There are servers with no queue, as well as those with 30 minutes or less. The ones who have/had to wait are the ones who insisted on playing a particular server.
I'm sorry but isn't that the point of a headstart program? To get an actual headstart on the server you want to play on? Most of these players I'm sure took advantage of the pre-selection program to get the look AND most importantly the name that they wanted, on the server they happen to choose. And now they have to give up 50% of their headstart and possibly the name they have chosen, to play on a server they really do not wish to play on......not a easy thing for some payersI mean players to swallow.
Thank you Ramonski, and I agree.
And just for a frame of reference, here is what the East servers look like at 8:01pm (EST), 5 hours after the start of the head start.

Azphel, 2470, 3h 30m
Marchutan, 70, 15m (tried it but name's are taken)
lol now it's NCSoft's fault that your name is taken? That's just priceless right there. Funny that you mention a frame of reference when you provide one so illuminating for yourself.
Actually, it is their fault because I have my names reserved on the server I WANT to play on but I am sorry, it has a 2800 person queue. Oh and wait, wasn't that the point of early character creation as well? Had I known there would be 2800 person queues, I would have reserved my names on every server. Oh wait, I was limited to only 2 characters.
At some point, even you fanbots have got to recognize NCSOft dropped the ball at least a little.
When there is nothing that they could possibly have done to please you, aside from giving you and your little guild a chance to log in before 400k other players and get things just the way you want, don't expect our sympathies.
If they had cut off access to that server when it was full, you'd be crying about that because you couldn't play with your guild. This way there letting people sort it out for themselves, to choose to wait or move on. They made the right choice, they are handling it well, but you just can't accept that because it isn't exactly how you want it.
I would have reserved my names on every server. Oh wait, I was limited to only 2 characters.
So you're saying your entire guild was waiting for you to researve your name on a server before rolling?
Um, they picked the server, I created the characters on that server. Now that server has a 2800 person queue.
But you said you would have reserved your name on every server if you had known that single server you are on would be "over populated", doesn't that mean you wouldn't be with your guild. You also listed a server with a 15 minute queue and said you wouldn't play on it without your guild. So wth are you talking about, why reserve names on random servers if you plan on playing on the single one.
There are servers with no queue, as well as those with 30 minutes or less. The ones who have/had to wait are the ones who insisted on playing a particular server.
This is true. I have to be on Azphel because that is where the legion decided on. Still wouldn't have hurt them to open up 10 more servers...
While I don't particularly care for Aion, I really must laugh at the overall whining currently going on.
And as for the person I quoted above. How would 100 more servers make any difference if people flock to single servers for various reasons: Guilds, Friends, More PvP, more groups etc etc? More servers does NOT help at all if there are already servers that are underpopulated. As seems to be the case here.
Actually it's a figure of speech because they really need alot of more servers. And laughing at others who are not having a good time makes you a sadistic ass hole and that isn't something to brag about son.
I am going to ask you then. How do you propose NCSoft do -anything- about this problem. How do MORE servers help with this problem in ANY sort of way? As long as there are servers that have no waiting to get in at all, the headstart program isn't filled out, the game not at full capacity.
The only way they could do something about that would be to assign players to random servers so they all fill up equally. But no one wants that, now do they?
And laughing at people who whine about not being able to log in first thing on a headstart is not sadistic. Particularly when they COULD log in, but don't want to go to another server (which is understandable) but then go ahead and blame NCSoft for all the people who happen to choose the same server.
Now again. How do you suppose NCSoft should stop people from choosing the same server? Hm? When you come up with an answer for that, you have a right to call this launch a failure.
As far as I've been told, the servers are up and running, there are no major lag issues, the servers are stable and quite a few of them are not nearly filled up.
More servers mean the 32767 people trying to get on my server have more choices and will likely exercise it. I have already decided to move on so the point is moot.
And laughing at anyone, regardless of whether you think they deserve it or not, IS SADISTIC.

pissing customers off is not handling things well, maybe they think they are doing things okay but that isn't reality when you read around the web and see all the pissed off people.
they are trying to control how people access their game and in the end its going to bite them on the ass, people don't like to be forced on to a server they do not wish to be on, people don't like to be shut out from their friends. Now can NC help this, not really, they are determined to control populations for balance but in the end this will hurt them sub wise.
From what i'm reading you can't even make an Asmodian character (kinda reminds me of War, when everyone wanted to play Destruction) so people are left with the race they really don't want to play in the first place, unhappy people will leave.
I will stand corrected on the name thing, no you can't blame NC for a name getting taken lol.

Honestly this launch isn't so bad, and i would have to argue i don't think NC can do much, they really want balanced servers and are willing to piss a few people off to get them lol

I don't blame NCSoft for the name thing. My argument was that I would be willing to roll on another server (without a queue) but not being able to get the name was the final frustrating straw.
You allude to it yourself. First you try and create a character and that takes hours upon hours because your guild has rolled on a server and that race but the server won't let you. Now you are a little bit angry but that subsides when finally you can.
Then you get to the head start and there are queues, 6 hours long on the server you want to play on. Heck, at one point, you cannot even get to the queue!
Then you try another server and another and another. Queues of hours upon hours.
So then you finally find a server that you can create a character on, only to find out the names you have used for 10 years of gaming are taken. And all of this after thinking what was the point of the character creation period and early access.
So now your only option to play is on some server you were not even considering, without your guild, and with characters that don't even have the names you "reserved"; all the while, the server you chose with your guild (with the names you wanted) are sitting there with a 2800 person queue. It is very frustrating.
That's like getting frustrated at the sun for shining on you day after day after day... it's going to happen, that's just the way it is.
More servers mean the 32767 people trying to get on my server have more choices and will likely exercise it. I have already decided to move on so the point is moot.

actually i don't agree the adding more servers is a work around, i think they are gonna just have to up the capacity on the existing servers. But right now locking out servers is basically forcing people to wait in a queue, play elsewhere if they want to even play, or not to play the game at all, those are the current options
I think NC is just gonna have to deal with the whining, same with others, and ride it out. I just personally don't like the locking out of races and such, even though i understand it.
Some people just want to play with their long time guilds, and no where else, so they are gonna complain, just don't read it if it bugs you that much lol

well i'm glad you don't blame NC for the name thing lol. I truly understand the frustration of not being able to get a name you've used for ever and ever. I actually don't think i could play a game if i couldn't use my long time MMO name.
Its just not the same, hard to explain it, but its not the same to not be the person in an MMO that you have been for years.

You agreed enough to say "More servers mean the 32767 people trying to get on my server have more choices and will likely exercise it.". But when I say move to one without a queue or with a 15 minute one you say you are being forced, so why bring up extra servers in the first place?
And believe me, I can understand the frustration. Not being able to play with guilds I can understand. Complaining about it all day making your day even more miserable is stupid. Only reason I'm even joining these threads and talking about it, is because it's all I see on the damn forum activity chart. Seriously either people hate or love the it. No use sitting on ass crying about it all day.

lol trying to see where i said that, might have got me confused with another...if i did my mistake because i would never say add more servers, especially when i think the capacity can be upped.
People cry about stuff, just avoid reading it =P, oh and Aion has official forums, i'm sure those would be more to you liking, probably less crying. not that i'm forcing you to go elsewhere, just saying.

I personally don't have a problem with this fiasco as I'm actually working a double, so I won't be home until later. But they should have called this a "reserve your name program" and not a "two-day early access program". Then they would have ground to stand on, but to tell players that may have counted on that first day or two to "suck up" losing their lead and try their luck with everyone else that will be there for the initial launch. Well that's like saying, "Hey thanks for the cash advance, now get in line with the rest of the catch-up crowd!"
It's like paying for VIP treatment at Great America and then having them point you to the back of the 50ft line......I know I'll get my chance to try the ride, but you can't help but to feel like you were had........

If your guild took the most populated server blame them but not NC.
You cant expect them to just add servers for the sake of it.
when everything goes to the 15% userbase online per server in a couple days/weeks everyone would be complaining about ghost towns.

I'm not even playing Aion, my gf is though. Avoiding this mess is hard when all i see is AION AION AION AION on the damn chart. It's actually kinda entertaning to, eh, I'm going to sleep soon anyways. Hopefully this mess calms down tomorrow. I doubt it though.

What the hell. I dont care. I pay they provide. I dont care why there having troubles or reason for not giving me what I pay for. Part of the deal with pre-ordering was the 2 day start.
I cant get away with this 5h1t at my job. And neither could you unless you work at the dmv, post office..... or somethn. I can understand if its a technical problem but all they have to do is open more servers they will have to at release.
They will add more at launch why not do it now.
Not so much mad about not getting in (still think its BS) Just tired of everyone supplying excusess and believing PR BS in this industry. A game not being fun, more than understandable. But buissness practice and standards, no , no reason for them to feel its okay for customers not to get there service.
I had no wait times or queue on Azphel server today. I played for 7 hours without a hitch, when I did DC I was able to get back on immediately. Best launch ever!

And now they have to give up 50% of their headstart and possibly the name they have chosen, to play on a server they really do not wish to play on......not a easy thing for some payers I mean players to swallow.
Thank you Ramonski, and I agree.
And just for a frame of reference, here is what the East servers look like at 8:01pm (EST), 5 hours after the start of the head start.
Zikel server, 2709 in the queue, 3 hour 46 minute wait
Trinel, 2283, 3h 49m
Israphel, 673, 45m
Lumiel, 1793, 1h 30m
They made the right choice, they are handling it well, but you just can't accept that because it isn't exactly how you want it.
pissing customers off is not handling things well, maybe they think they are doing things okay but that isn't reality when you read around the web and see all the pissed off people.
they are trying to control how people access their game and in the end its going to bite them on the ass, people don't like to be forced on to a server they do not wish to be on, people don't like to be shut out from their friends.

But a server was just listed with a 15 min queue. Why are people not moving there? Is it because people want to play on that specific server for multiple reasons, I'm assuming so. So yes it's a bit funny, people should move to less populated ones instead of complaining.
Why should people be forced to play elsewhere? would you move to a less populated one, one that didn't have your friends playing on it?

That or wait. But I wouldn't whine about it and cry like a little girl.

But that's the thing your not being forced to play else where, wait in the queue. And would I move to a less populated one to play without friends? So why are people complaining about adding servers if ones have little to no queue. if they wont move. please explain.

But this is human nature =P but aren't people whining against the whiners?
Honestly this launch isn't so bad, and i would have to argue i don't think NC can do much, they really want balanced servers and are willing to piss a few people off to get them lol

Aion "launched" over a year ago.

That's like getting frustrated at the sun for shining on you day after day after day... it's going to happen, that's just the way it is.

actually i don't agree the adding more servers is a work around, i think they are gonna just have to up the capacity on the existing servers.

All the people with 8 hour queue will get pissed off soon, and quit Aion, so you won't have to worry about queues after that!
That's what I call a player hotfix.

lol trying to see where i said that, might have got me confused with another...if i did my mistake because i would never say add more servers, especially when i think the capacity can be upped.

Oh damn, you got me there. Yup wrong person, sorry :P. Both names started with an S and you kinda quoted him and I some how mistook it.

Everyone else, stop whining please. Thanks!
Wasn't Aion released like a year ago in korea already?
