death meant something at the start. Good items lasted you months. None of this new weapon every level crap that devalues a good drop. Huge world. Adventure in dungeons instead of run through as fast as poss. Great community, even better trade community!

Too many mmo's are just designed as time sumps for their own sake (even the new ones like Aion and CO) they ultimately beocome just souless grinds - MxO was flawed, but it actually attempted to be something more, it had great combat and was built arouond the notion of the player being involved in the story and being made a part the world as a whole....something 'in development mmo's are trying to talk up as something new, it actually attempted 6 years ago and imo if Monolith had the nescessary resources or SoE had understood that MxO wasnt just everquest in a city it would have become a great success.

I know it's not cool to say so but I'm going to go with World of Wacraft.
Six years of Ultima Online would definately make it my fav of all time. Still waiting for the game that brings life to MMOs like UO did.

Neocron, despite the bugs, sych errors on login and zoning it was the best mmo time I have ever had.. ever!
I doubt any MMO will ever bring Anarchy Online down from its pole position
