Just wanted to post this link to a video review of the Mortal Online loot bag.  $118 worth of nothing it seems...

At least his action figures hands were still attached.

For me, the book is the most epic, and hilarious failure. They actually sent people a collector's edition book with over 50% blank pages lol

Those are for "notes" like the oldschool game manuals in the 8-bit era, or maybe you are supposed to finish the concept art yourself. Game be that hardcore boyeee!

  • What am I supposed to do with a poster and some figures? Why should I pay almost double for that stuff? image

Oh like everquest?! I found my old "quest log" a couple months ago in a box in a closet.

Wow that full loot "box" is amazing.  Im also quite impressed by the vision of the team that put this together.  Who would have thought to include a sandbox book with a sandbox game?!  Mind blowing!

Now we have empirical proof that this will be an epic failure of monumental proportions. LoL at those figurines! 108$ for this... and the full version of the game has yet to be announced! Hurray for humanity!

Well someone who knew they had no interest in the poster or figures wouldn't pay for the stuff. Simple enough answer.

holy hell .. that may just be the absolute worst ripoff ever ... please tell me its an april fools joke .. or the guy secretly took the real stuff out of the package .. i mean it was open when he started the review ..

on a plus note the guy was amazingly calm for just getting ripped off of over a hundred bucks .. I'd be upset .. and from the look of that freaking giant i'd not want him to upset with me lol ..

They better hope that guy remains calm or never finds out where they live  lol

    wow sandbox book lol

why should you by "Limited edition" of any game period? I mean usually stuff that goes into LE costs maybe 5 US dollars and yet you have to pay much more.....for what?

I never buy LE's for anything because of this.

ROFL wanted to try to be funny and make a joke "Atleast the books does just contain white pages"....seems they already made that joke :P

The guy does look somewhat angry though  ;)

My stomach was hurting by the time he got to "sandbox bag"!

That review was totally awesome.  From the crappy 'figures' to the DVD box with 2 slots, but 1 DVD.  Priceless!

Hahaha that was amazing. I completely lost it at the "sandbox book."  Only thing I didn't entirely agree with was that he expected full on action figures when they mentioned they were going to be pewter ones, but I guess if you're not familiar with how pewter figures usually are you might think you were getting something else. That bag was amazingly terrible though. How much you want to bet all that blank space in the book was reserved for the game lore that never got finished (seriously, how do you still not have racial backgrounds on half your races at this stage?) . I felt instant regret upon getting the tin case with no manual or pretty much anything else for $70 as it was. Can't imagine how the loot bag guys feel. I would care considerably less about it though if the game didn't turn out to be a trainwreck. Last time I invest in an indie MMO.

The disappointment he's expressing in that video is palpable.

No April fools prank here, I have the same thing sitting on the shelf next to me right now, but my crappy figures came broken.

those are even Reaper figurines .. just taken straight from the bin of crappy ass dungeons and dragons figurines I bet .. their figurines suck anyway .. nice choice of companies ..

For some who likes to paint miniatures, those figures are worth $10-$20 (the decent level of detail is the key).  But this requires some experience and a good paint set, so for most gamers the figurines are quite crappy.

Cryptic is trying a Customer Development approach to MMO creation.

I just dusted off my Guild Wars (original) collector's edition box. It came with an art book the same size as the box, pretty thick, a game manual with lots of lore, a cd with the game's soundtrack, and it gave my characters a glowing effect when they danced. And it was cheaper than this thing. And it was 4 years ago (more or less).

I mean, cmon. How hard is it to print a full book? Dont they have enough concept art? Is there no lore? I mean, lack of npcs and quests is one thing, but being a sandbox doesnt mean your game is just an engine you can run around in. No background on races? No famous people in the MO's world?

Bah, I got my sleeve dirty with dust from the GW's box...

Classis.  They sent us a sandbox book. lol classic.  Oh, yea, and a sandbox dvd that you cant even install the game with.

Very unfortunate and what's even more unfortunate is SV ever being considered an indie studio; how disrespectful to real indie studios.
