    Bwahahahahaha!

    Oh wait, you were serious?

The paying your dues bit has already been effectively torpedoed earlier in the thread, so I won't rehash that. As for the learning to play your character bit, that gave me a chuckle.

I suppose it applies if Aion is your first MMORPG. However, those of us who have been playing for awhile knew how to play our characters effectively before we ever logged in to the beta because the game does absolutely nothing unique in terms of mechanics. Sure it may take you half an hour to get used to the names of the spells, but learning to play your character?

Lol, give me a break, I've been playing versions of this game for ten years. I got to 20 without dying once, hell I probably never even got below half health, and I also never talked to another player character. Class-based MMORPGs do not require any skill to play, monkeys can be trained to press buttons in sequence and keep an eye on a health bar. PVP of course changes that dynamic a bit, but again, why doesn't it start from level 1 instead of making people rehash the same tired bullshit for 20 levels?

In any event, I'm not bashing Aion lovers, I was merely agreeing with the OP, and at this point, if Aion is the best that the industry can do, I really think I've had my fill of MMORPGs.

Because it totally takes more skill to macro up your skills while swinging against an inanimate object, right? Games that don't use classes don't automatically take "more skill" to play, they're just different. In a lot of cases they give you less options for combat than a class based game anyways. (I.E you don't do much different in UO unless you were a mage, in darkfall you pretty much are just spamming mouse 1 in melee using a couple of different slash types.)

It's not like it's harder to advance your character either, because all it takes is to google what the best set of skills for PvP/PvE/whatever is, and you're set. So yeah, I never got the hate on classes -- I mean they've been in effect for a very long time in RPG's even before computer RPG's.

Now sure, you can have something against the current way companies go about MMOs. However it doesn't have anything to do with being class based or not.

This is going to be one hell of a popular game, no doubt there, but it will not be my next MMO... I tried to get into it, but after trying out many F2P games I felt that same feeling of "I have been down this road before". Don't ask why, and don't bother flaming me. The game just isn't for me after playing this beta weekend. But no doubt it will be a great game and will be immensely popular.

It felt to me like a game called Requiem. Both are well done game except one is F2P and the other is P2P.

"The fun starts at level 20" is just sad. PvP is chaos. PvE is order. If you can not control order and make it fun, how can you have any control over chaos?

    so...

It sounds like you're trying to make a profound statement but you just come off as a tool to be honest. None of what you said actually makes sense.

And isn't chaos more fun than order anyways? Who the hell wants to do PvP where they know exactly what is going to happen every time.

I get it. You copied and pasted what I said as a response. That's witty. You're a witty guy.

You're a healing class though. Did you really expect to get a ton of attacks? You're role in the game is to heal, not DPS.

Siel and Israphel are currently both at high load. (9:23PM EST right now). It's painfully obvious at this point you're just trying to troll though.

I feel the same way, to be honest.  As a spiritmaster, I have a pretty standard rotation.  Send pet to agro, place DOT, use ice chain, use fire chain, and auto attack to finish the job.  I'm only level 13 though, so I hope this changes.  Still yet, the game is quite enjoyable even in the beta stage.

Again you fail to read what is written in black in white... I said its rubber banding while showing 120-140 fps on my quad core gtx 260 4 gig machine lol..

But where you fail is not knowing we can read between the lines. Go away little  troll your boring.

Rubber Banding could be a number of issues. I had a bit of rubber banding issues last beta near the end which eventually cleared up. If you're constantly rubber banding though I would look into a fix (not like you care, you're just trying to come up with anything you can to loltroll).

Still it could be an issue with your internet provider, your router, or your adapter. Part of this beta, after all, is to make sure the servers are working fine. (alongside of localization).

I guess the game is so fun you're on a forum defending its most obvious flaws like some CNN cia mind controlled shill...

  • NadrilNadril Member Posts: 1,276

I'm still playing, by the way. It takes but 40 seconds to type a message, and I can easily do that when running to town or a quest giver.

This thread has gotten boring though.

The amount of content they've released so far for the game in the way of patches seems to discredit your statement.

I think the core of the issue here is the older gamers and the newer gamers. I consider myself an older gamer, I'm 31, I've played D&D for 20 years, and I started MMO with Velious Everquest in 2001. I found myself just too tired of the grinding and stuff in this genre now without really adding anything innovative.

First thing I noticed about Aion is it was hard to block gold spammers. That immediately got on my nerves as I tried to figure out how to block someone and eventually just turned channel chat off. MMO games today should be a bit more intuitive about chat functions. After I get that set up I notice its just the same "click the npc with the arrow over its head, go kill these mobs, turn in". Nothing new here, same boring and mindless quest method since WOW. So I kill some stuff with my gladiator and its ok, but nothing special. The world is very linear, I am moved from one area to another at set times, exploring isnt that fun of a feeling.

Finally I get my wings and I notice that flying is a big dissapointment. I expected flying to be like Perfect World, unlimited flying time and open(anywhere just about). Flying in Aion is so short term and restricted its not even fun, it's just aggravating to me.

So then I mindlessly grind(with the help of kill X mob quests of course) to level 20+ and it doesn't change any. I'm still being forced into certain areas at certain times, the combat is bland, flying is dissappointing, leveling is tedious, the camera angles are not up to par, the females aren't sexy enough, roleplaying is nonexistent, the music is a joke(sounds like Mario Kart or something idk), the gear refining upgrading is boring and too simplistic, and DP takes way too long to build up.

Basically it's a JAAG(Just Another Asian Grinder). It's polished and has hype so it will get some subs, but it's not what I am looking for. I joined this board because most of the people here feel the same way that I do about MMO now, so the fans can hype it as much as they want, but at the end of the day it is what it is...a JAAG.
