I don't care if it's sandbox or not, please don't make another WoW clone.

Well define WoW clone. People have some very different opinions as to what that is. BioWare is designing SWTOR with WoW in mind, not that it will be clone, but the do's and dont's of a MMO.  People will probably disagree with some of this.

Anyways, old article, still applies though.

I've known for a long time it was going to be more like WoW than SWG and that it was going to be more small group/single player centric game for a long time. But still, my personal hype has gone from a 10 to a 6 back to a 8 and now it's back under 4 with the recent news that's came out about this game.
It's Bioware, but c'mon. This game looks like it's going to be bad.... real bad. I'm still going to buy it when it launches (unless I get a closed beta), but I really don't have high hopes for it. I'm just going to buy it because it is Bioware and I still have a small bit of hope for the game being a good play, whether or not it's a real MMO or a GW/DDO instanced multiplayer game.
The first time my hype for this game dropped, was when they went on for months about it being fully voiced. I mean, that's cool and all but they were hyping that aspect of it for a long long time... which kinda raised flags. Then recently, when some new gameplay vids came out and some new information came out, I started thinking that it might actually be a good game. But, now with the new classes and how they are setup, it pretty much hits my blog dead on and I don't like that. I just want to play someone in the world, not a Jedi. Honestly, I thought they were going to throw in some new classes and not base the game off the movies. The pre-KoToR lore is pretty deep and has alot more variety to the things people have done. They could have easily hit on some of that.

OMG, you know next to nothing about the game and you're freaking out. For gods sakes, chill out. Sick to death of the moaning by certain members of the population that just doesn't stop. If you don't think you're interested in the game, then just don't play, don't go posting on their board about how much the game sucks because doing otherwise is called trolling. Thats what I do. Its called "being an adult".

That is a blunt way to put what the OP posted but it isn't wrong, in fact it is quite accurate.  Honestly the game looks amazing and almost exactly to what I have expected it to be.  With the big exception being the planet Tatooine, which I can let slide.  No it may not be the game for you, and honestly if it is between pleasing all the masses some of the time, and please a small number of people all of the time.  I think they should aim for the smaller number of people.  Not every game is for every person. Take me and EVE.  EVE is marvelous game, very well done; however its not the type of game for me, and I have tried playing it and have found myself easily bored.  That doesn't mean its a bad game, it just means it isn't the game for me, and by the sounds of it TOR might not be the game for you.

    Yes it is JUST YOU.

We have all known what kind of this game would be since day 1

I'm certainly not bummed but I am a bit hesitant that this may end up being more of a single player game than anything.  Hard to say until I really see more info though and get feedback from people that have actually played the game.  Just some things I have seen such as the companions and the level of instancing they plan on having does raise the eyebrows a bit.  Still too soon to say for sure and regardless nothing has made me disappointed...so far anyways...

    1. For god's sake mmo gamers, enough with the analogies. They're unnecessary and your comparisons are terrible, dissimilar, and illogical.

    2. To posters feeling the need to state how f2p really isn't f2p: Players understand the concept. You aren't privy to some secret the rest are missing. You're embarrassing yourself.

    3. Yes, Cpt. Obvious, we're not industry experts. Now run along and let the big people use the forums for their purpose.

  • Which is a problem because the game will be hyped beyond belief and this automatically results in immediate failure once its out as seen in Age of Conan and Darkfall, big hype, lots of people going "woah this is gonna be the best since sliced bread", lots of features that are not gonna make it in the actual game and BAM FAIL.

Are you serious guy? Darkfall? Failed because of hype? Failed at all? Did it appeal to its audience? It's a niche game nothing more. Age of Conan failed because it sucked, not because of hype. This misconception of hype with ToR is astonishing, you probably haven't a clue what ToR is. Nobody is claiming it to be the best game ever, and what 'little' features we have confirmed we have seen with visual proof.

Greed is right, BioWare never gave us a list up front of what would make it in the game and what wouldn't.. but what they have told us so far that would be in the game has been shown to be in the game.

AOC and Darkfall failed for multiple reasons.

    None of them was Hype.
