From what I have gathered, SV is conducting illegal business practices and they will be sued soon because they are going to be charging people monthly that they never signed up for.

Well at least I can claim there is some justification to my paranoia on reoccurring billing.  After a satellite radio manged to renew for 3yrs on a credit card with a expired date I tend to avoid putting in a credit card for anything that can say I agreed to some auto rebill.

I think everyone has seen those credit card offers and  checks that if you cash sign you up for stuff.  They depend on people being stupid enough to not read the fine print.  In this case I guess the big question is was the fine print ever disclosed.

Although it costs more money i tend to use gamecards for game time  if possible and prepaid credit cards with only the amount of money you put in them.

I am sure you can charge back the credit card but if they fight it you will never be able to prove you clicked some stupid cancel button or sent email.  I am glad  I didn't preorder this I would be calling my credit card company to cancel the card and reissue with a different number.

I guess I will have to be content to wait and see if SV can get over another pothole in their quest to deliver  a game that sound so interesting

I really dislike SV and their "practices" but I also like to keep things clear.  I did per-order the game and have checked my account.  I believe the 30 days will start at a time of SV's choosing without the control of the player.  My account was set to auto-renew by default without any warning from SV, because at some point previous I gave them my billing info and monthly sub choice.  I logged into my account and turned auto-renew off and that's the end of it.  I will get my 30 days free time and it will not renew.  Any charges appearing on my account would be refused by the bank.

They can do it if you used a credit card, they can't do it if you bought it via paypal.  Paypal has their own subscription billing, that you must accept.  SV can't just take money out of your paypal account.

I think I have solved what is actually going on with SV billing and its as comical and yet sad.  The reason why things are the way they are is because, they have not added any form of long term billing tools as yet, SV have stated they arnt adding the billing system till just before or apon them going gold.

So they thought in their infinite wisdom and experience just to migrate all of the pre-order stuff striaght into billing when they go gold, DUH thats not going to bite them in the ass at all.

Or on the bright side they may stuff that up and no one gets billed, its kinda 50/50 which way that little penny is going to fall.

Moral of this story is, if you run Hospital you hire doctors, if you get more sick people, you hire more doctors, if you want to specialise, you hire doctors for those fields.     I would use programmers instead of the word doctor, but I didnt what to be to obvious huh.

I still like the game gawd dammit, just hire people who know WTF they are doing, it aint rocket science.

PS they said also once game goes gold there will be a cancel sub button....it will be cunningly hidden behind a rabbit on the log in screen, a bit like where's Wally....last part is a joke, there will be a button, dont want to add to any tin foil hat stories, unless there is no button, then go for your lives.

Just back from Disney..(great place.. everyone should visit at least once!).  I scanned the MO forums for a clarification but I didn;t see one?  I KNOW they were specifically asked to provide a clarification.  Did I miss it?  Or is it still looking like they are auto-subscribing anyone who pre-ordered?  Even those who never chose a subscription...
