In all seriousness, I think the above sums it up pretty well for a lot of people. Personally I've never seen my avatar as an extension of myself: They don't look like me, act like me and I assure you they don't fight like me - which would make them, uh, not so competitive against dragons! :)

It is not so much that your avatar is an extension of yourself but rather that you should identify with him/her. Be it movies or games, the creator of such games want the audience to identify, on some level, with a character. That is why you so rarely see a movie with only bad guys because not so many people will want to identify themselves with one.

So I would say that men who plays a female character identifies themselves, on some level, with a women.

Which is of course totally impossible as men & women are totally different species with nothing in common whatsoever.

2*. Should you choose to play the opposite sex, you are agreeing to having “homosexual” or “lesbian” before your name.

    3. Class system should again be linked to what you do in real life. Want to be a healer? Hope you’re a doctor. Want to be a warrior? Hope you’re in the army.

    4. Crafting of course should also follow the rule above. Only people that work in construction, tanneries, cloth factories etc  should be able to be crafters.

Yes, all mmos should be like this, so people can no longer lie to me about who and what they are in real life! What better way to identify yourself with your character?

    Yes.

And I also vote for putting all people who play thieves in a fantasy game into jail.

That will make the world so much safer !!!

I play roughly half female, half male characters. I am an over 40 heterosexual male.

Like many others, i play female avatars because they look better than their male counterparts. As an example, in many games male elves just flat out look like they are batting for the other team. If i am going to look effeminate, i might as well BE effeminate.

That and i'd rather stare at pretty female pixals over male pixals :P

Back in eq1 on the Eci server WAY back in the day, i had a macro set up that i would shout out to everyone in the zone a dedication of Shania Twain's "man, i feel like a woman" song to all the cross dressers and it would result in lots of laughs.

Seriously though, the only ones that kinda sorta creep me out are the men who dress female toons and let their group mates know they are female in hopes of garnering special treatment.

I don't exactly agree, but then again that sort of identification can only be a good thing in my opinion. :)

like one poster(or more said) I play male avatars because they look better then males and I really decided to play male only when i played for the first time AO: do you ever played a male Opifex Avatar in AO? they way that the male move their ass is just disturbing.

Well, I'm a guy that finds other guys attractive and I play male toons in game.  What does that say?  I have no issues with guys playing female toons.  The majority of my toons are males, unless the character models are just right out ugly.  Example, LOTRO Elves.  They look feminine and that is not attractive to me.  If I'm going to play an elf in LOTRo then it will be a female elf.

I support people playing whatever characters they like. I'm not going to think less of any individual based on the fact that they play a different race or gender in a video game. Anyone who judges others based on this, has some personal issues they need to talk to someone about, in my opinion.

Well besides the fact that it's been since pointed out that a real life large breasted woman likes making her in game female characters large breasted since she identifies with that, there's also the contradiction in your own writing I don't think you really thought about.

I always play male characters because my characters are an extention of myself, or at least some 'idealized' part of my personality, that's also why I have difficulty playing 'evil' characters. If I were to go all Robbie Wheeling I wouldn't want to be dressing up in frilly skirts and leather bustiers while hacking up innocent people in the subway.

EDIT: +1 RP cred for understanding the Robbie Wheeling reference.

One of my favorite characters I made was a gay male side-kick in City of Heroes that constantly was searching for a Hero. I have been straight my whole life. But I did identify with him since I think discrimination is something most people can relate to.

I got a few laughs out of how homophobic so many people were and I played him in a very light comical totally PG13 manner and I'm pretty sure in a way that was respectful to LGBTQ folks (as I was allied with a gay super group). I think his name was simply Fabulous SideKick, I deleted him when I ran out of server slots.

No worries, and thanks, I could see where such an experience would be relevant to such a question. I had no knowledge that was the reasoning behind it, so I apologize as well.

Yep, that is what I am saying :)

Imo people who likes to watch movies with female heroines are probably more likely to have female avatars. There really is no good or bad about it, I personally identify myself much more with male heroes than female ones but that's me.

However when you as a male use your female avatar to get "favours" that is what disturbs me.

Bah, silly gender stereotypes :p  I usually put the boob sliders somewhere around the middle, artfully taking into account relative proportions to the rest of the body, while my girlfriend always just puts the boob slider all the way up, waist slider all the way down, etc.

Wasn't intended to be a biased or stereotypical comment.  It's only what I have personally experienced.  Of COURSE there are exceptions as with anything on Earth...lol.

I would guess though....that if your GF makes the boobs huge...she doesn't HAVE huge boobs in RL.  I do....and that is WHY I never burden my characters with them.  I don't want my toons getting the kind of backache that I do!  (No...I don't think my characters REALLY get backaches....but I like to imagine them as "real" little creatures that COULD. lol)

Since I dont roleplay then yeah it would.

But then again I would never cyber with a female character unless I knew there was a chick behind the character.

Okay....there is obviously a differing opinion between people as to what constitutes HUGE boobs.  DD cup size is not HUGE, imo.  When I say "huge"....I'm referring to imbalanced looking people and characters that look like they should fall over face first from the size of them....LITERALLY watermelon sized boobs, imo, are huge.  DD is just healthy and attractive looking. I can actually still squeeze myself into a DD cup, although I probably should get one size bigger....I refuse to because I am MORTIFIED that I would possibly need to.  But let's not discuss that here....this conversation could get embarrassing rather quickly.  As long as I'm not getting those "puffy bulges" around my bra from squishing my boobs into it.....I refuse to go up to an E or EE cup. Oh REALLY?  So you're saying that's always true?  LOL  It's not. You go on to criticize ME below for speaking for all women, but it's okay if some other woman does?  I wear a 38 DD....that's large, but not MASSIVE, and I don't make my characters with big boobs. What contradiction?  I still don't see it.  Perhaps you just don't understand what I'm saying or didn't actually READ it.

Where did I say GUYS find huge boobs unattractive???  I find them unattractive.  I never said GUYS did. When I said WE, I meant women....and you find me ONE WOMAN that thinks WATERMELON sized boobs....are attractive. Oh I'm sure there's one somewhere. But that would be a rarity, I imagine. I'm literally saying the size of watermelons. IMO....and probably in the opinion of a good MANY women....that just looks gross, not attractive.

Go on with your conversation boys (and the few TOKEN women that are in here).  I'm done with it.  Seems I can't voice my opinion and it be considered an opinion automatically.  Forums are essentially mini-editorial comments, although some of mine aren't that "mini" I'll admit.  Any time someone writes a forum comment....it's probably best to just assume they ARE voicing an opinion and not stating FACTS.
