I have played virtually every mainstream MMO that has come out over the last 10 years or so. I am not new to the genere. Mainstream subscription games, Free to play games, Guild Wars(in a class by itself), Everything since early Everquest all the way to World of Warcraft and everything in between and how on earth did I miss this game is beyond me????You really need to check out DDO Unlimited I downloaded it for free the other day and OMG. I have never been this addicted to a game. This has got to be the best MMO I have ever played and to think it has been here for so long and I never tried it till now is simply put..Dumbfounding...It just boggles my mind to think that there was an MMO this good all along and I NEVER KNEW!!!. At first I didn't quite know what to think of it, but I kept at it and slowly began to realize the depth and complexity of it. And I'm only lvl 3 but that's like level 15 in other games. It is quite different than any other MMO that you are probably familiar with. Turbine has really changed things a lot I have heard from the players I meet. Everyone is loving this game I meet so it's not just me. The community is the best I have seen as well. It's free and the item shop is quite unlike any other cheap crappy item shop in other games. This is how an item shop SHOULD be done. (I can't believe I would have ever said that as I absolutely HATE F2P games with item shops) The game is quite frankly.......Fantastic! Give it a try...You will be glad you did! I swear I may never play another MMO for a Long time now and I waS really looking forward to Aion tommorrow, A friend has already bought me a copy and told me I had better be playing it! Quite frankly I just can't seem to tear myself away from DDO. I'm almost 50 yrs old and I really do think I have finally found my dream game.
Now I realise this game might not be for everyone that is used to being spoon fed with most all recent MMO's since World of Warcraft came along and Casualized (nice new word) the industry. DDO actually takes some thought as well as careful planning and strategy to run some of the better created dungeons that is in this game. And yeah I have been told by some that being able to repeat almost any dungeon(the difficulty scales upward each time) can get repetitive but so far I am loving it as I am also having a blast redoing them and taking groups of new players through and introducing them to the game. There are so many options in this game it is mindblowing. But it does take a bit to realize just how good this game really is. Lot more to it than it looks like at first! Also the best party finder I have ever seen in any game and grouping with good players that don't rush is where the game really shines.
Oh and the level cap right now is 20. That's the equivalent of level 100 in any other game. I can't imagine 100 levels of this kind of gameplay. I really do feel all warm and fuzzy all over! .........................**GASP**....................>><<

Well, that's nice, I'm glad you found a game that seems fun.
I tried it and didn't like it all that much. The controls felt clunky and unfortuneately thats number 1 in my book. I don't really have any complaints about anything else.
And how long did you play it? Most other MMO's don't even have controls other than run forward and click little spell/ability icons?
Ohh , and there is "Jump" uhh...... unless you play Guild Wars......
DDO's movement includes running, jumping, blocking, strafing, flanking, tumbling, climbing ladders and acrobatics all done mainly with the arrow keys and the shift button (I assigned jump to 0 key on numpad) and all fighting is done in real time with the occasional click on an ability icon......
I bet this guy works for turbine.
Uhh no I'm actually laid off from a 22 dollar an hour job making the connectors in your computer that I had for last 8 years. (Man am I pissed off). I'm 49 yrs old, balding, toothless, I play rock guitar in a band, everyone who knows me thinks im crazy for playing computer games instead of sitting on the couch watching fooking football on tv all day like they do,and guzzling beer while thinking of laying thier best friend's wife. I also build gaming computers, And I can out party any of them any time of the day or night! And I have more fun than anyone should at my age I know! ~ ...Thank you very much.
And NO I do NOT play the fooking Wii.
Ohh, however I do love to eat Kimchi. I eat a LOT of it and boy, do I stink!
And NO I am not Korean.
lmfao
toothless eh....
I'm glad you enjoy DDO...its a great game
MMO wish list:
-Changeable worlds
-Solid non level based game
-Sharks with lasers attached to their heads
If you don't work for turbine then I don't see how you talk so excited for a mediocre game which had to go f2p to maybe attract some population cause no one is playing it. I tried DDO and imo the game is worst then lotro and lotro is boring.
I had a discussion about DDO in game the other day.
The great thing about DDO is that it's free. Once I have to consider paying, it changes its category and its worth.
But yeah, having a blast, for now.
Like I said it's not for everyone. There is a lot more to it than at first it seems. I didn't like it much at first either, until I learned the complex play mechanics.Obviously you just didn't get in the right group. Or perhaps you didn't party with me! People love to party with me. for some reason... I guess I'm just so cool..Hmmmm I do wear my sunglasses at night (but I thought that was just to hide my bloodshot eyeballs)
OMG I just saw that the game servers are going to be down for 5 hrs today for maintenance. What shall I do. *sigh* guess I'm gonna play Aion with my friends. Gotta check it out I spose... Hope it doesn't bore me like WOW did for 3 years.*sigh*
DDO is a great game.... in small doses. The combat system and large amount of instancing grow old, in my opinion, right around after the starting area. I'll admit the last dungeon in the starter zone is pretty awesome, though. I've tried to get into DDO I believe about four of five times and I never end up getting passed level 3, as I get bored about that point.
From your self description and the way you come across, I'd suggest rehab.
Meth kills.
=P
I played DDO when it came out, and I failed to be hooked on it. Picked it up again with unlimited, and everything I hated about it have been fixed as far as I can see. It playes really well now.
That said I dont like the F2P model to much, and though they hide it well for teh first few levels you wont reach the higher levels in a fun way without coughing up some cash. Not that I have a problem playing, jsut that I hate the fact that Its obvious that usefull loot never really drops for you and that as a spellcaster you will need to buy ($) spell components at lvl 3 be course you cant by them from the normal vendors...
To be honest I am probaly going to reactivate my EU account and hopefully get to play the game as it was designed.
You can buy spell components from regular vendors you just didn't look very hard.
and to the person who said no-one is playing it, My server has a queue on most nights now as it stands.
It isn't a game for everyone, and yes spending a lil cash on some adventure packs is recommended .
but most playing now find it fun and all those I have partied with have turned around and actually subbed funny how it had to go F2P for the vast majority to even take notice of the game.
I call bull on that. Give me a name and location of a vendor that sells Bull Dung or whatever its called... (Needed for a few lvl 2 cleric spells.)
No I don't do meth. I'm just old. For some reason no one ever told me I should brush my teephies when I was little. With my infinite knowledge of science and computers I usually make around 50,000 dollars a year but my credit is whacked cause no one ever bothered to explain to me the importance of "good credit" when I was little either. I also lost my virginity when I was 26 cause no one bothered to explain to me what sex was when I was little. (No wonder I didn't cry when both my parents were killed in that explosion) As for being bald , I have that curse from my mother as she was bald as well (sheesh...thanks a lot MoM!) Anyways what does any of that have to do with the best game in existance anyways? Answer :Not a damn thing! Soon as those damn servers come back online though it gonna be on! If ya don't believe that come to Eberron and I will kick your ass like your momma used to when you was little. Brings back memories don't it?

I Have a lv 4 cleric and I buy it from the vendor next to the arms vendor(the shop where you can buy weapons and such in an interior instance) the shop that sells components for caster classes is to the left of that in another instance near the Kobold collector in the harbor area as well as my clerics candles let me get in game and I will look..

Brother Bauroth Goeth, in the center of the Marketplace.

Yes, I know the place. Didnt sell it. Are you on a free account or perhaps a premium or VIP? It treats these account type quite differently. My free account does not give me access to buy anything more better thatn the candles...
I already have like 400 turbine points from gaining favor and I havent spent a dime of real money yet. And I'm not even off of Korthos yet. Man, Misery's Peak quest is incredible. Had me and my whole group's asses handed to us several times in there. Course as a party leader I always try to keep my group challenged and avoid asshats that like to run through a dungeon all overpowered and badassed like a bunch of horney monkeys running through the jungle on crack laced banannas. DDO is like that once you learn how. The party leader pretty much has control of the whole group's experience once you learn how.. So if you really want to have some fun ....group up with me in game.... Name's Mythis and I'm on Seradon server.... I'll show ya my bio soon as the damn servers come back up...you guys will really get a kick out of that heh heh!
The game really starts picking up at level 4-5. That is when the dungeons get deeper and more challenging. There is some really freaky awesome stuff in that game. Now if they would double all the content from level 5+ so that I could run some new dungeons again then I'd be back in a heartbeat.

free account same as you and someone above listed the vendor name.
Perhaps it is YOU of that which you speaketh to be boring. Maybe you should get a job at Turbine to alleviate all that boredom. And if you do manage to land a job at Turbine will you please put in a good word for me cause I NEED A NEW FOOKING JOB! Man I can't believe those bastards actually went and laid me off! WoW a job at Turbine! That would be so awesome! Why I'd be happy as the janitor! Those floors would be squeeky clean indeed! Man O man O man ...now look at what you have done..........OMG!
My question about DDO.. Who wandered all over the world seeding all the dungeons with clay pots filled with a few coins each? Is there a 'God of Clay Pots with a Couple coins in them' or something?
I blame dirty rotten stinking Kobolds!
