In DFO, you're in 1st person most of the time. You're only in 3rd person when harvesting, melee combat and resting (that I've seen). Just letting you know before you buy.

I appreciate you take the time warn me obout this situation, according to the videos I have seen on youtube I can see a third person perspective most of the times, can someone explain please when I get the third and when the first person perspective. I really dont want made a mistake with my $87. I think first person perspective never will be, at least in a computer game, third person in the other hands gives peripherical vision which is more accordingly to the reality.

When you have a melee weapon you have a limited 3rd person view.  When you use magic or archery, you are in FPV.  When you use a mount you have a greater third person view with the ability to rotate your view around.

And what about other activities like running, walking, harvesting, exploring, dealing, interacting with NPCs.

Harvesting is limited 3rd person view but running around and interacting with an npc with a sheathed weapon is fpv.

Another thing I would like someone who have played could answer me is next:

I am not the warrior like player who tries to fill his chest with the loot of the fallen, I want to role play a guy who harvest some raw material and goes to his house's workshop (I can have one, cant I?) and create a lot of items for different uses, later he takes his cart or burden beast and goes to another places to sell their wares hiring some soldiers to protect him of course. I come back with other goods brought from those far places to sell them in home. Later I want to open a store to sell some my created wares and I can also lend some money to other players for an interest. I want to earn reputation as a dealer and crafter, passing most of the time in my house learning the ways of magic to defend with spells my town if enemies want to take it. I want to be that guy who is known in the town for everyone, that goes to the church and always help to his neighbour, that makes small reparations and items for request.

Can this exact profile have a place on DFO? Do I need to be a warrior to earn money and glory?

Hmm, well, first of all I doubt you'd get a house very fast without being a warrior, second of all, traveling with anything in your backpack is a bad idea, even if your going to sell it, because you will get jumped and lose it all. Third of all, hiring people would be a pretty risky move considering they can just kill you for all your loot after you make money off selling things, and then the only reliable bodyguards you can get are in a clan/guild, and to get in most of the good ones they want you to fight. Plus you have to pay revenue for that house, and group of a-holes can just destroy it all in a second if you arent careful with everything. Don't qoute me on all this though, but it is probable considering the not so friendly community.

I can tolerate it, I just need to wield a weapon to get a third person view, eeeeeasy.

A lot of misconceptions in this post.

"mm, well, first of all I doubt you'd get a house very fast without being a warrior" While it is rare you can get a house deed in a chaos chest from just exploring.  Also, any mob has a random chance of dropping it.

"second of all, traveling with anything in your backpack is a bad idea" Sometimes this is necessary.  Thus the allure of the full loot game.  The thrill of victory and the agony of defeat.  Victory does not have to be about fighting.  It could be about getting from point A to point B.

"because you will get jumped and lose it all."  You might not.

"Third of all, hiring people would be a pretty risky move considering they can just kill you for all your loot after you make money off selling things,"  There are many honorable mercenary guilds that would do this.

"and then the only reliable bodyguards you can get are in a clan/guild, and to get in most of the good ones they want you to fight."  Good clans let you play how you want to play.  If the clan is not a good fit for you then leave.

Plus you have to pay revenue for that house, and group of a-holes can just destroy it all in a second if you arent careful with everything  The only thing they can destroy is the door and most games have taxes on housing so this is nothing new.

Don't qoute me on all this though, but it is probable considering the not so friendly community  Yes I am going to quote you when you say something as absurd as that.  I lot of people posting on this very site have been very helpful have they not?  Are we not members of the community?  It's been my experience that the community in this game far surpasses the community of MANY other MMO's.

So most of the time is 10-15% of your game time? Nice definition of "most"

Easy there, Turbo. Maybe you aren't in 1st person a lot, but I am. If you're using archery, magic, crafting or going from point A to B, you're in 1st person unless you have your weapon drawn.

I wasn't sure if a game like this would be for me, but I gave it a chance and MY GOD did I make the right decision. I don't think I've had this much fun in an MMO since my VERY FIRST MMO ever - Final Fantasy XI. Now, for everyone out there, the first MMO is normally the best experience you have in gaming. Its like popping your cherry, its the one you remember. Now, I don't know what it is about this game, but I didn't think it was possible to pop your cherry TWICE?!

A Short Story - My First Quest
Well, I'm having a hell of a time. Literally every step of the way is an exciting adventure. This isn't like your regular MMO where you are guided and told what to do to have fun. Oh, no... in this game every little thing is a new story.
Yes, you got a quest to go out and get rid of the goblins blocking the trading route path. Thats all fine and dandy. What the quest doesn't explain is that on your way there, you might meet an insane guy who has lost his mind and is killing everyone who comes near him, negatively affecting his standing. Yes, this is a PC not an NPC. Basically this guy is lowering his alignment just for the hell of PVP. Some people do this, most people do not. Well, you grasp your newbie sword in your hand, and realize that since he attacked you twice, you can freely attack him with no negative consequence. You manage to slay him, and it turns out that on this quest, instead of just getting the pair of pants that the questgiver was offering, you also get an awesome two handed polearm and about 300 gold. Perhaps this guy didn't believe in banking? Who knows. You complete the quest and go bank your newly found cash.

    Making Friends
As we all know, soloing in MMOs is fun. Grouping is even more fun. I managed to meet someone who was doing the same quest as me. So, we teamed up and destroyed the little goblins. It turns out some highly skilled player decided to ride in on his raptor and kill off the new guys. So, while he is distracted by some helpless newbies wandering the road, we snuck off through the bushes to a hidden goblin camp. We could now finish our quest uninterrupted. I accidentally hit him with my sword, but didn't end up killing up. Yes, thats right, this game has friendly fire.

    In Conclusion
Honestly, I have so much more to say, but not enough time to do it. If you are on the fence about getting this game, definitely bite the bullet and do it. You will not regret it.
Right now they have a deal on where you get the game and 6 months of play for $87. Its like 30% savings.
Click the link in my videos if you want to sign up, honestly its worth it. The game is just amazing.

I have some videos here if you'd like to see. They are nothing special, just me doing some quests, but it shows the game for what it is PVE-wise and not just the dressed up videos with rockin music playing.
    Gameplay and a Quick Quest
    The Brutality of Death

If you like, post some of your own stories - whether they are newb or veteran stories, I'm sure many of us are interested.

Hey I just started too and if your on NA I'd be up for some DF fun with ya.

Hahaha! Those towers don't play around. I accidentally shot down someone while trying to kill a PKer they were fighting with. The nearby tower immediately starting pounding me. I tried hiding behind a rock, but it didn't matter. I had to run out of its range and only barely made it out alive.

Basically that's the point of the game....  some people are able to pull of playing solo amidst all this chaos (you need to know a lot about the game first) but most people are in guilds just for this reason.  If you're new (first 30 days) join the guild NEW until your learn a bit about the game, then find a guild that better suits you.  NEW is a guild on both servers created for the sole purpose of helping new players learn the ways of darkfall.  It's supported by several alliances and most of the server tends to leave these guys alone.  They're not immune to pvp, but most people in darkfall want the population to grow so tend to not kill these players as much or raid their cities, so that these new players don't ragequit after their first couple hours like Ed Zitron.

I hope they manage to get this game together in say one more year of further development. I will be in then, if in the meantime they don't pull off some sort of NGE to attract more players.

You have to have lower quality animations and graphics in order to get stable 200v200 sieges; however, they have improved animations on spells, added in idle character animations, and upgrade the sound a lot this last patch. There are still issues to work out in the patch, mainly balance issues, but it was a good patch.

Note: I'm calling it a patch because most of it dealt with balancing changes. There really wasn't that much content added.

xpiher.......bulshit!! how was this just a patch, did they just patch in all the new sea fortresses and villages and the kraken? so many new things, wildlife new quests, barber shop and so much more.......why you such a troll?

OP - agreed DF is a unique game that we need to be thankful for.

If you want WoW type MMO - there are many options. And many good games, if you are looking for the gaming style that they offer. But at some point many people get fed up with the hand holding and want something else:

a huge open world filled with beautiful details flora, fauna and dangers - then Darkfall welcomes you
