A.Castoro is an established gaming businessman,he was producer of several large products including Ultima Online,SWG and many Codemasters games such as RFO and Archlord as well as many other games for other developers.
The thing that strikes me is the late release of this news. They must have acquired this product several months ago because the platform of Gods the GRIDplatform, was used to make an already done project called Platinum Life.Btw the game Platinum is also a webgame and Heatwave claims ALL their products will combine social networking/multi platforms.I don't like that idea, because it can very well mean a weaker product watered down to run on platforms like Facebook.I believe judging by their already Iphone app ISamjackson they will also produce some sort of app using this game as well.
Things to note about the game is that Heatwave imo does not have near enough skilled people to work on this game.To be fair they have stated that they want to look over the game for several months to decide on changes before moving forward. As of today they are not seeking anyone to work on this game, nothing posted in their jobs nor on Gamusutra who so happens carried an article on these guys.
What scares me the most is it is pretty much a guarantee that this game will be a F2P model, this is why they are looking over the game,i do not believe the "Modern"statement for one minute ,he released VERY aged looking games for Codemasters,so he is not about quality as per say or up to date standards. He has posted/talked about how huge the Virtual goods industry is a 1 Billion dollar industry,so i think it is a given ,they are gearing for an expensive F2P model. If they also try to push to make this game work as a WEB game as well,it will not carry any kind of quality,i hope they do not move towards that type of game.
I forgot to mention, they have the game logs of the 100k Beta testers and claim to be putting this game back into the fold.So if you were one of the original Beta testers you may be receiving some mail form Heatwave, they claim they want customer feedback as to what should stay and what should go from the beta test players.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
I think you guys made a typo in the name of the company. Heatwave Entertainment is an ADULT (Porno) company. Gods and Heroes was acquired by Heatwave Interactive.... not the same at all.

Well the original game had no crafting whatsoever. Good luck if they intend to add such a feature in. Without crafting it will not do well in the MMO market no matter how good them make it.
You really believe a majority of MMO players craft?

Maybe not, but in EVE the crafters play a vital part in the economy and though I never build anything I'm sure glad the game has the mechanic and players who enjoy doing it because it makes it a better game for everyone.
There are successful MMORPG's w/o crafting......no wait, there really isnt.

Well even with this tidbit of disappointing news :-) I'm still going to keep a eye out for news of the game. I always liked the concept, be interesting to see how it translates to an actual game.
some of the most exciting news ive heard this year. I wanted to play this game and when i heard they scraped it i sighed. Im glad that there restoring a game l just hope they can make it good anyone had bad /good experiances with this company?
I wanted to get into the beta under Perpetual. Maybe I can this time around. The game always interested me, and I was sad when they put it on indefinite hold. At least it ("indefinite hold") wasn't an absolute death sentence, like it is for most other games. Glad Heatwave picked it up!
I never managed to get into the Beta for this which upset me and even more so that it was canceled. To see it coming back has me basicly all giddy. I been wanting to play this sense I first heard about it. Thank you!!
I think that is good news! I always thought MMOs deserve another genre like Ancient times, and from what I saw it looked promising. Good to see!
Though to be honest Elikal, given what I tried when the game was in beta I don't think you will like it.
It did smack of the "get quest, kill 10 things, get another quest" type of game play.
However, the fights seemed fun and of course there was the whole having a patron god thing.
Isn't there also squad-based combat? You lead a squad of NPCs, but most challenges require dozens of players, which means (what feels like) large, epic fights with hundreds of soldiers (players and their NPC squads combined). I'm pretty sure it was Gods and Heroes, because the name was brought up during discussion of how to properly make a WAR40K MMO (squad combat would be almost mandatory, in my opinion - similar to, say, Dawn of War II).

I still have some fears regarding what Wizardry said.
There is a difference between a company seeing a game that would be a great game to pick up and develop over seeing a game that was just about done and strapping an item mall to it for a while in order to get some money while the ride lasts.

I wouldn't touch a game made by Anthony Castoro if you paid ME... Anthony Castoro aka SunSword, who is one of the people responsible for putting what I consider the final nails in Ultima Online's coffin for me. I don't dislike the guy, but he definitely has very different ideas of what makes good MMOG design than I do. Frankly the thought of it makes me vomit a little in my mouth lol...

Damn! I wish this come out when it's ready , i don't care how long it takes. I always wished for a solid/GOOD mythological MMO ! why the heck to make random fantasy crap while we got all these myths(plus mythological creatures and all) which have some point at least. I hope they don't ruin it , I'v never heard of this game before but i rly hope it goes well.
P.S I rly wish it's smth like Titan Quest but with vast open world and no instanced crap , just imagine all the sh1t that would be going on in "mythological" ancient greece! They don't rly have to make up content, just copy/paste !:P

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh (runs around in circles screaming like a little girl)
I also was in beta. Though I didn't like the whole "mobs in a field waiting to be killed" thing, I loved that you had a patron god.
Essentially I want to get my "300" on.
