So with rough counting you may able to ding 1 level in 2days
when you played 6hours in a day on that hard level period.
Surely 46-50 period getting abit more cliff to be done, but don't be impatience.
Since level don't rule this game at finally but AP.
Because everyone will ding lvl50 someday, but no everyone gonna wear Abyss Gear, it makes difference
Compared to getting most Abyss Gear, Lvling to 50 is just easy.

grind is only grind when advancing feels like work. If aion is enough fun to allow you to play without you really noticing any xp gain then it doesnt matter if it takes 2 hours to get a lvl or 2 weeks. Thats my opinion.

I have a suspicioun that Aion with its fast combat and plenty of pvp (which also rewards xp) is the type of game where grind doesnt matter because you're having fun.

    Yup! Totally agreed :)

There's lots of things to have fun and get thrilled.

Also fast paced combat with certain combo you've got to choose to use what combo on what situation

give you unlimited excitement(uh only for melee..sorc and cleric doesnt have much things like this honestly QQ)

Btw playing as Assassin/Glad/Templar is really exciting, fun.

I think caster classes are need some improvement ;x

It looks good, but I'd still like? to see some real strategic RvR, rather than fighting in random caves and such. Do the Elyos and Asmodian commanders know nothing about fortificiations? If we get some sieges and you know, actual strategy, combined with the already fluid and fun combat, Aion can be so much better.

Think DAoC + Asian design + wings.

Would you say the same for ranger and spiritmasters?

those are the 2 classes I am considering. Dont care how well they do in pvp or whatever, just want a class that doesn't feel.. empty after a while

You can expect that plus rewards in DAoC's sieging. Actually there was no true rewards on DAoC's sieging.

Major people who willing and like to fight dare i can say you can see progressed RvR in Aion.

Korean doesn't want or seek real fight and fun of fighting so its sometime boring

because no one trying hard to do something but want easy rewards(lower reward cause didn't tried hard)

even they could get better APs and rewards when they try something hard to achieve, i made something like this so i can say.

Game system is well done about all aspect of PvP, RvR, and their balancing.

We were just missing good peoples who really want to fight and have fun to joy game(in korean server).

Its mostly up to the culture that makes public's way to joying game.

I played on both cultures for long time so knows well about both style

So i can't swear but can assume there should be better realistic RvR,PvP actions with massive strategies.

Uh, Ranger is one of best exciting class in PvP

because of they have some Lotto skill that sometime spiking very huge damage and they have lower armor.

but in PvE yes i think they have about 20% empty feeling

while all of their skill is cooling down(got to shot your bow without skills).

though since they used to jump and move around while fighting its not that boring as like cleric, sorc i think.

Spiritmaster have no much empty time for PvE i think. They are much better than sorc, cleric

have quite diverse skills and no much empty.

For aspect of solo exping Cleric,Sorc is most boring class i think~ others are just ok

Well I now have an account for this weekends EU beta weekend.

I will be playing a priest/cleric and priest/chanter (since I was a Cleric and Friar in DAoC). I'm also guessing flying is more critical to healers, a well timed flight could provide you with uninterupted undamaged healing.

Also I have a quick question, since I'm an eye candy sort of person - are there weapon particles in the game? I know some of the melee moves are already quite, colorful, but just wondered if you can craft (or some weapons already have) some particle effects :)

    Thanks.

    eh..i don't think so.

There's no way to craft particle effects..

But you can transfer gear's appearance.

ex) you have 50lvl good utility weapon but it looks suck, and you have another 40lv weapon that looks great.

you can transfer 40lv weapon's appearance to 50lv weapon so you get 40lv appearance'ed 50lv weapon

    and 40lv weapon is deleted

It'll be zergish most time because everyone want Medals.
And game's early time its just like War's sieging i think.
But after time passed more peoples started to having interest on Abyss Gear
that required quite much Abyss Point it getting more struggle while sieging.
Because Sieging is one of easiest way of quick AP earning in short time.
2 forces(48man) Sieging team could be eliminated by about 10 defending enemy race.
If all of your members not paying attention of backstab its not that hard
to die to 10 enemies even your race having 48man.
Usually taking down castle guardian have no much strategies.
but 'How to take care about enemy PCs' is up to strategies and Artifacts and players quality.

Wow defending sounds awesome.  I play defense in every sport I play, soccer center back, and I love defense over anything else in games.  Really good news to me.  =D

This is a godstone-equipped dagger.  So, if you like particle effects, grab some godstones.

    Godstones are listed here:

/played: EQ, EQ II, DAoC, WoW, LoTRO, AoC, CoH/CoV, WAR, Aion, Tera, Wildstar and many others that don't merit listing

    Oh i forgot godstone.

I thought about its efficiency only.. forgot its effects ;p

Some of their price is about 20m(silence,blind)~60m(paralyze) Kinah btw (60m kinah = around 50$)

Cheapest one is about 2-3m kinah.

Also this price is 7months after price xP. x3~x5 for early game period.

You guys need to remember that

Kinah isn't that easy to earn it could take about 50hours  to earn 10m kinah on around 40lvl period.

(Excluded Kinah that you gonna need to spend.. if you earn 10m kinah,

i think 5m or more kinah you've got to use if you don't want to be miserable)

Crafting godstone on weapon for effects is really hard i think..

It's not like just a dye that can buy easily or some crafted gear that time and few money will let you get

but only drop off from monsters VERY RARELY. except some cheap godstones

don't think to crafting it on weapon for effects ;p until you buy alot of kinah on ebay.

even though 7months passed away i think only 2-30% peoples

can afford to use certain godstone that they want to use(still quite expensive).

Aion's economy is really harsh until you get some from ebay(or play hardcore).

I swear at least 4-60% of peoples who played Aion for 7months never had chance to get it from mob.

while I PvE so long time, 46lvl Sorc+50lv Cleric I only saw one godstone that dropped

from some Named boss mob(but it was 2-3m kinah one). surely I couldn't win a dice hehe.

Thanks for all the info! Nice to have some input from Korean players with more experience. After checking your youtube videos i noticed almost all of the footage was from air. I'm wondering why is that so? Do people prefer flying or does it just depend on the situation? I hope it doesn't get too one sided and everyone will be just flying, that's why im asking.

I got 2 blue grade godstones in Draupnir instance in 2 days (regular mobs, no bosses) :P both were extra damage though (low price compared to silence and paralize).

There is another thread on the boards here that you may be able to shed light on regarding healing not scaling the same way with gear etc as damage does. In the later lvl's does this cause issues with healing not being able to keep up with damage as people get better and better equipment for dps but no equivalent for heals?

True. dps goes very highly by gears.

No advance on healing skill at all.

That's time and area of player's skill.

Getting stun and 2-3dps class on you more than 3sec mean you insta dead(Cleric,Ranger,Sorc,Spiritmaster is in this category)

Most ranged stun effects counted as Magic Effects so you can resist with gear highly specced to Magic Resist Mana Stone.

So its matter of you can staying in heal range very well in xyz axis while doing something and focusing on.

In my aspect, its be better to have better heal, current damage is too higher than healing to keep up people.

But it's can covered with player's skill to kite, keeping in heal range thing.

You've got to check it out first before whine about dps outrun heal too much.

1.your mana stone setup (HP and Magic Resist to not die instantly, Very Important for group pvp)

2.gear setup (surely, Abyss one is best for pvp, PvE doesn't matter much about abyss one or not)

3.team work (group utility, insta heal on very needed person)

4.stayed in heal range rightly(xyz axis hard to not going out from heal range)

    AND ONE IMPORTANTEST THING

: Who I called as DPS classes are the Korean Grinders on Ranger,Assassin,Glad mostly

(Templar rarely included in this category who spent about 2000$ for his toon)

They used to Grind real money to Kinah(Aion Gold).

They equip weapons that worth about 400$-1000$ there's some variety.

But Aion's dps class's dps is up to quite much on it's Weapon especially

(my mate Ranger using Bow that bought on about 800$)

I think this is really ridiculous thing. Most korean grinders used to sell their soul for better weapons.

This will not happened to NA/EU server i think. Theres quite decent improves by using better weapons.

But I don't think this is normal.. In my view thats too expensive and abnormal to be common.

And even more who talking about dps too much outrun heals, that one who called as dps

he spent about 600-1000$ on his toon. or 15hours play for at least 3months I bet.

NOT THAT EASY TO BE LIKE THAT

But it's common in korean server. For most Korean player who playing dps classes

are using those kind weapon and gears. Weird thing.. They gonna sell their home and car i think

When you mention 1000$ your talking real money??? No way I can play this game if it requires me to take food out of my families mouths to be competitive.

How hard is it to get geared up and run as a good team w/o haveing to spend real money? We have 6-9 ppl in our guild depending on R/L stuff. We are into the exact same thing as you are, very tight cohesive unit that can take on 2 to 3 times our numbers.

    Yes its real money.

My Glad/Ranger/Chanter mate payed about 500-1500$ on his toon in rough calculating(bought on ebay thing).

But i didn't payed that much because i lived in Abyss very hardcore since lv 25.

If you gonna play in Abyss for most time than raiding/pve'ing(well sometime you got to pve for abyss point also)

don't needed to pay real money that much to buy ingame gears, you can go straight to Abyss Gear.

But this way needed quite long time and tenacity.

I can say there's half ground fight half air fight. Just me and my mates liked to float around all the time

because on air theres lesser chance to be zerged and easy to run away from massive enemies.

  • If kilkil2 is still following this topic, i would also like to ask some questions concerning PvP.

First of all, you said your group would consinst of a 2 Clerics, one Chanter, one Ranger, one Spirit Master and one Gladiator.

Sounds reasonable to me with all their traits, but since the fights in this game sometimes turn into huge zerg vs zerg battles, wouldnt a 2nd Ranger be better ?

So far i've only played the EU CB up to level 20 and each time when our City was camped by Elyos we've had hard times fighting back, sure we've been a random raid and wen't coordinated.

But being a Gladiator, all i could do is sit back and hope for someone to charge in because whenever i tried to go and fight someone, i got targetted by a few pc's at the same time and almost insta gimped. ( i have to admit tho that my gear is heavily dps based )

And you didnt mention anything about Templars at all ( sorry if i missed it tho ) are they any good in group PvP later on ? or are they only good for tanking Bosses and PvE ?

When talking about the PvE aspect, would a Gladiator be able to tank the bosses ( equipped with shield + 1-hand ) inside the instances or do you need to have a Templar if you wanna beat those ?

I'm just asking cuz i did pretty good in my opinion against that Chieftain inside the Black Claw Village being same level as he without even using Shield.

At higher level Glad get powerful pbaoe dps skill that including 3-4sec stun effects on all the target around him(required DP)

This is main source to hit and scare zerg with fewer manpower.

Powerful dmg+aoe stun by Glad + another powerful aoe dot by Cleric + and another powerful aoe dot by Spiritmaster

and Ranger also has Direct aoe powerful dps. All of those skills are required 4000DP and 1hour cooltime.

This is our main power to melt down zerg at real quick time.

Templar don't have much dps, also no aoe skills

we don't needed unbreakable armored tank with average dps and very low capability to save 1 group mate for 30sec

    (What Templar standing for)

but needed AOE force(Spiritm,Cle,Glad have good aoe stuffs) and CC(spiritmaster mainly for CC)

Templar is very good class for solo/duo in abyss, (or zerg since they don't die)

But they don't have capability that working on 'Beating zerg with fewer manpower'

Since i focused on that thing for my group we didn't run with Templars in group.

ps. I didn't meant Templar suck,, they are one of very issued class about overpowered atm.

And Glad/Spiritm used to cry about 'we are suck need up patch

  • Thank you very much for your reply kilkil2.

What about the PvE part ?

Is the Gladiator able to, if the group is coordinated well enough, tank most of the time with another off tank gladiator, or is a Templar necessary if you wanna go and beat the heck outta some Bosses.

So far i've only played Aion up to level 20 as i stated above and i've got no clue how it'll turn out later on -  but from what i've got to see in the Black Claw Outpost/Village and even against the Chieftain there my dualwield Gladiator did well.

( I've had those lv20 green crafted swords with +90 HP so ~ 2.5k hp on my Gladi with full crit / dmg Manastones )

    Hello,

First of all i'd like to thanks you for all the quality answers & information you provide about the game and the korean community (didn't thought the grind mania was that high !!)

I've read all the post but....

    I've got few questions !! :)

About that famous "magic resist" everyone is QQing about on some forums, melee combat, and more....

    1) Isn't "magic accuracy" done to prevent/counter magic resist ?

For example, would a sorcerer with 500 magic accuracy hit 'normaly' an ennemy with '500 magic resist' ? (that would mean to have magic resist / magic accuracy manastones set, no hp, but that's another problem :s)

    2) Could this strategy be possible or is their a game mechanism preventing it ?

In lot of sorcerer videos (not that i want to play sorcerer, but purely theory crafting speaking), we see the 'cage spell', which paralyze the ennemy, then the sorcerer chains some lightning instant skills.

Can a Sorcerer A "cage" an ennemy, and a hit him with a Sorcerer B assisting him (without breaking the cage) ?

Then let's be creasy and say the S-B "cages" the ennemy right after the S-A cages fade, and the S-A assists him.

    3) Gladiator weapon switching for AE / single target(s) DPS ?

Let's talk about Gladiators (I played a Glad on KR up to level 37 (got bored of mono bind grinding)). I tried Polearm and Dual Wielding. I found what looks like a dual wield bug... The "dagger - mace" combo (huge crit rate, huge crit damage, fast hit speed). This made me think about switching weapon set regarding to the combat situation...

In RvR group (I mean 6man roaming, or 6man vs zerg, daoc ftw !), does the Gladiator have to switch between Polearm (for Knockback effect) and Dual Wield (single target dps + double godstone effect) or is it worthless ?

    4) In a 6man RvR group, do you see the Gladiator as a melee pusher DPS, or a defensive DPS ?

We really are hesitating on getting a gladiator or not in our "optimized group"... We only have ranged class, and are planning to play like a DAOC Albion Caster group (NOT THAT WE LIKE ALBION PLEASE LOL, ALBION = LAMAH, that said, i can continue np).

We see the gladiator as an Albion Armsman... Mostly defending his casters, but pushing when he cans. BUT ! The 25m + height cast range problem (especialy for heals) made us doubt about the gladiator survivability and utility .... What's your opinion/experience about the Gladiator in rvr group ?

    5) Can we transform into Shugo in PvP ?

Love Sogekebite transfo in Daoc xD

    Ok stupid question, next.

But wait, no, that's not as stupid as it looks like !

Really, can we transform/change skin and be able to fight ? (assassin transfo prevent you from fighting, some item use too...)

    6) Is their a lot of 'stealth adders' during fights ?

I mean like in Daoc, everywhere you are fighting (even in the most retired side of NF...) you get stealthers poping out of nowhere on your healer/casters. In Aion it scares me (i'm not really scared irl, no leg shaking or what) if there were lot of Assassins adds... Regarding their DPS, on a caster group this would be troublesome :X

    7) Chanter in defensive DPS role ?

Let's talk about Chanters ! Ok so Chanters are like Friar/Warden, great.. In 4), i talked about Gladiator in a defensive role... But could the Chanter take that Role ? I mean stun + dps, or is their DPS that weak that it does not force anyone to back off our 'group core' ?

    8) Do the Spiritmaster & Sorcerer debuff Fire Resist stack ?

I mean SM assists the sorcerer, all debuffs, then doom it. If the resists stack, does it have a really good impact on the sorcerer's damages or is it a low improvement ?

Thanks for reading (and answering i hope :p).

Get prepared ! More questions incomming depending on the answers ! :D
