Kilkil, I was wondering if you could answer a question for me too please (Hopefully it hasn't been asked already, if it has please excuse me,lots of posts here to read) How big a role does AoE or PbAoE damage play in the game ? Like the BW from WAR, it could literally turn the tide of battle with the right timing of AoE stuns and Morale abilities.
Can the Sorcerer/Gladiator(or any other Char) have Pbaoe abilities like the Chanter/Wizard/Spiritmaster from Daoc to really fight zergs with ?
Thanks
mm,, there's kind of skill that affect to changing tide of battle.
Each class have some powerful AOE dmg/stun/buff/debuff things
with good teamwork and timing the thing can be happened what in my video.
Templar and Assassin is most weak class about that aoe stuffs.
hi again! how harsh is losing abyss point when you get killed? how abyss point earning is calculated when for alliance kill? does the group with kill blow get more AP? or the kill blow guy get most?
losing AP is up to your abyss rank. getting higher rank = getting more harsh rate
so everything is up to you. if you want better abyss gear you'll be dreadful to die.
Calculating is purely by percent of damage that you dealt. If you deal 50% damage to target, you get 50% aps from it.
and divided to all group members fairly(but theres some difference by each one's rank. high rank get lower usually)
Here are 4 races of players, and this is how it usually pan out from my years of gaming experience on different games in different countries with different race of players.
Chinese Players:
Likes to gank and make money. They will spend enormous amount of time to get the best gears, and don't have much self governing rules in MMORPG. Alot of bots and gold farmers.
Korean Players:
A bit of everything. They don't generally like to gank much as a whole, but will try to be good players in all aspect of gaming. Doesn't spend as much time go grind gears, but spend alot of time competing in fair manners.
Japanese Players:
Highly self governing as a community. Tend to cast out those that don't follow the basic rules as a MMORPG society. Tend ot avoid fights in general, but when they do fight. They will show exceptional playing skills and relatively good gears.
NA Players (Also include Euro since they share general traits):
Complains alot. Most doesn't even have decent playing skills, and doesn't spend time working on gears. Believes rules does not apply to them. Some are very friendly, while others are extreme losers. Handfull of good players dragging along the rest.
This is my opinion from experience as a Chinese American who immigrated at a young age to America almost 2 decade ago. However, of course this is only a generalized impression. Each race have different personalities that I have met and give off different image as players. There are always the good, the bad, and the ugly in every race.
I don't have much experience with US based players (mainly because the games usually segregate players by region), but if these forums are any indication, there is indeed a difference between EU and US players, both in attitude and expectations from a game.
First of all I have to say, great thread. I read through about half of it but I have a question.
I'm planning on playing a chanter on release. My plan is to do a bit of a "battle chanter", trying to maximize on my role as a hybrid. Right now I think my roomate is stuck on a choice for class though, and he seems to be bouncing between the idea of a Ranger and Sorcerer.
Which combo, Chanter/Ranger or Chanter/Sorcerer, do you think would be a better idea for 2vX fights? Right now I'm thinking Chanter/Ranger would edge it out, due to some great CC, high burst and not to mention that I could run with just physical buffs, instead of having to try and split between physical and magical mantras. I did also read that Chanter/Ranger was the fastest leveling duo, which is always pretty cool. Still I'm pretty interested in what you think, as last closed beta we did Chanter/Sorc and held off very well for ourselves in the Coliseum in Pandemonium.
My other question is how big of a deal is movement in the game? I recently read about the effects that happen to your character while moving, and I'm wondering if players tend to take advantage of them or not. Like moving forward for a 10% dmg buff, or moving backwards for a 500% parry/block buff. It would be awesome to know if it is worth making sure you're moving the right way in combat and how it effects everything.
Like you i played DAoC for a very long time myself, and the Realm Point system is what kept me playing.
I was really excited that Aion had that too, in the form of Abyss Points, but from what i read in the new 1.5 Patch you can also get Abyss Points from PvE instances. Also from normal mob killing in the Abyss?
So my question is how does the Abyss Point gain from monsters compare to player kills.Lets say i go out and PvP in the Abyss for 5 hours, and then someone who just farms monsters for Abyss Points for 5 hours how much points would each make on average?

But rate isn't high and effect remain only for 1-2sec
i remember jumping stat bonuses rates are about 5-10% it makes difference imo.
Overall Yes It makes Huge Difference like AOC(but i didn't played,,just heard about those bonuses).
Only a class is not affected by those bonus that much...poor Sorc(don't have much skill that castable while moving)

i can't decide between playing a chanter or cleric. i want to play a chanter, but i am concerned about being useful in all groups. since kilkil had two clerics in his regular group, obviously my cleric would always fit into a group, even if there is another cleric in it.
but kilkil, what if i join a guild, and the guild leader/best player is also a chanter? will i never be able to get in his first string 6 man group, because having two chanters is not smart?
this is an awesome thread. i have read all of your replies twice now kil. i've gotten more information about aion here than everything else on the internet combined.

Thanks for everyone who left kind compliment.
I didn't had any chance to run with 2 Chanters, but in Aion a group to standing on top in most aspect
it's better to have each other classes(except cleric, only good class to have 2 in group especially for PvP)
Because some class have special ability on some situation, then bad on some situation.
Something like that to live healthy you've got to eat various foods for balanced nutrition..
Surely there's specially awesome situation for 2 Chanter groups, but there should be some
stupid and useless situation that 2 Chanter is feels like kinda wasted.
So i think having 2 Chanter in 6man group isn't that good idea to be outstanding in most contents of Aion.
Nice thread thanks for all the infos Kil. Hope you can answer me 1 question aswell. Like you i played DAoC for a very long time myself, and the Realm Point system is what kept me playing. Almost fair APs come from PvP or PvE. Bad stuff for core PvP lovers.
In coming 1.5 patches theres more APs available from PvE i think its bad idea for now.
Before 1.5 in our versions, PvP and PvE is almost fair way to earn APs.
Some good day my group could earn 6k-8k APs per hour. But average earning is about 3k-5k.
You can earn about 2k~4k APs averagely by farming NPCs in abyss.
Since PvPing cost alot of Kinah(gold), if you are very reasonable person be better to farm NPCs.
This is also included to the reason of that i stated Aion cater everyone's needs.
You like to get abyss gears without struggling pvp, then farm NPCs,
but someone liked to pvp will start to kickass the pvers, then pvers come with their zerg against PvP mania.

What do you think someone looking for more aerial heavy combat should consider getting? You mentioned +HP and +Magic Resist manastones a lot, all the additional flight time comes from Abyss gear? I'd like to use the level 50 wings (because they look awesome ) and they give lots of HP, or should one consider the wings with the biggest flight time bonus? Should a sorcerer add some +Magic Accuracy manastones along with HP and Resist, or are they just too squishy to play death from above?
Godstones are useless for casters, right?
Oooo.. so many questions.. I should probably just go and experience/figure it out myself, but I just can't wait to get wtfbbqpwned in the Abyss
Edit: Oh, and what's the name of the music? I couldn't find it while skipping through this thread again

If you play as solo, magic damage increasing mana stone and magic resist stone will be firstly needed.
and as sub gear needed magic accuracy gears it needed to fight against magic resist specced enemy.
Godstones are useful on all classes, there's no difference.
all magic spell have same chance to fire godstone effects like melee
You can find song's name on my original video post page's reply on youtube
I heard that in 1.5 chanter will increase your hp 25% more ( 15% from buff + 10% def, 10% hp and +50 elem rest with a new stigma)
Then, still being the best choice 2 clerics or cleric/chanter for a standard pvp group. I know that you use 3 supports for AoE but i'm still thinking that is too much for a group. Good against randoms groups but inefficient against a premade or organizated guild imo.
Firstly, thank you very much kilkil2, your posts almost single-handedly got me interested in this game.
I'm interested in making a ranger on release. My close friend will be playing a gladiator. I was wondering about what role the ranger played in your 6man pvp team. My friend suggested that he finishes off targets after they have been weakened by AOE from the glad and SM, as well as CC.
I was curious about how your team chooses targets against a group of 20+ players.
Also, we have another friend interested in playing, but he's undecided about which class to play. What would complement a ranger and glad best? I'm assuming a cleric, or chanter.
One last question (more of a clarification than a question): So HP and magic resist manastones are best for a ranger in endgame pvp?
I first have a question concerning sorc and rangers. they both seem to be a ranged class-cannon type ... so what are their differences? would be really cool if you could elaborate a little deeper.
and second, expandable weapons - how does that affect melee ranges and skills, especially compared to the sometimes low reach of a ranger?
This is by far best thread about pvp aion i read on any forum. Amound of high lvl tips and information is just stunning. I feel like more informed then going throu whole aionsource forum. BIG THX FOR WHOLE UR EFFOR !!! I plan on playing SM in EU release. There was alrdy lots of intresting stuff about this class and i read EVERY word u put in whole thread so far so u gave me a lot of info i was looking for. I just got some small question:
About how SM look in 1.5 - u got any info from high lvl ppl trying new stigmas etc. I know that there is still no flying pet but they reduced DP cost of Tempest/Magma spirit to 2k DP and its 10 minutes nstead of 5. Any other changes or some new good skills u know about ?
I like ur team set up 2 Cleric, 1 Chanter, 1 SM 1 Glad 1 Ranger. What u think about setup with 1 Templar 3 Gladiators 2 Cleric? Templar use AoE DP skill to pull all enemy near him and 3 gladiators unleash masive AoE damage. This should kill everyone no matter how many ppl - ur thoughts ? What was best other team build u think would work good in 6vs6?
How much time u think it would take me to get lvl 1-50 if i plan play around 8-10h/day as SM in EU release? ( im a bit hardcore too = _=; )
I know u must be tired answering nub questions but u rly do great job. Thx again.

how abyss point earning is calculated when for alliance kill? does the group with kill blow get more AP? or the kill blow guy get most?

There's no dominating CCs like DAoC.
In current version theres almost no CCs that can lock down more than 10sec on more than 10 peoples.
In 1.5 patches Sorc able to get AOE mezz that remain for 15sec(cooldown 2min, 2sec casting time).
this gonna be biggest CC in Aion.

Chanter/Ranger = Violent and fast paced duo

hey kilkil
I heard nobody pvp anymore in 1.5 because of the instances.
I also heard you get the best gears in Dark Poeta...and that they are better than Abyss gear.
WTF?
Weren't the fortress instances supposed to bring more siege RvR? Someone told me everyone is in instances and no pvp anymore in the Abyss -_-
