Before anyone starts the victory parade, lets see what the subs are two months *after* the NA launch are, shall we?  Thats generally a much better indication of how a game is doing. The first month is usually free with the game purchase. Lets see how many people subscribe after that.  Simply because an Asian game does well in Asia, doesn't translate to equal popularity in the west.

So when WOW was launched in the far east prsumably they would have been right to say  it must be shit and they wont try it because it is a "port" of a x year old game from the west ?

You display little understanding of where MMORPGs and computer games in general come from.

Aion did this to me too, but instead of WoW I was playing WAR.

I can tell the reason, though. It's the overall playability, low latency and responsiviness of Aion. I like WARs graphics and theme better, but I have always preferred performance over looks.

If you feel like getting more excited, watch gliding videos in youtube. I can't wait to get back to it Aion. =)

I have to agree here. I also really enjoyed the classes and atmosphere in WAR much more. Man, I really enjoyed the first tiers of PvP. It was a blast. However, the horrible performance, lag, crashes, suttering and so on was a unbearable. First I thought, ok, it's still young. Things might change. But even one year later the very same issues still exist. And what does Mythic? Add new content. If only Mythic had developed their game on a proper game engine or had the expertise to get it working. WAR - great ideas, but worst implementation I've seen in recent years. What a shame.

Anyway, I talked to some other WoW ingame friends about Aion. Those who focus on PvP might actually give Aion a try for most of them aren't too happy with the current state of WoW's PvP. For WoW's PvE crowd Aion hasn't much to offer, I guess.

i kinda quit wow for Aion but not really, quit wow a few years ago but went back from time to time to chat with freinds nothing more. but those friends are going to Aion, so i won't have to go back to wow anymore. bought WoTlK played a day or 2 and just couldn't get into it. looked at the AH checking out the new gear and saw that from 70-80 there was 3 maybe 4 different armor styles and that was it, blizz got really lazy in that one.i did like that changes made to my enc shaman but just couldn't get into leveling him again. but all those people i went to talk to went to wow at the same time from another game (EQOA), honestly the main reason i enjoyed wow so much back then is because like around 30 of us quit eqoa at the same time to play wow. formed a guild on the same server together.

but i know 11 people off hand that is quitting wow for aion.mainly becuse they're just bored with wow and Aion plays more like our old favorite (eqoa).

Allot of MMO's do flight most do quite well, Flight in AION does not seem special in any way. I think Champions may do it better.
I have yet to see the rvr/pvp but Warhammer does a good job there. (is this really THAT better??)
The quest based leveling is VERY weak and quite boring. (kill x of these or pick up x of those or bring this here)
Have yet to see raids . .but again most MMO's have raids for good or bad.
The Drops are few (very few items so far) other games have better variety.
Class's are more or less standard so no new marks there.
Skills acquiring seems jumpy ( not as smooth as some games)
only limited character types (same say races) . . . I really like playing non humans. and custimization is suprizing limited even with all of the options.
No quest or action seems to effect the environment (the sieges are the only thing that seems to do this in game)
Playing in a small group has all of the problems as most other games. (ie have to wait for respawn to pick up the same quest items or kill names mobs . . fighting for some drops ect.
Flying is on a timer WTF?!?
    crafting looks painful
I hate the personal stores people can put up anywhere
    NPC mobs are stupid
$$ is inflated in AH (that will change for good or bad after launch)
    Mail could be better

    Some good points

movement seems to effect combat . . nice addition.
combos help with menu bar management and chaining of "cool" moves.
modern graphics and good style for environments.
. . . . having problems coming up with more that are AION only

So anything else?? I have seen too many games most had good points . . but rarely enough to have sticking power . . . this seems like a one that is . . So/So good enough for a spin but nothing more.
But again I am looking for more info as I could easily be missing something.

No you are not looking for anything.  Stick with wow or what ever game you are playing at the moment and have fun.  If you don't see anything redeeming in aion then there is really no point in you trying the game.  No amount of words from us will change that. And frankly we don't care what you do.

Thanks for nothing . . . "If you don't see anything redeeming in aion then there is really no point in you trying the game" well no Crap?! Why the hell would I be asking people here then?!?

I stated that I was not able to play to the higher levels and listed out what I though was good/different . . AND that I AM probbably missing KEY information and content. . . I was asking for help from people that MAY have gotten to this other content?!? or seen elements that may make my original assessment wrong.

I am not Troling  I have a free subscription coming and was wondering if I should put the time into getting to the higher levels to see what I may be missing. What is the sense of saying "No amount of words from us will change that. And frankly we don't care what you do."?!?!?  WRONG!  yes people's words here will have an effect, that is why I asked?!  And if you do not care why the heck did you respond?!

I hope this does not mirror the morons that will be flocking to this game and I will have to deal with (like in the OB)

So lets try this again . . .are there any specifics that I may have missed that people really like here . . Generalities only tell me so much . . like "I like flying"  . . well allot of games have flying . . "I like combat while flying"  only a few have combat while flying . . a good point! I may have to review that at higher level and reassess! and so on.

ps. if you do not have anything constructive to say do not bother. and note my bullets above apply to most OTHER mmo's also ie "most MMO's mobs are stupid and could use work"

<-- ex wow player as well. will be trying aion when it comes out and i know at least 2 other people that will as well. i am not expecting too much either, but after playing wow for over 4 years, one does get fed up, in my case the game started getting cold after bc came out but continued playing anyway.  im actually quite impatient to see guild wars 2...

I agree totally, I think allot of us are looking for something more.   More then snore "pulling mobs", more then "healer, tank, DPS", more then UPS and kill x or pick up y quests, more then a static environment, more then the XP, "gold" and gear grind . . .

Heck I would settle for just one of these at this time . . that is why I am looking around.

PS. I have modded the heck out of WOW, and even with the simple server/database/script -> client model they use, a lot more can be done (I had simple "trash" NPC mobs being a real threat using multiple skills and being unpredictable - without the standard model of increasing the HP and damage to make them harder. they just need to lift a finger to do it) You would think they would do that here?

  • vancha801vancha801 Member Posts: 23

Well i am currently still playing WoW

however i have had some breaks since Wotlk, wich i didn't have in BC and Vanilla

I will try Aion for sure when headstart starts, hoping to get some more fun in it untill cataclysm or SWtor launches

Velika: City of Wheels: Among the mortal races, the humans were the only one that never built cities or great empires; a curse laid upon them by their creator, Gidd, forced them to wander as nomads for twenty centuries...

I run into people like you on EVERY game board ..  . ready to make useless comments but not ready to help or have a intelligent conversation. (personally sick of it)

All I wanted to know was what people thought of the higher levels beyond the generalities of "I like it" "OMG best MMO ever" or "look it has flying"  you know a real conversation on the game vs some other games that are currenty out.  (not a bash fest but looking for what is different and "good" )

As are the 12 EU/ 12 NA servers which can be found on the Aion website.
That simply means Aion has only 50 to 60% of the players both AoC and WAR had at the pre launch period. (500K each).
So the number of WOW players interested in Aion is far less than for both War and AoC.
That also shows on the number of posts of Aion trolls on the official WOW forums btw. The 60% market share of WOW also stands as proof against the 54% of  last year ... So GL.
The OP has been haunting and screwing  WOW on our WOW forums for months now. Making OP threads to spew the bitter hate for his ex-love. Silly.
So I am glad he's gone for good.
I am baffled what he would like to find in Aion though as about a thousand WOW features are lacking in the Korean copycat.
Until he has his first boss fight in Aion of course.... to be sure ... I will notify Blizzard they block his IP adresses on leaving so I will be sure he will not come back anyway.

look at zorndorf trolling the Aion forum trying to protect his precious wow,  you're pathetic and you need to grow up.

The ironic thing about all the smack talk I spew about WoW is this:  Last night I was on skype chat with my lil' brother and I convinced him to switch to Aion.  The skype channel had about 5 people in it, all of which were former/current WoW players.  I explained to them (being a ffxi vet) without getting all emo about it, why they should play, and in a few minutes they were all sold.  A guild is born!  The bulk of the guild will be from WoW vets. LOL ... I've created a MONSTER.

He was not able to defect a few other guys to the Aion side, however. (they were not in the vent channel, but in an Air Force dorm where all the Airmen hang out, was chillin in the same room.  And my brother was hitting these guys hard to convince them to join the guild. These guys heard the skype chat, and were not budging one inch.  These guys surely do love WoW, and won't leave for ANYTHING.  You couldn't even pay them to leave, in addition to paying all their monthly fees to switch. lol,,,

i don't know if i'd come to this site for advice, sooo many trolls for every game that comes out. for me the best place is to check out videos on youtube, if you like what you see give it a try. there are alot of games i seen completely trashed on this site by its mob mentality that i just said screw it and tried them for myself and enjoyed.

People can try and defend WoW as much as they like.

Whatever they say or do though , WoW is and will be an old and outdated MMO.

Wait the map will get a revamp and people will be able to play a goblin , that's so new run to the shops and preorder now omg.

I enjoyed it for a few years too , now me and my buddies are moving to aion ,cause simply we look for something new.
