My question about DDO.. Who wandered all over the world seeding all the dungeons with clay pots filled with a few coins each? Is there a 'God of Clay Pots with a Couple coins in them' or something?
Hmmm interesting thought there Ogretoe (btw I like your name..that's just ....uh......(I'm at a loss for the word.....) I never really thought of it...Perhaps there is a "pot god of little coins somwhere" Hmmm ..Speaking of coins how is the actual game's economy at later lvls? Does anyone know? Of course after Turbine unveiling the new design of the game I guess it will take some time for the economy to "mature" How long has the new game model been out now? Bout 2 weeks right? Sept 9th?
Guess I need to go ahead and leave the village of Korthos. **sigh** This has got to be the first game ever where once you learn the mechanics of the game it is actually more fun to group with noobs than it is with the more experienced players. At least that is the way it has been with me. Of course being the social butterfly that I am.............*sigh* Damn ain't forums fun? Sure wish those damn servers would come back up!
I have to agree DDO caught me by suprise as well. What i really enjoy is that it's not a button masher like WoW. You don't stand in 1 spot and hit, 1, 2, 3 ,4 ,5 6, 7 ,8 repeat until mob dies. The Combat is what i really enjoy about DDO. The instanes next.
You can buy spell components from regular vendors you just didn't look very hard.
I call bull on that. Give me a name and location of a vendor that sells Bull Dung or whatever its called... (Needed for a few lvl 2 cleric spells.)
I Have a lv 4 cleric and I buy it from the vendor next to the arms vendor(the shop where you can buy weapons and such in an interior instance) the shop that sells components for caster classes is to the left of that in another instance near the Kobold collector in the harbor area as well as my clerics candles let me get in game and I will look..
Yes, I know the place. Didnt sell it. Are you on a free account or perhaps a premium or VIP? It treats these account type quite differently. My free account does not give me access to buy anything more better thatn the candles...
Stop spreading misinformation.
You can buy lvl 1 and 2 spell ingredients in both the Marketplace and in the Harbour area. The Apothecary (sp?) is next to the Hammer and Chain shop in the northern part of harbour.
I play on a free account and can buy Bull Dung (for cleric lvl 2 spells).
A free account can access the vendors just fine and see the same as all else. You are talking absolutely nonsense.
Ok I'm now bored out of my skull. I am oozing out through my ears. DDO servers are still down. My neighbor is still asleep. Gamestop hasn't opened yet so no Aion untill afternoon looks like. I have been up playing DDO since like 9AM yesterday morning (it's 9:04 next day now) Perhaps I should go to bed? Will I continue to play, love and enjoy Dungeons and Dragons Online Unlimited or slip into the much hyped abyss that is Aion? Aion is gonna have to really knock my socks off to keep me away from DDO. Will my 400 LB. neighbor not pound me to the ground if I don't play Aion? Will my wife divorce me? (She want's to play Aion as well) Will all my friends in Eberron miss me if I slip into the abyss? ANd will I dream of my favorite game as I sleep? And what about Ogretoes? Will he find the pot god? For answers to these questions and perhaps many more be sure to tune in tomorrow, same bat time, same bat channel! Until then Good night/day and safe journeys to all that has endured this very entertaining thread..................I bid you alll.............Farewell ! "Till next we meet"
I refuse to even look at games with item malls / cash shops. I don't care how good or popular it is.
But you go on ahead and let the developers know it's OK, so we can get the same crap in single player & console games as well. What, didn't you know? that is where we're headed, thanks.

Yes we know, but YOU have a problem with it.
The item mall in DDO is the best I have seen, If you know it and still don't like it, forget online games because like u said: " that is where we're headed".
DDO felt clunky, had no real world to speak of, and couldn't justify a monthly fee. It was barely a step above Diablo in its layout. Just a central hub with instanced dungeons. Hardly a MMO at all. Thats why it went F2P. People just didn't feel the game was worth the price.

as most have said it isn't for EVERYONE but seeing the server loads as of late I would say someone seems to be enjoying it now.
Can someone explain "clunky" to me... DDO have the fastest and smoothest combat I have ever seen in a MMO so how come people call it clunky? Must all games have auto target and auto attacks and kill 10 boars quests?
The instancing is pretty bad but I guess thats the price you have to pay for great combat and great content.
If WoW = The Beatles and WAR = Led Zeppelin Then LotrO = Pink Floyd

I would have to agree that many people have misconceptions of what DDO is like at this time. For and old (in Internet time) game, with a new release, it is one of the hottest new games out there. At PAX, it actually drew more interests than many of the 'shiny' new releases.
DDO is proving to be a surprise for many people, and looks to compare very well against other titles.
So somebody found a game they like and everybody has to assume he works for Turbine? lol This game has been out for years, and the people who play it are still glued to it, not sure why myself but it should be no surprise that they might actually pull in a few more people who find they like it.
From your self description and the way you come across, I'd suggest rehab. Meth kills.
=P
No I don't do meth. I'm just old. For some reason no one ever told me I should brush my teephies when I was little. With my infinite knowledge of science and computers I usually make around 50,000 dollars a year but my credit is whacked cause no one ever bothered to explain to me the importance of "good credit" when I was little either. I also lost my virginity when I was 26 cause no one bothered to explain to me what sex was when I was little. (No wonder I didn't cry when both my parents were killed in that explosion) As for being bald , I have that curse from my mother as she was bald as well (sheesh...thanks a lot MoM!) Anyways what does any of that have to do with the best game in existance anyways? Answer :Not a damn thing! Soon as those damn servers come back online though it gonna be on! If ya don't believe that come to Eberron and I will kick your ass like your momma used to when you was little. Brings back memories don't it?
Thank you for the Bio.

A little more than we needed to know.. But thanks!
O and I'm a little old lady from............
Sorry, but that game that you are playing...............................
DDO is a F2P and that tells me everything. You telling me about your life, Well this is MMORPG and not your personal forum.
..its a guideline, not a rule, as players we must remember: Its a Game.
I am currently testing out DDO, and the fun factor has improved since it's release, which I couldn't play past a few days when I bought it. "So far" I have a level 3 Rogue and 2 Cleric and am using a f2p account. I'm not sure about future play functionality, the DDO store either, from my understanding if you want to level past Lvl 4, you need to get something from the store to do so. Games not really clear about it either or if it's possible with the few "store points" you get ingame by earning favor. I think F2P people have a massive debt of Xp to make up vs. "premium or VIP" members too.
So not 100% sure yet, it's "fun" for me, but if the grind for f2p is going to be worse for me just because i'm not shelling out $15 a month might get old fast.
"There is only one thing of which I am certain, and that's nothing is certain."
I have played virtually every mainstream MMO that has come out over the last 10 years or so. I am not new to the genere. Mainstream subscription games, Free to play games, Guild Wars(in a class by itself), Everything since early Everquest all the way to World of Warcraft and everything in between and how on earth did I miss this game is beyond me????You really need to check out DDO Unlimited I downloaded it for free the other day and OMG. I have never been this addicted to a game. This has got to be the best MMO I have ever played and to think it has been here for so long and I never tried it till now is simply put..Dumbfounding...It just boggles my mind to think that there was an MMO this good all along and I NEVER KNEW!!!. At first I didn't quite know what to think of it, but I kept at it and slowly began to realize the depth and complexity of it. And I'm only lvl 3 but that's like level 15 in other games. It is quite different than any other MMO that you are probably familiar with. Turbine has really changed things a lot I have heard from the players I meet. Everyone is loving this game I meet so it's not just me. The community is the best I have seen as well. It's free and the item shop is quite unlike any other cheap crappy item shop in other games. This is how an item shop SHOULD be done. (I can't believe I would have ever said that as I absolutely HATE F2P games with item shops) The game is quite frankly.......Fantastic! Give it a try...You will be glad you did! I swear I may never play another MMO for a Long time now and I waS really looking forward to Aion tommorrow, A friend has already bought me a copy and told me I had better be playing it! Quite frankly I just can't seem to tear myself away from DDO. I'm almost 50 yrs old and I really do think I have finally found my dream game.
Now I realise this game might not be for everyone that is used to being spoon fed with most all recent MMO's since World of Warcraft came along and Casualized (nice new word) the industry. DDO actually takes some thought as well as careful planning and strategy to run some of the better created dungeons that is in this game. And yeah I have been told by some that being able to repeat almost any dungeon(the difficulty scales upward each time) can get repetitive but so far I am loving it as I am also having a blast redoing them and taking groups of new players through and introducing them to the game. There are so many options in this game it is mindblowing. But it does take a bit to realize just how good this game really is. Lot more to it than it looks like at first! Also the best party finder I have ever seen in any game and grouping with good players that don't rush is where the game really shines. Oh and the level cap right now is 20. That's the equivalent of level 100 in any other game. I can't imagine 100 levels of this kind of gameplay. I really do feel all warm and fuzzy all over! .........................**GASP**....................>><<
I have played DDO long time ago but I wouldn't say I have played mainstream mmo or countless F2P.
However, DDO is a high quality game that I already heard Turbine planned for DDO since I was playing AC2.
DDO has very good quality, intelligent AI, all sort of armors/weapons, and it's really fun to play.
If you said LOTRO has best community, I'd say DDO has even better community. I played DDO for 7 months until level cap at lv13, now it is F2P with level cap at 20. DDO certainly would be the best F2P on the market.
I wondered if Turbine planned to introduce item shop in DDO.
I am currently testing out DDO, and the fun factor has improved since it's release, which I couldn't play past a few days when I bought it. You can buy that item in the store, yes, but it's easy to get it for free, random quest reward or in chests.
I lvled 2 chars while my account was F2P and I got them before lvl 4.

Ok , here we go again. It continues to amaze and astound me that so oo ooooo many people on this little planet and these forums no longer have a sense of humor whatsoever! I don't really care what people make of my posts but I'm here to tell ya now and listen good.... "That's some funny ass shit right there now. I don't care WHO ya are" And speaking of a Bio!!! This one right hare now will make you weep with envy..... Hare it is in all it's glory
Extreme altercations of the mind over many years have produced unforeseen effects upon the man allowing manipulation and utilization of unknown energies producing strange and mysterious events to manifest in the presense of the man when agitated. Therefore transforming the man into an entity that is more than a man, thus creating a Wizard. Enemies of this entity would take heed to fear the Wizard. Friends of this entity shall embrace the Wizard. All others wouldst best be advised to utilize extreme caution when dealing with the Wizard, lest thier perceptions of thier own reality be forever altered by the will of the Wizard.
Man can I lay it on thick or what? Right now I am laughing so hard I just might. JUST MIGHT mind you! Shit in my pants!
BTW that's my in game bio, Am I cool or what? Go ahead admit it! The truth shall set you free.
This is the most entertaining thread I have read in years if I don't mind saying so myself.
DDO's movement includes running, jumping, blocking, strafing, flanking, tumbling and acrobatics all done mainly with the arrow keys and the shift button (I assigned jump to 0 key on numpad) and all fighting is done in real time with the occasional click on an ability icon......
I have to agree with above posts, this is a fake / commandite from Turbine...
Although it's badly done, because you never, NEVER post in such massive chunks of texts. This is basic ergonomy for comp reading: Space out A LOT!
Plus, the overeager tone is actually off-putting.
Honestly, if you work in internet communications, consider another venue, really. (And don't look at me like that, I do have some inklings of what I'm speaking, despite (or because) not being a 50-something man.)
Oh, one more thing: a game like Shaiya has all the moves you mentioned above (although it is sort of clunky too, and not my main choice of game). There are a lot of games where you don't simply click on an attack icon, but have either to organise them beforeand (Dofus, Chronicles of Spellborn), as well as aim, control your moves and generally think.
It is the best F2P by far, and so far it’s the only free to play where I actually want to spend money on the cash shop and don’t feel ripped.. I’ll get deeper into the game once I get further into Aion.
If you don't work for turbine then I don't see how you talk so excited for a mediocre game which had to go f2p to maybe attract some population cause no one is playing it. I tried DDO and imo the game is worst then lotro and lotro is boring.
havn't you heard? "thinking" isn't cool in video games.
From your self description and the way you come across, I'd suggest rehab. Meth kills.

What's with all the false-stereotypical gamer troll posts lately?
A sure sign that you are in an old, dying paradigm/mindset, is when you are scared of new ideas and new technology. Don't feel bad. The world is moving on without you, and you are welcome to yell "Get Off My Lawn!" all you want while it happens. You cannot, however, stop an idea whose time has come.

Damn that's great. You got my head spinning with that one. Guess that's just an old habit from being a human being. Even when we were little kids it was always "Spin me around" "Swimg me higher" "Make me puke" "Drive down that hill at 120 M.P.H. , I love it when my stomach jumps up into my chest! And then there was pot and booze and who the hell knows what else? Uhh... what was we talking about anyways? Anyways keep that shit coming (I remember when I used to pay good money for that shit) lol
BTW is your head spinning now? And did I happen to mention how cool I was?

Hey here is something now:
An appology! I was wrong. Somehow I managed to miss it, depsite visiting all of the above vendors over a few days...
Isn't the Internet Great
A little more than we needed to know.. But thanks!
O and I'm a little old lady from............
Sorry, but that game that you are playing...............................
DDO is a F2P and that tells me everything. You telling me about your life, Well this is MMORPG and not your personal forum.
Did I mention how cool I am?
OMG!
March on! - Lets Invade Pekopon
havn't you heard? "thinking" isn't cool in video games.

Wow, am I dreaming or someone had the balls to compare DDO with Shaiya ? oO

Uhh...uh...mmm ....
I think I am gonna go and play some DDO now so I'l see you all in game . You know you wanna be there. Oh, wait .....damn!
I gotta install Aion first......Damn. So many games .....So little time.......Damn!
