I'm not one to rant...much...but I feel the need to. Didn't even know about this game until I had an OB key, played that, thought I found my fix and pre-ordered. Made a templar at launch...leveled him to 26...soon found out that the only "respectable"..."tanks" are templars...gay....I don't want to tank all the time, and besides that I'm bored to tears in the abyss and anything past lvl 25. PvP is anything but entertaining in this game. Make a chanter...love the class...good solo....lvl 26....in the abyss....bored to tears. Nice graphics, lame instances, the gameplay and content is weak. I thought this super grindfest was an answer to my EQ2 woes, dead wrong. Oh and crafting is pretty mediocre too, the inability to have control over greater output is just not needed. Spent 500K+ trying to make blue armor only to get not one piece....lame. Another 50$ 30 day trial...err 37 here....wont need it though. FIN.

Oh, and to the WoW-haters.. as juvenile as some of the trade chat can be, Aion's chat was far far worse - at least on the servers I tried. As always, getting a good guild and turning off general chat works wonders. But to suggest Aion players are somehow more sophisticated than WoW players is laughable. Same people - different game.

You can only blame yourself. You guys jump on every hype-wagon going on. AoC, War, now Aion. You prefer shallow games where more money was spent on marketing and trailers than on the actual gameplay. You whine here that there's no MMO around, yet you never bother to try Fallen Earth, EVE or VG.
Tried them all, not impressed. Without going into detail and adding to the negativity that most here like to spew, I'll just say that so far Aion is the game that has kept my attention the most. Same here. I had high hopes for Aion, had planned to buy it, and even started to get caught up in the hype, but after the Warhammer debacle I promised myself I'd wait at least a couple of months after a new MMO is released before playing it. That way they have time to fix major bugs/balance problems and let's the server populations sort themselves out. Plus it let's me find out how the community feels about it.

There are still a lot of people playing this game. Check it out for yourself. Most of the people that don't like it have left so their is little complaining. The gameplay has VERY VERY few bugs and balence is good since classes are mirroed across races. You might be suprised to see how much you like Aion now that a lot of "Weekend" mmo players have passed on.

"Weekend mmo players"...I have no idea what this means or indeed what it does to support the game you enjoy, also how would the game be more enjoyable with less players, unless you mean the queue troubles to even play the game.
Sorry but this sort of comment helps little to encourage new players, then again what do I know as I wont be subbing and thus just a "weekend" player.
If someone had came up to me in 1980 when I was on my Atari 2600 and said we will be playing games with thousands of people at the same time.I guess my response would have been,"but I only have 2 joysticks"
Now at level 26 I fully agree. I just cannot take the grind anymore. I LOVE the way the game looks and sounds. But the horrible quest XP payout, and the constant grinding to level up is simply not well thought out to have a nice progression through the game. I'm very let down at this point, and I simply cannot continue playing at this point. This is the second year in a row i've been let down by a MMO game (Last year was Warhammer).
've played every MMO and with each new one, I find I'm quitting them faster than the one before it. I'm really not getting my hopes up for SWTOR and I'm a HUGE Bioware fanboy. I mean, I'm buying collector's editions of both Dragon Age and Mass Effect 2 on both PC and 360.
On topic though, I also quit playing Aion at level 27 as a Spiritmaster. I never played this class in beta and it was pretty much my last choice to play as in the retail release. I really was enjoying my time with the game until I had to grind 3 hours for a spirit drop. Yeah, I've had my share of this experience (EQ1). I don't know what happened but I just got bored of the game. MMO gamers are a fickle bunch indeed.
Honestly, someone needs to kick this genre in the balls and step outside the box. I know companies see dollar signs in their eyes and they take the easy approach but Fallen Earth is the only MMO I'm subscribed to simply because it's not more of the same.
I find that when you play a certain genre alot, like mmos, there is only one thing that is truly important when getting into a new game. It must have more of what we liked in previous mmos and less of what we didnt. besides, innovation is going on all the time. doesnt always work, but its there. Age of Conan, Fallen Earth and a few others. You cant complain about games that try to do certain things different. some suck but some dont. Getting all the eggs in one basket is hard.
If you stand VERY still, and close your eyes, after a minute you can actually FEEL the universe revolving around PvP.
Same feeling here... lack of dungeons, repetitive grindy quests... ho-hum.... I love my enchanter tho. The only fun part of the game past 25 is pvp and other than that is boring as hell. PvP can be fun if the rifts open and you go to the otherside and gank someone or get ganked.. that's the only saving grace of this game. I wish the rifts open more often instead of like once every 2 hours and only a few minutes. The only problem is true PVP is only sporadic.. most of the time people are bunched safely in huge groups and roaming around ganking soloers or rift camping.
Cancelled my pre-order in OB, never even got to lvl 10 and I saw the game for what it was. Logging on to a game to run errands, awesome, I do that in RL. Like today in MMORL: I started off by going to the bank to drop off X amount of dollars, then I hit up the grocery store and got X amount of food and Y amount of drink. I then dropped my supplies off to the quest giver, (girlfriend), who in return gave me good XP I guess you could say. I then realized I forgot to put gas in my mount, (car), and to refill my energy, (Red Bull), so I drove up to the gas station and got X amount of gas along with Y amount of energy regen. As I was walking back to my mount I almost got into some PvP action with another MMORL player of different race. Fortunately, we were able to set aside our differences when we realized we were of the same faction, (he works the same career field that I do). Best thing about it is MMORL is F2P!
Currently Playing: Toying around with AoC and bored with Darkfall
Thinking of Playing: Fallen Earth or Darkfall after this months update.
Have Played: EQ1, EQ2, WoW, WAR, Vanguard, EvE, Requiem, PW, Lotro, Lineage2, AoC, SWG...

Wow - the trolls just keep getting better and better... hilarious!!!
Anyways you got to level 10 - you know absolutely nothing about the game. That's like saying "I played WoW - I got to level 6 and I knowz all"... level 10 takes what... 2-3 hours? You didn't even touch the game - yet your coming here acting like an expert.
One thing I WILL agree with you abou though.. is the questing is the same ole standard "run of the mill". Nothing intuitive here... but neither does LOTRO, WoW, EQ, AoC, etc, etc. They ALL have this type of quest system. Maybe... JUST MAYBE... you don't like themepark based MMOs?

LMAO, thats funny as hell. I did get beyond level 10 but just didn't care for the game.

It must be nice having 50 bucks to throw away like that on a product you know nothing about. What you described (the quest system, that seems to be your problem with it) could have easily been made clear just by talking to anyone on any Aion forum. They could have filled you in on that. Yet you just forked over 50 bucks, didnt like it and made a point to let us know about it. Well done.
I wish I had money to throw away. When I buy a game, I make sure I will like it, and after much thought and research (for about a month now) I bought it and Im having a blast.

If a game isn't fun from the begining, why would you keep playing past level 10? When I started with wow it was instant fun. In my mind Aion doesn't offer anything new that I can't get from playing wow. So I just don't see the point. I really tried giving it a chance, and I almost fooled myself. Lesson learned, I will play wow. I won't stop trying other games, but I won't actually kid myself that anything will be better than wow.

Yes, that's right I got to about lvl 10 in your shit game and got bored, what of it? Frankly I'm quite surprised in this 16 page thread of how dull and boring Aion is that the average lvl of a person getting bored is 20-25, I would have thought it much earlier on. The whole fad of grinding to get to the end game of awesomeness is dying or has already died. If your making a game that's focusing on nothing but end game and everything up to that point is just shit then that just isn't gonna cut it these days, it's been done over and over and over. Companies need to get real and come up with something a bit more innovative and perhaps start using their fucking brains instead of putting an MMO together compromised of bits and pieces of other MMO's. Also, in case you couldn't catch the sarcasm of my prior post, I'll clarify, it was SARCASM.
Edit here: That's awesome you named some other games with similar quest systems. You listed a bunch of games that were out way before Aion so I'm unsure what your point is other than Aion does nothing new except throw in some wings, weeeeee!

Then its super simple... go play WoW?
Really not all that hard... I played WoW for years - and I personally think its completely rubbish now (and was once an absolutely great game IMO)..
Aion is very different.. but if you're stuck in the mindset that nothing will be better than WoW - than simply nothing will. You had fun at level 6 in WoW? I'd love to ask what class you were that showed so much awesome. Lvl 1-10 in Aion is very similar to 1-10 in WoW. Both aren't all that enjoyable IMO... you will only get back what you give.... and if you give nothing don't expect to get anything back

Holy crap dude! That is hilarious! Someone stole my post! I've never heard of such a thing. Not me, never even been to that site mmorpg.com is my only mmo surf.
Yeah, that MMOXE is some gold selling site. One of their cronies must have copied my post and if ya noticed, they put their website in there. I googled it, just a gold seller.
So you say.
imagine flames we were getting when we said that aion is terribly boring last winter..
Glad I waited this time.

Momo sucks, I have proof.
I wasn't so much depressed with the grind aspect (which I knew would be there) as I have been with the obscene amount of bots and spammers.
I know it's a brand-new game, but it's out of control if you don't /block them.
I have already cancelled my sub due to this, but if they show they're serious about getting rid of the bots before the 37 days are up, I'll resub.
....
HA! You think Real life is free to play?
Which Final Fantasy Character Are You?
Final Fantasy 7
