Craft wise, whats better for a gladiator, alchemy or armorsmithing
Also considering that all weapons and armors you make are bind on equip isn't it better to just farm the mats, give them to a guildie and hope for a crit?
Yeah thats what i meant kilkil2 Craft wise, whats better for a gladiator, alchemy or armorsmithing Also considering that all weapons and armors you make are bind on equip isn't it better to just farm the mats, give them to a guildie and hope for a crit?
Everyone gonna do Alchemy its something essential craftskill for everyone.
There's no certain craft skill thats better for a class crafts are mostly about economy(profit and loss)
But since you are Glad, Weaponsmith or Metal armor craft will be useful i think.
First quality thread I read here , I thought players who know what they are talking about were extinguished , thanks a lot .
As a side note I never played DAOC but there seems to be similarities with L2 PVP too which is the only good thing about that game , so this is great (for me) .
i have been reading mmorpg forum for 2 years and this thread made me finally register.
i'm not sure to play this game or not because it doesn't have the kick i'm looking for. i've tried 3, 14days free trial. and i play until i can't pick up the loot in each session. i think i'll end up play this game because those close with me in my current guild definately play this and my old guild (RL friend) already decide on this game before i left them to play WAR. My L2 guild wait for ncsoft sword thing and skip aion. I love my l2 guild most because they pay for my cardinal account. .. muahaaaaaahaaaha
i would like to hear your opinion about manastone spec for each class. solo play and group pvp set up.
from where i'm coming from, we are tend to go to extreme. as suntzu saying goes, if you want to be strong in both, you will be weak in both.
i plan to have
Templar : full hp
Ranger: full dmg
sm: full hp
chanter: full hp
cleric: full hp
cleric: full magic resis
fyi i'm in a zerg guild but this will be my static team. we don't do 6vs6. we run 8 team 24man zerg. we dun go out if we do not outnumber 3:1. i figure there will be lots of glad in our guild since all those skilless player for sure want aoe stun, right?
i also would like to know about guild. all i know max is 90 players per guild. does any upgrade have passive buff like l2 or aura type like WAR. anyone can give links to read about guild in aion?

For PvP, RvR users i think HP+Magic Resist setup will be best choice
regardless their classes/solo/group etc.
Magic Resist is just too important to not affected by most kind of CC/skill effects.
Aion's about 80% CC,skll effects is come from Magic Effects,
only about 20% is from Melee Effects(knockback, fall)
Glad's pbaoe stun isn't usual skill, it required 4000DP and 1hour cooldown(Very special skill).
And there's no guild buff thing, but racial buff from Fortress's Artifact.
If some Elyos guild owned a Fortress then use their Fortress Artifact,
it affect to all Elyos in game(that buff remain for 30min, and Arti have 1~2hours cooldown. dunno exact timer).
Thanks again for answering our questions with good detail kilkil2.
So if I understood correctly speaking of pve, sin are the best for single target dps and clerics/spiritmasters the best choice for aoe. I have been playing the EU beta as a sin and so far it is a very funny class (and faster than what i am used to when i played wow wich is nice!), but like you have said it does not much to a group other than single target dps so it seems fair.
thank you for the best ever Aion post mate, excellent feedback and a goldmine of information
Agreed, since I haven't had the chance to play the higher levels and PvP the wealth of information in this thread alone helps me understand more and alot of what I was thinking is being confirmed.
Hey kilkil2, i have a couple more questions but regarding sorcerer this time. How do they fare in endgame PVP? Once people start stacking up in +resist gear how effective does sorcerer CC and dmg get? How well do sorcerers survive in group PVP, both in abyss and rifl PVP? Do assassins go for sorcerers or clerics first? How much of a pain are rangers as a sorcerer? Thanks!
Not sure about later in the game but rangers in the mid to high teens are very lacking imo for the ranger. They do a lot less damage than the sorcerer which is fine but the fact that even WITH taking the lv 10 assension quest reward bow they do very little damage. The bow does not get an upgrade till around lv 18 that I was able to find. I was able to do better dps with my store bought daggers than with the bow. I dont know about you but when I think of ranger I think of bow and good bow damage.
Now please do not get me wrong the game is great and I love it. I was just trying to give you a little bit of information about the ranger sense you seemed interested.
what about the dreadgion ? could you tell us anything about it? did anyone managed to bring him down yet? i read its like a unstoppable force which takes any fortress in range.
Dreadgion is undefeated yet.
It doesn't do much thing until you go near to it or attack it.
People just not trying to raid Dreadgion.
Korean don't have much challenging spirit thing.
what Dreadgion do is pop randomly and drop some forces to take random fortress.
Balaur not doing much active job, they are more likely powerful passive AI
which sometime taking fortress off from player side(asmo, elyos)
Kilkil, thank you so much for these thorough posts! You have given me very much to think about, concerning which class to invest my efforts into, to fully enjoy aion pvp
If you have time, please answer this one question - I have asked other people and no one gives me a straight answer, and I trust your opinion
I greatly enjoy classes that can do two things:
one, flexibility to play offensively or defensively as the battle calls for it
two, interrupt/manipulate/confuse/shut down whichever enemy player/enemy skill we will most benefit from
Can you tell me which classes would excel in these areas?
I assumed any classes with stun/knockback/fear/etc will be able to do a little of this, but there is no one class that stands out to me. Rangers seem to practically be ranged assassins, with big spike damage but less average dps and not as much utility as I would like, especially since traps seem so bad. I guess chanters and spiritmasters are the closest to what I'm thinking of, but I have not played past Lvl 20 NA beta, so I am going off of what I have read
Hey Plainshifter First i just wanted to say that this is an outstanding thing you have done for the NA Aion community... as far as i can tell, your information is really the first to be so comprehensive regarding end-game info on Aion. I know myself along with many others have been STARVED for the information you are sharing, so i just wanted to thank you sincerely for the time you have taken to answer everyone's questions. By answering theirs, you have answered many of mine as well!
After reading over your Q&A session with everyone here, i feel well armed to make decisions about end-game aion without having to get there and figure it out, wasting months of my time and patience. You rock!
I also watched all of the Aion videos you have posted on YouTube... you sure love flying! I am looking forward to the additional mobility to help steer clear of getting zerged over, and am probably going to end up playing a cleric much like yourself for much the same reasons.
I always liked your style when you played DAOC, and i watched many of your videos back then too when you played the VW. You were always coming up with new group setups and switching realms to have the most fun and build the strongest group setup. I always thought you were cool from the way Jinze talked about you, but i never really got to know you very well myself. By reading this article, i am truely proud to have played and known you the small amount i knew you back then, and i am thankful for your contribution to the Aion community now. Maybe with some work, the community in Aion can make it as great a game as DAOC was for us
Good luck with RL,and thanks again for the wealth of info You should post your old DAOC vids to your youtube account too IMO

wow........just wow..
I didn't thought that i'll meet anyone who played DAOC with me in here..
You was one of the person who welcomed me to join NA DAOC community at first time i moved to NA DAOC.
Guess you know Barcas,Rollingrain i remember the time we fought together against Gangs hehe.
I'm just too glad to see you here and hear very kind and nice comment to me
hoping my english is good as much as to be possible to express my feelings.
But my english depth isn't that deep i can't express that how much i'm pleasured by seeing the reply.
Thank you for the special compliment, without a doubt this reply is number1 that made me happy!!
I wished i could upload some of my DAOC videos to youtube, but most of them have more than 10minute
Can anyone (kilkil2 in particular) answer a couple of questions regarding sorcerers? How do they fare in endgame PVP? Sorc with some gears that Magic Accuracy mana stoned there's no much problem about Magic Resists.
Rangers and Assassins are big pain in ass for Sorc,
if your gears/micromanaging can't overwhelm their gears/micromanaging
its really hard to win to Rangers/Assasins as Sorc.
In all aspect of PvP/GvG/RvR
Ranger used to be number 1 target to be killed(have weak armor than Sorcs obviously.
Since Sorc's magic shield have quite high amount to absorb damage).
Sorc/Cleric is 2nd, Chanter is 3rd.
If you aren't pro at micromanaging Sorc is one of hardest class to survive in quite many PvP situation.
When i played sorc till 46lvl, it was like all Scout classes are aiming on my heart anytime/anywhere.
Cleric/Chanter/Spiritmaster have far way better survivality by their heals/chain armor/insta CC
Hi kilkil2, I appreciate the advice you've given so far, all of it is very helpful. I tried to read all of your posts tonight but it is very late and I am tired. There is something I would like to ask that I haven't seen you post about yet. I saw in one of your earlier posts that you said Abyss gear is the best endgame gear. Is there much use at all then for say weponcrafting or armorcrafting? If not, then are there any useful crafts and which ones are the most useful for endgame pvp?
You probably don't remember me, but I pugged with you on Jinze's champ a few mornings way back when as well as fought you on our albs.
Anyways, just wanted to echo the thanks for this great thread and all of the information. You definitely clinched me giving this game a shot and have helped me decide on the spiritmaster class.
Thanks again, and maybe in a year or two if/when NCSoft puts on an international Aion tournament we can meet on the battlefield!

I've heard that top gear is made via a combination of both abyss and crafting, I don't know the specifics (maybe buy the blue-prints of the weapons with points and then craft them?) of it so don't quote me.
