Also, of note, if you can still find it. Download the trial client, which will patch much faster (unless THAT is slow for you also...lol)

    Cheers

I think there is a link to download the client (trial maybe) from within your account under the re-activation link.

Intresting - WAR is also starting their comback campaign...  Two emails in one day begging my high lvl character to come back.. and both games are the biggest letdowns of last year...  And they seriously expect ppl to kiss their arse now ?

No they don't...why do you think this is free. Craig has been modest at every turn, and knows what happened, and is trying his best to rectify the situation.

Either you want to see what changes have taken place or you can continue to hold a grudge.

So, do you have to put in your credit card information to re-activate or does it work automatically?

Former xFire user... I only wanted a game tracker and messenger, not a screenshot taker, video recording, broadcasting piece of bloatware.

so far at least it has not asked me fr any CC info, I have yet to log into the game yet though so we shall see. I thought it was through patching and tried to start the game and nothing happened so after a couple of minutes I killed the process and restarted it , now it is doing another 250 MB patch.

He's a Game Developer not the Dalai Lama,  go easy with the trying to paint anyone at FunCom as some kind of Saint. Whether he works with disabled kids in his spare time, or adopts kittens from the shelter to feed to his Pitbulls makes no difference.

Only way he should be measured ... Did he finally complete the game they sold to me half finished.

I would say mostly but not thoroughly. They still have work to do for sure, with DX10 which seems far more buggy outside of tortage(only played a trial since last year). There is also the melee vs caster balance issue left to address, which I would point out, it may always be the way it is given they stick with their current combat system.  I must say I am a ranger, it really does not effect my class, so I guess I should avoid the topic. I have not experienced it first hand.

Good timing, paused my subscription for a month, been too busy for any MMO'ing here.

Was just about to resub anyway hehe :)

Anyone know if you still have to defrag the AoC folder after patching to avoid issues?

    QFT

I'm a bit surprised  they are doing their win-back before the balancing after last patch is sorted, well it's hopefully implemented within a week.

Seems like the better AoC gets, the more desperate the basher posts are getting. Claiming that someone portrayed as modest, and trying to rectify a problem is the same as portraying them as a saint(?) Seems like it's easy becoming a saint these days...

I can only imagine how this thread must hurt. Players coming back to do their retrials... sweet

No issue so far on my end aside from dx10 seeming unstable. Possibly due to not defragmenting?

Should be one on the page when you reactivate your sub, you have to do it manually. Just in case you were unaware.

At launch a lot of issues were solved by defragging the AoC folder (sometimes the whole host drive), had to do with the patcher's effect on the shipped client.

Reactivated for the heck of it.

Started to patch my still installed retail version of the game.

First three patches went fine. Now the 4/4 patch shows a size of 11.7 GB? Really? I think that's bigger than downloading the entire client.

If this is a bug, how do I get around it? If not, sorry, not spending two days DL'ing an 11.7GB patch. A patcher should be able to modify existeing files, not require every file with changes to be completely re-downloaded.

It is quite weird I took a trial last week, after 1.05. Dx10 seemed to run fine in toratge however outside of it today on my main, there was quite a bit of clipping and it seemed to be bugging my grass. Running in dx9 now with no problems and no complaint looks fine. I still would like to see dx10 in full effect. My FPS was fine I must add, so it was not that I was unable to handle it.

Dunno if this addresses your exact issue.

From AoC Tech Help Page :

My patcher suddenly wants to download 14+GB?!

    Solution:

    1) Run SimpleConfig.exe (found in your install directory)

    2) Click Verify / Repair ...

    3) Check Verify Data Integrity

    4) Click OK

    5) Run ConanPatcher.exe

If this does not work reinstalling the client will fix the problem. This is not a good solution though. We are working on getting this fixed and I'll update this thread when I have more information.

I don't think he was trying to portray him as the Dalai Lama or a saint...

I'm going to try this out and see how it goes. This is a good move on Funcom's part, especially with the extra lvl 50 and the free character transfer. I'll start it when I get back from the beach next week. I'll patch now to prepare.

EDIT: I did the SimpleConfig fix when I saw the 11.8gig file 4/4 and when I started patching again it dropped down to 6.6gig. 7 hours is better than 13.

Everyone in agreement that the phrase "20% off the first recurring period" means that you get a discount only for the first period that you are billed and that it's not an ongoing rate like LOTRO?  It seems fairly clear to me but I know that Funcom has had problems translating its edicts into English.

    Thanks.

This dropped the patch size from over 11.6 GB to 2.3 GB

Still pretty insane, but I can let it patch over night tonight with out interfering with my other activities.

The patcher itself got updated, you might notice some game files in the game directory in different places. They switched it all up to be more productive apparently.

It think it is important / re-iterate to note that there is a timeline with this:

"The re-evaluation offer is valid from July 8th to July 22nd and is available to anyone with a closed account in good standing. Reactivating at any time within this period will open for two weeks of free play - regardless of when you choose to act within that time period. There are no costs associated with this offer or any subscription obligations."

Speaking on behalf of the bashers players that left right after launch, we hope that FunCom has made a lot of changes not based on whats better to blind bootlicking fanbois, but on the feedback the unsatisfied gave when they left. Since one of the Top 10 reasons to return is Social Pets, srsly?, sounds like you guys wasted a lot of the developers time when the more serious things could have been resolved.
