or group v mass enemy Sorcerer is more likely particular situation owner, deal dps as much as gladiator but weak armor and not that good cc ability DP skill is spike of damage especially lv 50 one is. but sorcerer cant deal stable dps not like ranger 1.Stable dps in most situation for a target : Glad >= Ranger > Sorc > Templar >= Spiritmaster 2. Spikes of dps in rare situation(a hour cooltime ability storming for certain situation) to mass aoe target Sorc > Spiritmaster >= Glad > Ranger 3. Spikes of dps in general, every situation which necessary to kill a target quickly on a eyeblink Ranger > Glad >= Sorc > Templar > Spiritmaster 4. CCs in general situation Spiritmaster > Cleric >= Sorc = Ranger
Spiritmaster is mostly for CC, the class has Roots, Fear, aoe Snare, instant buff shearing, and Flight timer reducing spell(1sec casting time, 60sec cooldown cut off a target's 44% flight timer from its total timer instantly and cut timers 6% in each 3sec during for after 30sec) anyway Spiritmaster is very good for templay
I think this has been very helpful information for me also to get a feel for how the dynamics of game-play are. . .and how dynamic the pvp game-play can be.
With so much diverse and out-of-the-box integrated features than I can play up to and eventually experience. . .I'll give this game a shot for a bit.
I like the information you've provided kilkil2, and the talk about DAoC has brought back some always fond memories
However, I've kept this game at arms reach. After spending most of my mmo career on DAoC because of the RvR and then of course getting scolded to the absolute point of no return on warhammer (especially after being hyped for so long and buying the CE edition) - I do have my doubts about this game, which is normal I think?
What's to stop it end up the same as warhammer? some servers being completely one sided. And of course not having a third PLAYABLE faction I thought just wouldn't cut it, because that third faction I think really works. Unless i'm loosing the gist of it here?
From what i've seen and the little i've read it does sound quite good i just don't want to spend the time and money on it when I could have just subbed another month on warhammer. I'm not saying it should be like one game or another, I guess saying if being someone from a daoc background, would I be disappointed?

I didn't played Warhammer but i think it's quite different.
In fact, there's no much deal about third NONPLAYABLE faction.
Aion is just designed well about PvPvE balance, i can say this without a doubt.
casual pvp like Sieging is designed to easy to Siege, hard to Defend.
Siege is automatically will go balanced regardless which side is OP'ed.
Always easy to succeed on Siege, but hard to Defend.
There's quite good reward(Money,Medals) of succeed to Sieging.
But not much reward to Defending(Just Abyss Point that you gained from killing enemy side).
You can try to defend your fortress with people who interested in RvR.
But it'll be hard to defend your ownership of fortress
because most people is joining Sieging who aren't even interested in RvR.
But you can enjoy the battle.
And about PvPvE raid stuff its really well designed.
As followed both race's own concept, Elyos have much more worthy raid boss in their
fertile main land. But Asmodian don't have much raid boss since their land is cold and deserted.
There's quite many raid boss in Abyss, that Abyss bosses are usually taken by Asmodians.
I could see nice storyline and races concept at here and it really changes people's attitude in game.
Elyos used to give up easily, and have not much passion, practice to taking away resources(raid boss, fortress usually)
since they are wealthy enough. But most Asmodian going to be offensive and cunning,
to be stronger their land aren't fertile enough.
As like what i said above, there's more advantage on sieging than defending because Sieging is mostly side that winning.
this kind of rule is going on same about Abyss Boss raid.
Since Asmodian don't have much stuff in their main land, more people participating abyss boss raid than Elyos.
While quite many Elyos just camping on their mainland bosses who drops good stuffs easily,
Asmodian fighting in abyss more offensively with cunning tactic.
To Elyos It's hard mission to keep people in abyss. So used to lose to Asmodian.
Very long wall of texts again, paid my time quite much to explain it.
Thank you so much for your information, one of the most interesting reads on Aion's pvp ever(in my opinion)
I do have one nagging question though, Is Japanese music very popular in Korea?
It's almost 2010, and I am just not wiling to tolerate clunky graphics while being told that "gameplay is more important than graphics". That excuse won't wash with me any more. I expect my games to have both good graphics and good gameplay. -Quote Isoke(VN boards)
Damn sorry. I'm forgot to answer main question.... For 1v1 situation, Chanter do 50%heal 50%dps, same for duo I think. For trio without cleric 70%heal 30%dps i think, For trio with cleric 20%heal 80%dps For 5-6man or more ppl without cleric totally heal For 5-6man or more ppl with cleric its like 50%heal 50%dps. Chanter is one of busy'est class in Aion in my opinion. He can deal quite good dps, and good healing skill. and in mass fight its time for Chanter's utility burst. Chanter have 10min cooltime 5000dmg absorb buff for all group mates that remain for 15sec. And another skill that have 10min cooltime Reduces all group mate's casting time to 50%(2sec->1sec, 4sec->2sec) it remain for 30sec . Both skill is INSTANT And another insta pbaoe 25m range debuff that Lock down 18 enemies melee skills for 15sec(can be purify by cleric though) but this skill costing 4000 Divine Power and 1hour cooltime but VERY USEFUL against mass enemies with melee classes and lazy to desribe all other group utilities. Imo Chanter is necessary for full group PvP . You may saw my video that beatting bunch of noobs farming npcs(Actually they aren't noobs, mostly they have really good gears) 6man group without Chanter no way to beat them like in video's situation
Man I would pay to get info like this from someone as good at PvP/RvR in Aion as you and your friends. Thanks again man. Amazing info that I never came across in all my browsing of AionSource forums. Your group is really talented and your video got at least 4 of my friends sold on trying Aion.
Looks like a sci-fi game with lazer rays and nukes being dropped left and right by flying characters. Seriously, this game would be much better as a sci-fi game than a fantasy game. I mean, with everyone flying around and shooting what looks like laser beams it just looks weird.
Also, considering this game is an MMORG and not an RTS as Starcraft, it is actually not a good thing that the combat is as fast as Starcraft because you control one unit and when that one unit dies you have to respawn and start over (unless you get a ress). Imagine having one unit in Starcraft, how fun would that be?
No, this game seems to be an action arcade game and not an MMORPG.

It's imo one of the best choices of the artistic teams: Variety.
In the abyss, everything looks scifi, huge planets, nebulaes, stars and space currents and space ships, next to that, abyss gear "transforms" into laser-like stuff with spikes and what not, then you have the main lands, which follow the usual high-fantasy setting.
BTW, this post exceeds information and I can vouch for everything the OP is stating as a level 50 sorcerer in the korean release, the PvP is incredibly balanced and every day that passes I have more and more doubts about a possibe cookie cutter party setup, there's nothing like that in Aion yet.

If you agree with the OP when he says that the pace of this game is like Starcraft then how can that possibly be a good thing? Since you have only one unit then you will get insta-killed ALOT and have to respawn. In Starcraft that works since it is an RTS and you have tens/houndred units but in MMORPGs extremely fast paced combat is a bad idea.

Well i've never been a huge fan of fantasy, but Aion isn't a very generic setting. In my opinion Aion has a very interesting and compelling setting with some very cool environments, but I doubt they use it's full potential for the story. Hard to do that with MMO's and I don't think many do use the full potential.
The combat though looks very fast paced and intense which impresses me. I do not like slow combat, but I also don't want MMOFPS necessarily. Aion seems to have a good blend of needing fast reactions while still working off of the strategy base that most MMO's do with ordering your hotbar and selecting different combinations of skills for different scenarios. The only other combat system that I have seen that looks as fun is City of Heroes/Villains.
I know combat doesn't make an MMO as FFXI is my all time favorite and it was very slow paced, but the only draw of Aion to me is this fast paced intense combat. As an MMO I would probably skip it without this. Actually if I never saw this video or got to chat with Kilkil there is a good chance I never would have played it. I think it will entertain me until FFXIV for sure after seeing it and maybe after as an action oriented MMO for good PvP/RvR which I know FFXIV will lack.

I don't think you have to take his words so literally. He is comparing the speed of Warcraft and Starcraft to two different games. Starcraft was a much quicker and more intense play session than Warcraft. He is saying that comparison holds true to Aion compared to X game.
We have an extremely talented end game PvP/RvR'er showing us strategies and giving us invaluable info and you want to derail the thread picking apart one minute thing? This is your opinion that is a bad idea and no one here has even said it is a great idea in the first place. You quoted a guy saying that the OP is correct in his statements not that it is the greatest thing ever. We are talking facts and strategies here. Let's not get all emotional.
Kilkil I have another question. I see often Tournament videos. How often are the tournaments run and are they a pretty big deal? Do many people play and enter?
Also I see in many videos Clerics are extremely difficult to fight, but since you are a cleric what is the best way to kill them? I would think Spirit Master + DPS for fear/silence and damage, but maybe Spirit Master + Chanter for added stun? I play often as DUO and I believe we will be Spirit Master + X, but X could be Chanter or Gladiator or Sorceror or Assassin.
I dont want to derail this thread. Just commenting on the fast paced combat not being a good thing, in my opinion. It leaves less room for tactics and makes ganking far too easy.
For example, imagine you are fighting a mob and then you get jumped by a high DPS class, if the combat is as fast as he claims it to be, any class besides tanks will go down in seconds. I personally dont think that is fun in MMORPGs.
But that being said I am aware of the fact that asian MMORPGs are catered to far younger crowd than MMORPGs generally are in the west where the average age is 25-30. So it does make sense for Aion to be fast paced as younger gamers usually enjoy fast paced arcade type games. But I doubt that will be a winning recipe in the west as younger gamers do seem to prefer FPS games over MMORPGs.
Well at the same time you can see the many tournament videos. Some fights end in 40 seconds, but many take minutes and go for quite a long time. Fast paced doesn't mean fast death or fast battles necessarily. Of course Sorc and Assassin which are based on quick burst DPS but not sustained DPS will kill faster with unsuspecting players, but that is a class design and it applies to a very small number of the overall classes. If you can resist that burst then you can probably come back and win. If you watch his videos also the skirmishes can go on for a very long time. It is fast paces but the battles last a very long time. It looks like a good balance of fast paced combat with strategic and lengthy battles.
I haven't participated yet, but from most of what I have seen it looks very enjoyable to me. It will definitely turn just as many people off as it does attract though. That is just a personal preference that you have to consider when going into any game.

Thank you, truly true.
I just compared battle's pace not meant Aion pvp/rvr feels like controlling a unit in Starcraft.
You know that Warc/Starc both have good strategy in game, but there's huge difference and thrill/excitement
between Warc's battle and Starc's battle. I meant to say just that thing in Aion, theres more thrill and excitement in battle
than DAOC. There's nice tool that you can bring in inventory and use the item to install it on ground this is named as Kisk.
when you set that point to Resurrection Point.
When you died You can revive after 10sec at that point and join fight immediately
and Its too fragile lv50 tank can 5shot to take it down, so people used to install it on
Artifact or Fortress or some secret area which NPCs defending or people don't pass usually.

Totally true again you have followed well about Aion i think..
There's just few classes have bursting dps with fast pace, if you endure it there must be counterattack chance.
The classes(Ranger,Assassin especially)
who bursting their most damage in a few sec, their 30second's average damage per second
is poor(glad, sorc have better dps for 30sec deal i think).

Half true half false about this comment. That going down in a sec thing used to happen.
but which class taking target down in a sec, they used to die in a sec also.
And there is good resurrection point system with a tool named as Kisk, as i told above.
It's not that dreadful getting backstabbed and revive at Kisk, but as soon as you becoming high Abyss Rank
horror and excitement following by your rank.
dropping rate of Abyss Point by dying is very highly increasing by your ranks.
You getting more more pressure by dying that cause lose abyss point.
So only brave and swift man with intelligence(got to know time to fight or run away)
can reach and servive from high rank's tension and pressure so able to get powerful abyss gear the best item in Aion.
Btw thanks for everyone paying attention seriously to my posting.
When i post things like this topic in Korean forum, they just flame on me or ignore at all.
Flaming used to like in this way
"So what? I see your so smart and strong yeah yeah you can kill us but we have no interest and your just game addicted holic, nerd. so now getthefuckoff from here you smells like holy shit "
I've made 3 video and everytime I upload one to Korean sites.
Mostly people replying to video like in that way. just TOO SICK about that. GOD.
They are too emotional always attacking when there's people trying hard and doing their best.
Too much envy and hating are around Koreans. This provide some weird power to them sometimes though.
I used to feel i should born in america or europe or somewhere else.
I'm not meant to flame them but they aren't totally my type, on my opposite side. and too emotional and fickle..
I'd like to analysis and try and practice things for best condition etc and think everything seriously.
So feels happy and thankful when i try something and upload or write with passion and people pay attention and reply to it.

Half true half false.
There's great reward when you and your legion take fortress. Tax is not from ppl
Just Elyos commander giving you(If your legion owned fortress, legion master get extra money as reward )
money as reward in every some hours.
Not sure there's how much time delay between each reward)
But there's no reward for defending fortress.
so everyone gonna try to take fortress, but not much ppl for defending it.
Usually attackers dominate defenders so easily

How is Chanter compared to Cleric in small group or solo PvP and in large group PvP? Still lots of heals or more buff/debuff and melee combat?
I like the information you've provided kilkil2, and the talk about DAoC has brought back some always fond memories
However, I've kept this game at arms reach. Chanter's job is something like Warden or Friar in DAOC if did you played DAOC you know what i mean.
Chanter have special short HOT spell heal 771 HP instantly and heal same amount in every 2sec for after 6sec
(total 771*4 or *5 1.5sec casting time, 10sec cooltime)
This is sometime better than Cleric's instant heal that refill about 2000-2500HP instantly (insta cast, 30sec cooltime)
Both main heal skill from Cleric,Chanter is very useful and necessary for group, solo play
can't say whici is better, theres sometime needed instant heal very quickly when dps was spiked on my mate
and sometime needed good HOT to endure dps keep coming to the target to heal.
I say again, theres no perfect way. For example
Ranger + Chanter = You may have chance to stun a target for 6-8sec with spamming skill from both class
mostly able to kill a target in eyeblink
Chanter can stun enemy for 6sec in every 10sec if his combo all succeed and stun not resisted.
Insta skill 'Piercing Blow' from Chanter throw your weapon and
stun target for 4sec chance to stun is around 50%, it has 10sec cooltime this is importantest skill from Chanter.
but Ranger has weakest armor in Aion, when your Ranger get attacked from enemy Ranger+Ranger or Ranger+Sorc
you totally have no chance to save your Ranger, your Ranger gonna die in 2-3sec you have no chance to heal it obviously.
Ranger + Cleric = You can't have massive stun not like Chanter, but you have chance to counterattack when your Ranger
get back attacked. Insta heal is only way to save your mates from sudden attack with spike of dmg.
Like this, theres no way to be perfect. You always get one side, and lose one side
I think you'd be better to wait and see Aion's classes at endgame at each class's role.
And follow you and your friends gamestyle. Theres too much mixture of classes.
Almost all mixture have their reason and value, its matter of what's better on what situation.
Since I didn't played in NA server there should be many changes by user's own taste.
Korean users don't like to PvP but farm Abyss Point and want to be Best first.
They aren'tt pro at Enjoying game but Enjoying grind for Gears to be on top side.
So there's pretty much meaningless NPC farmer(for AP) in abyss for straight 10hours in a day.
We needed to beat them with AOE dps cause we form group on this way.
This thing gonna be different I think, by my experience in DAOC NA server.
Anyway done with it for this time's question lol i spent too much time to writing..
You guys may ask some specific group or duo setup now i guess :P
Btw, Aion's battle pace is unbelivably fast, I bet you guys never had this kind of fastest paced combat in mmo.
Its something like Starcraft not Warcraft. I usually compare DAOC to Warcraft, Aion to Starcraft.
Endgame's PvP content's revolution pace is also like this.
Things are changing quite fastly even 6months passed..
In a long term of gameplay there was no real winner.
Usually yesterday's majestic winner become pathetic loser today :x
Damn sorry.
I'm forgot to answer main question....
For 1v1 situation,
Chanter do 50%heal 50%dps, same for duo I think.
For trio without cleric 70%heal 30%dps i think,
For trio with cleric 20%heal 80%dps
For 5-6man or more ppl without cleric totally heal
For 5-6man or more ppl with cleric its like 50%heal 50%dps.
Chanter is one of busy'est class in Aion in my opinion.
He can deal quite good dps, and good healing skill.
and in mass fight its time for Chanter's utility burst.
Chanter have 10min cooltime 5000dmg absorb buff for all group mates that remain for 15sec.
And another skill that have 10min cooltime
Reduces all group mate's casting time to 50%(2sec->1sec, 4sec->2sec) it remain for 30sec . Both skill is INSTANT
And another insta pbaoe 25m range debuff that Lock down 18 enemies melee skills for 15sec(can be purify by cleric though)
but this skill costing 4000 Divine Power and 1hour cooltime but VERY USEFUL against mass enemies with melee classes
and lazy to desribe all other group utilities.
Imo Chanter is necessary for full group PvP .
You may saw my video that beatting bunch of noobs farming npcs(Actually they aren't noobs, mostly they have really good gears)
6man group without Chanter no way to beat them like in video's situation
Ask again if there's something hard to understand
Thank you
Thank you so much for your information, one of the most interesting reads on Aion's pvp ever(in my opinion)

Thank you
We'd do the same if you were our enemy, but considering your posts and videos, you are helping, and we thank you for it!

I know about Flaming as 2 way.
joke style or purely hating, american style is more like first way.
Korean is second one even with 914373892467289649tons oil jesus! :P
