Being new to the game (about 4 weeks old with off and on game play) and wanting a clan devoted to helping out new players I went ahead and join the NEW clan. They are a nice bunch of folks willing to help you out but there is one big problem. It seems every little hacker in the game who wants to be a PVP "GOD" targets the NEW clan.
First these d-bags make their own 1 man clan and then they declare war on the NEW clan so that they can grief the NEW clan members who are surprise all new players. Being a new player you can't really kill much aside from goblins and it gets old sitting in town naked waiting for a pk'ing and hacking moron to get bored at killing NEW clan members.
Currently there is a guy by the name of Darth Vader who is killing all NEW clan members in Sandbrook which is the human n00b town. He is doing an effective job along with a few other 1 man clan PK'ers of destorying the NEW clan and its membership thus defeating attempts at getting new players situated and setup in DFO. So while I don't mind getting pk'd while hunting goblins by a red player I do however mind it when its done over and over again by 1 guy in a 1 man clan killing people and hacking while he doing so which is completely lame and game destorying. Oh and before you say "REPORT HIM" I and many other NEW clan members have done so and nothing has happened period.

yup this is the major flaw in this NEW guild concept. the game mechanics mean your only fully protected in starter zones if you are unclanned. so joining a clan is actually probably the least safe thing to do as a noob
My blog:
It's mostly politics really. Alot of people think NEW is a front for Cairn Alliance. Being that it's "carebear" to have a big alliance they dont like anything remotely close to CA.
Of course their are alot of assholes too!
If your looking for a good clan try Bloodstone Syndicate or one of our Allied Clans. We have a nice city and hamlet and is very willing to help out new players.

lol you reported someone for killing you in DF?
while I see where you are coming from and agree with you dont think GMs will do anything...its allowed to do what he does.
Now get all of you together and gank the motherfucker, last I saw there were 200 members in new, plenty to kill the noob
Or get Black Shields members to camp the town for a few weeks and drive him out
these NEW guilds (theres actually one on each server) could always just not actually recruit new players but simply help them meaning they could stay unclanned and be protected by towers from any griefers.

He was reported because he was hacking. The NEW members who killed him last night pointed out that he was using some sort of aim bot because his shots never missed period, his stamina never ran out and he ran crazy fast. It took several players to finally kill this guy last night. I was listening in on the entire thing on Mumble.
Examples of hacking in DFO which is rampant, and I say this because I saw someone flying around a few days ago. Apparently the code in DFO is very insecure and easy to hack.

Being killed by legitimate PK'ers is not a big issue with me it happens. Being killed by a hacker who creates a one man clan (WFT is up with that mechanic anyways, they need to make it so you actually need more then 1 person to create a clan.) to kill NEW clan members is just plain game breaking and stupid.
(Edit: There were also reports of him killing people who had left the area entirely but somehow he still managed to find them several times in a row. This points to a teleport hack IMHO.
Oh this is a perfect example of what I was talking about when I say he was said to be running around quickly with no stamina loss.

Yeah this is aswell an issue on EU 1. New City is more often patrouled by gankers as any goblin spots near starter towns ....
I knew there were a lot of scum bags in DF but didnt think they were so many ...

I still have not joined NEW but it is really unfortunate it is that bottom feeders target a clan setup to help new players.
Darkfall NEEDS all the new players it can get. A game that does not bring in new blood but bleeds from the top, is a game that is going nowhere. ANYONE who plays Darkfall and likes the game, wants it to do well and so on, would be wise to support NEW. By doing so new players are eased into the game, learn the ropes and then stick with the game.
If these idiots just grief newbs 24/7 all it will do is force many to quit Darkfall and in the end the hurt the game overall.
I would think ALL other clans would be hellbent on not allowing these bottom feeders to camp the newbs because in the end these bottom feeders are directly to blame for any population problems, negative word of mouth and a dying and stagnant playerbase which leads to less income and less improvements for the game itself.
Also....what do these guys even get out camping newbs? I can not imagine much be it gold, items...nubs have little. It shows the opposite of skill, grants you no fame to be proud of...I do not get it. Unless all they want is to grief people and ruin the game in which case THESE are the 40 year old virgins living in their single mothers basement and bearing a unhealthy resemblance of an Oedipus complex and sad addiction to hot pockets.
Anyways, sorry for the rant, truly annoys me and makes no sense. I dont mind PK, I love pvp but griefing a guild meant to help get new players into the game is just effin stupid.
I reposted on DF forums as well, really ticks me off and if the community as a whole has no interest in helping a guild get new players hooked on the game then it shows a very narrow sighted and selfish community as a whole and one I would question is worth my time.

those hacking videos are back from release where there was hacking for about a month before they stopped it. I very much doubt this guy was hacking. he was probably just good at the game and you where all noobs (no offense). there is actually probably no hacking in darkfall, its just like any game people acuse people of hacking when they are good.
but I agree the war mechanics are totally shit. but its him abusing bad game design hes not cheating or doing anything against the rules.
obviously if he was running as fast as in that second video he was hacking but I doubt he was, people just exaggerate. especially when they lose their stuff.

Just yesterday I read a very similar reply in the WOW forum. Man it's like this everywhere on the internet these days, not just in PVP ffa mmos. I don't know of many friendly and intelligent forums/online communities. They are few and far between.
There are many kind and helpful people in Darkfall that want nothing more than to ensure that some of the people trying the game out actually stay. Of course there are going to be scum bags.
Welcome to the internet. And welcome to Earth: Planet of the potentially magnificent Primates that ended up just believing in ancient fairy tales, praying to imaginary gods, and destroying and raping the very place that gave them the opportunity to exist. Don't be so naive wtf did you expect.

Those were just examples used to illustrate what happened. Those specific hacks may not be up to date or work but I am pretty sure there are others out there which do work.
Also this guy Darth Vader according to the NEW clan leaders was actually kicked from his previous clan for hacking so he does have a confirmed reputation and history for using hacks in DFO.

Wow... this is deja-vu to me. It's like early C1-C3 Lineage 2 all over again. Random a-holes who think it's fun to run new players out of a game - especially one that can really use them - entirely for their own cheap thrills. That a hacker is doing it makes it even worse.
In Lineage 2, experienced players had the same mentality originally, "It's an open PvP MMO, get used to it or don't play". However, eventually they recognized the problem it was causing: the game was becoming top-heavy since not enough new players were sticking around as the high end kept getting farther and farther along. Acknowledging the difference between people looking for PvP, and a-holes only looking for easy kills, the experienced players took matters into their own hands and went to the newbie areas to help new players out, going after the greifers. The griefers, predictably, would log out or run at the first sight of someone closer to their own level... cause that's how "hardcore" they were.
It worked, more new players were able to actually get into the game and the population got a bit of a boost.
Curious to see how it pans out in DF. I stated some time before DF launched that a scenario like this would likely play out given the open PvP nature of the game (and of course was told I didn't know what I was talking about). Now the question is, will the experienced players "look after their own" and help new players get a foothold to keep the game's population growing? Or, will they do the chest-pounding "rawr this is a hardcore PvP MMO, so leave if you can't handle it" routine, as new players are continuously run out of the game?
Will be interesting to see.

I'm in NEW, and from what I've been hearing over chat and the frequency of the clan kills, I don't see how he couldn't be hacking. I'm half way across the world so haven't seen it myself, but aside from making impossible shots consistently and his speed there's the issue of him locating people who are well hidden, and by this I mean, someone who could be completely away from where he's fighting, and then have him suddenly run straight to where they are and gank them suggesting some kind of radar hack.
Darth Vader in particular just needs to be flat out banned. If he was legit, I would say tough, we just need more protection, but it's become pretty clear it's not the case. It's bad enough there are idiots who will camp the banks in NPC towns or clans like LoD that actually siege them for fun to run noobs out of the game. Hackers are only going to make people leave and ruin the games already struggling image.
Side note: 1 man clans is a stupid thing to allow. Problem is even in games that require a certain number of people to form one, usually people just get the required number and then disband everyone but one person so they can have their little "personal title." What they would have to do is make it so that once membership gets below a certain number, the clan auto disbands, but I could see that causing problems, and also not solving it as I could also see a clan simply filled with alts to support it.
@WSImike It is like that to a point. Usually the better clans/older members will clear out the knuckleheads harassing the noob towns if for no other reason than they tend to be easy prey for anyone their size. NEW remains neutral, so unfortunately while clans have offered to help, they have to turn it down to keep from getting pulled into politics. There are some that unofficial support them from what I've gathered though. As much as I know NEW likes to keep an open door city, it may benefit everyone in the long run to close them until this hacker is delt with. But then again, he'll likely just glitch through the walls or some such anyway /=.

And I doubt that guy was hacking. It happens, but if you did a gm_report chances are he'll disappear in a day or 2

GW 1 - Xpiher Duminous
Darkfall - Xpiher Duminous (NA) retired

Last I checked, nobody was complaining about being killed because they were in NEW, they were complaining about a hacker which I think should be universally agreed upon as "bad".

As pointed out earlier in the thread, he was reported for hacking, not ganking. People come by and gank all the time and get driven off from what I hear. This little twit however is a different story.

Looks like he uses Radar - a very hard-to-detect hack. But Radar only helps to find other players and nothing more. Aimbot, on the other hand, interferes with a game code so it's much easier to detect. That's why I guess no experienced player would use it. Way too risky...
Hire bodyguards?
Maybe we need to ask Aventurine for a four man minimum (or something) if you wanna create a clan! I guess those gankers a social retards and will find it hard to find many friends ingame : )
/gm_report him
Game breaking i can say that, but im siding with the GM to not kick out or do something about the 1 guy that kept on killing you. This is all politic. Maybe ppl like him dont want to see NEW again. He is an ass hole, but DF is just like real life politic. Its not like an Arab could report to a GM to kick these american griefers from their lands.

I seriously doubt he was hacking. He was probably just very good at what he does.
In darkfall there is this thing that anoys me, if someone dies the winner is definetly a haxer, always and forever.
but what can you do
I may not be playing Darkfall, but I definitely have an interest in the game, but some of these things are really holding me back from thinking of trying it.
These 1 member clans have to stop. Even WoW has a 10 member minimum to start one up, even if its just for a bank alt. Darkfall should require similar requirements, and also a 10 member requirement being met when declaring war. If they fall below that mark, they no longer can go to war and are switched out of it. Hell, that alone should be enough to stop these dbags from doing it.
Also, maybe something similar to Eve Online's starter guild needs to be introduced. A dev-sponsored guild oriented around helping people out in the game, where players can either choose to graduate and receive a small bit of coin and some starter gear, or they can stay in it and become instructors or such. And by being dev-sponsored, the clan can not be targeted by others by declaring War on them. Little rough I know, but hell its a start.
A 10 member minimum for a guild is a good idea.
This is exactly what the NEW clan does. I think it's quite charming that this is in the hands of fellow players and not dev-sponsored.
Stopping 1 man clans from declaring war on NEW can also be player controlled. If a group of players dedicate themselves to hunting down these *criminals*. This would all add to the game. And while the criminals and the hunters bussy themselves with killing eachother, the real newbie will have an easier life.
