Well, in that case i'm sorry about my response, i just entered to the beta and i thought the toons were deleted after each one. He doesnt specify he was using the same toon. But either way, frm what i understand this beta is not using the release version of the game, and 1.5 will bring alot of new aditions
new additions, but doesn't matter..still has same feel. Game gets boring super fast, and has the empty asian feel to it.. patch isn't gonna change the feel of the game.. just add more grinding options.
You can argue till ur blue in the face, but at the end of the day boring is boring..Greatness never goes overlooked, and this game def doesn't contain any greatness opn any level.. the pretty art style even starts to look dry after a while.
Last 2 MMOs i'm messin with is Global Agenda and APB..if they suck, then i've llost all hope and will wait for blizzard's next big thing.
isnt we all just a little bored anyways i mean come on we all goin to be deleted :P only thing left i want to do before servers go live is see what i want my char to look like
(oh and they should make us all lvl 50 on the next beta LOL)
i can dream but it would be kind of fun haha
anyways i only logged on this beta for like 5 mins and then didnt play all weekend it isnt fun getting things for a char thats goin to be gone anyways anymore and i also dont want to keep playing and then kill the fun before the games even fully out

You can all ready see the game will not be all that big in the states when people are saying the game is boring and it is only in the 3rd beta weekend. I played the game finally and I just don't feel it. Game to me felt like I had played it before. Like I was playing a rehashed version of L2 but this time we get wings. Oh that is cool. Not. Am I really the only person who understands both the reasoning and the logic behind not being able to use your wings at all time? Believe it or not it isn't because NCSoft hates you, it's because it would allow players to bypass a lot of content. You can fly everywhere in the abyss anyways. And gliding is awesome too.
You forgot to mention that the abyss is a huge place though, Teala. It's not the size of one map or something. People still play DAoC even today and it doesn't have the biggest world or anything either. Also you could always try and explain why people still play CS1.6 on the same stock set of maps that they were playing on 6 or 7 years ago.
If the PvP is good, the rewards are balanced and the fights are varied than players will stay. This is common sense. NCSoft will certainly add content over time as well, so it's not like the game is going to stay exactly like it is either.
And you don't like the game, ok, but it is anything but a Korean grinder.
Bypass content my ass, it's all about travel time. How can you bypass content if there are clear level restrictions in place, i mean i wouldn't try killing mobs that are 10 levels higher then me, at least not without a group.

You get a quest that involves killing certain bosses in a large camp of elite mobs. With flying fully enabled you fly up, fly right over all of those mobs and plop right down on the boss to kill it. You're bypassing content.
Did I really have to spell it out? Part of the quest is having to fight your way there, not just waltz in there. Gliding is a perfect way of faster travel, by the way.

I have muddled my way through the last 3 betas with something bothering me about the game and I think I just read what it is in your post. The game just doesn't excite me that much. I find myself logging into the beta for 30 minutes and then realizing that I feel like I'm having the life sucked out of me. I don't think Aion is a bad game but it just isn't fun to me.

There are two crucial parts of an MMORPG which have to be 'right' - end game and the start. If EITHER of those is not right, the game will have trouble.
I'll ask again - has anyone posting in this thread actually PLAYED Aion's end game?

You can still bypass the mobs without flying over them, you may kill 1-2 in your way but thats about it.
Don't tell me you clear everything in your way, if you only want to kill the boss? Never asked yourself why there aren't any flying mobs? Cry engine doesn't support it, thats what i read in a interview (that just shows another bad side of the game). No, it's a single-player online themepark for me me me.
It's a single-player theme park already for the DPS classes, since they don't have to group.
Tanks and Healers are designed for grouping? With whom, pray tell? The DPS classes don't have to group.
Whether you see it or not - required grouping is a handicap. It's fine if ALL players have to group. It's not fine if only some classes have to.
I think you got it wrong. Dps classed need to group just as much because they have a greater change of dieing by gankers. All classes serve an important purpose in groups.
Not sure what you are talking about here, but healers do very little damage in pvp. I would state that a healer is a easier kill than a sorcerer / spiritmaster with all of thier stuns and roots.

I dont know why but this game just got utterly boring all of a sudden. Starting to feel forced into groups now otherwise soloing is just too painful. CB4 I got into a group healing and it was alright, the loot was not bad.. but I seriously cant stand this asian garbage no more. Which is starting to feel very much like a heavy grinder.. Combat is so slow and boring I can't stand it.. As a cleric I have 2 main offensive abilities that chain into special attacks every 15-30 seconds or so... I mean seriously im 20 levels in and Im attacking with the exact same crap as level 5.. There is other spells and a few buffs that have been given over 20 levels I just dont see why theres all this hype around this game anymore to anyone post lvl 20.
Im actually only posting this now because I read a few posts on here that said the game opens up at level 20.. Im not sure what they meant but the game feels just like the the first 20 levels just with some new scenery..
Sounds like another victim of typical fetch and kill mission grind boredom that plaques all mmos these days. Best bet is to wait for something new to come along that has actual real story. It's kinda hard to get into lore when it's about something you don't really care about and done in a way that the grind is more apparent.

Living and breathing world games are boring as well, SWG as an example. It had the grind, fetch, kill 20 critter quests. Sure you could harvest, dance, world build, craft, pvp, but that wasn’t for everyone. The thing is the average SP game has a point, direction ect, why shouldn’t MMOs? Why? Because it’s hard, and expensive. It will take one company to go above and beyond to do it, that game will be successful.

Ok, you're just trying to strawman your way out with the first part. I didn't think it'd have to be so hard to explain. I thought it was obvious that I meant only to kill the mobs that you had to on the way to the boss. Flying over them would allow you to bypass all of that.
As for flying mobs you should realize that you could just, you know, fly over them. Unless you littered the sky with a thousand birds everywhere (which would make flying in its self pointless there anyways) it wouldn't stop someone. And yes, it is an engine limitation, you've done your homework .

You're right, and that is probably why I don't play MMOs for a story experience but for PvP instead. (which is also why I'm looking forward to Aion).
It's really difficult to do though, like you said, because you have to find a way to allow it so that all the players in the game feel special and a part of the storyline, which doesn't work if a hundred people are doing the same quest.

Well you kinda got my point and missed some of it. Aion will do well enough, but it's not a game for some people. Someone needs to build a game that caters to all gameplay styles, that game would do pretty good. If everyone has something to do, (lots of downtime activities and plenty of decent gameplay elements that isn't like every other game on the market) you will see less complaints like these.
I preordered, but only briefly played beta. I just cant level up anything knowing its going to be wiped. That being said, I usually get bored in MMOs if im not in a good guild. By good i mean good, friendly, talkative people. The world just feels so empty and lifeless without being in one.

same goes for me at the moment, i quit playing the chinese retail. wich i never got very high in, just for the fact i'm goin to be starting over i just wanted to try the game out BEFORE i preorderd.made it to 30 on my highest, and had like 7 total in the mid 20s. only 3 per server over there (at the time) and went from asmo to elyos adn played korean test server before that. i did check out the new patch last night a lil on the chinese retail, they added most of the customizations and what not, and also can make more characters per server. they're only at 1.2 now so still a bit behind the korean.

Oh no, I fully understand. I think that's a real challenge in MMO design though. It's almost impossible to cater to some different crowds in one game. It's obvious people are going to dislike, and even hate, Aion just like many dislike and hate WoW. I do think it's pretty much impossible to get a game that is going to appeal to everyone.

That would also nullify your "skipping content" argument, if flying mobs would be in your way.
