Awesome!!! I wanted to play this badly a few years ago and was bummed it got scrapped. Perpetual made a huge oops doing STO as well since that games garbage.
Also heres my impression of a convo with a WOW clone hater
Wowclonehater says" This game looks stupid, its just a WOW clone, all the classes are copies of WOW classes and the game plays exactly the same as WOW. weaksauce."
Guywholikesgame says, " oh i see why someone wouldnt like that! So what game do you play or what is your favorite MMO of all time?"
Wowclonehater says. "well my favorite MMO of all time is WOW. I really like the classes and the gameplay. Ive been playing it for 6 years now!"
Guywholikesgame says, " umm so you wont play this other game because you think its a ripoff of WOW because it basically plays the exact same way but with slight variations."
Wowclonehater says, "yeah id hate this game it looks super lame"!
I honestly hold no excitement (and little hope) for the news of Gods and Hereos being reborn. Having particpated in the Alpha (and early Beta) testing of Gods and Heroes I can only wonder why a company would want to revitalize this game. It was a blatant copy and paste job of World of Warcraft. The skill trees and talents were word-for-word copied from WoW skill tress and talents...resulting in character classes that were straight up copies of WoW classes.
Well, here come the WoW clone comments, as far as I am concerned, every MMO out there should be considered a clone of the first MMO: Meridian 59.
I don't see where I said G&H was a WoW Clone above. I said it was a blatant copy and paste job of WoW. The developers didn't even bother rewording skill descriptions. It was like they literally copy/pasted parts of the game and was too lazy to even pretend they didn't. There were plenty others on the Alpha boards that pointed this out besides myself.
And why stop at Meridian 59...let's say all fantasy MMOs are clones of Chainmail/D&D.
My guess is this, just like what is happening to Allods will happen to this IP possibly. Theyll take it and use a skeleton crew to fix a few things, introduce a Cash Shop and fuddle a lot of the mechanics to revolve around the CS, then set it out there for any Publisher to license while hosting it themselves. In turn they will try to make theyre money back in the shortest amount of time by having outrageous CS prices, and mechanics which will force you to buy from the expensive CS. Im not saying this WILL happen, but this is looking like the scenario that could possibly play out like Allods.
in short, a possibility that a great title will be forced to work the streets while the pimp gets mad paid! "Wheres my money MMHO!"

Yeah, Ping Pong was a clone of WoW too.
Wait a minute.. Wasn't WoW a copy of Everquest and Dark of of Camelot with a little touch of Ultima Online? Nah, it couldn't be true. WoW is the most original game ever! Everyone copies it, even games developed 10 years before it was released!
So cool to see this one get another chance...Hopefully this time we'll get to see it Officially Launch...I REALLY liked this Game despite all the problems (and there were a few no question)...Thought it had awesome potential though...Not saying it will ever get awesome Sub numbers...But the Game has a REAL good feel overall and I liked the Minion system a lot...

Well, heck, if that's the case sign me up!
I didn't get too far before it was shut down to really explore the skill trees but as I would be more prone to play in a fantasy realm of Rome than Azeroth I"m sold.
If only they could be as polished as wow.
Like Skyrim? Need more content? Try my Skyrim mod "Godfred's Tomb."

World of Lordcraft is a blatant copy. Perhaps those names were, I don't know, placeholders?
Not sure if it has been mentioned or not but just to bring it to light a little info I found on their website(Heatwave Interactive Inc.)
Located in Austin, TX, Heatwave™ Interactive, Inc. was founded in early 2007 by games industry wunderkind Anthony Castoro (EA, Sony Online, Entertainment, Codemasters) and entrepreneurial maverick Donn Clendenon (MPG-Net, World Gaming Corporation, I-Sun Networks). Staffed by a core team of top-flight game, music and movie industry veterans, Heatwave™ Interactive, Inc. seeks to fundamentally revolutionize the entertainment landscape by creating innovative cross-media properties for gaming, film, music and television.
The credited works of the team's members include over 200 commercial video, PC and tabletop games, as well as Academy Award-winning films and Grammy Award-winning albums. Supporting the Central Studio is a Board of Advisors including Jason Bell, CEO of Chrysalis Games, formerly of Turbine, Atari, EA, and Kesmai; Ann E. Kronen, formerly of Atari, Humongous Entertainment, Disney, Phillips, and Broderbund Software; and Charles J. Weber, CEO of Weber Communications, formerly CEO of LucasFilm Ltd.
May not be the best lineup in the world but it's a little more experience than I had initially thought.
“With this acquisition Heatwave greatly expands its core development capabilities as well as adding a well-known, award-winning title to its expanding intellectual property portfolio. This game hits the Heatwave ‘HIP’ mark in terms of its social gaming features and the intrinsic entertainment value found in its mythological storyline, high action adventure and beautiful art style. ”
While I am somewhat happy to read G&H may resurrect, Can someone tell me how a game that was never released can be considered "award winning"? Don't you have to actually be released before you start getting awards?
Most anticipated awards don't really count, at least for the game. Perhaps the marketing company might deserve it.
Excellent news! I was just thinking about this game the other day. I thought that the mmo world had missed out on its promised innovative approach to minions / npc pets or what ever name they go by. I will be keeping tabs on this for sure.
I was following this game rather closely when it went under and was very disappointed to see it scrapped. I am holding back my excitement for the moment though. If i find out it's going to be P2P then i'll start getting excited. If it's going to be F2P then i'll just stay disappointed.
I'll be keeping an eye on this one, I remember beta testing this for Perpetual. I hated seeing it go, and with the recent influx of greek mythology hitting the mainstream hopefully this game will gather steam.
Interesting. Hope they take their time and polish it. Mythology is fucking awesome, so i hope this game turns out good, so tired of the fantasy crap and elfs. blah.
Funny, I was just lamenting the shutdown of this title the other day. I was in the beta for this and the game really was pretty good. The performance, however, was horrible. Being beta, that was to be expected. It was a big shock when it was announced that Perpetual was going down the tubes and taking Gods & Heroes with it. Heatwave has bought a game that wasn't far from release, so I'd expect to be seeing some definite timeframes in the near future. Good luck to the folks at Heatwave.
Its funny I was just thinking about Gods and Heroes the other day too. I was really disappointed when it got cancelled. I am glad to see that it is back on track and look forward to the release.
I dont find anything exciting about this news. A canceled game that is being revived, which was buggy as hell in beta, lag-fest, and absolutely no merchandising, harvesting, crafting or player-influenced or encouraged economy?
Maybe in 2007 when this was scrapped it might have been considered something new and fresh, well....maybe not, but with the progression of mmorpg staples today, this will be a lacluster title unless they have some immense accomplishments up their sleves.

Then dont play it. Im sure the game will do fine without your QQing.
And the forums will be spared your flame posts like this.
I can understand why people flame and QQ about a game thats already out but it was announced its back from the dead a few hours ago and idiots like you are already saying dumbsh!t like this.
I guess that's the advantage from starting at the bottom. Still it would be interesting to see if the new company can do something with that dead title.
Thanks so much for this report! I was in the beta and had my own fan/guild site up and running. Looks like it might be time to go back and register the name again? *excitement*

Never even heard of this game before today, but it looks good signed up for this newsletter too!

Haha fucking alright. I was looking at Gods and Heroes less than a month ago hoping they would return to it.

I am so glad that GnH might finally see the light of day!
I was also in the closed beta, and was most annoyed when it all went down, I really felt GnH had potential.
I will roll a Nomad once again someday!

Nice, this is good news. Beta was great (obviously there were bugs but nothing SO MAJOR). Look forward to see where this one goes.

This proves pretty much anything can happen in the mmorpg genre . I would'nt be supprised to see Tabula Rasa return on day .

YES YES YES! The premise of this game hooked me, glad to see it get life back
