No wonder crappy MMO's keep being made time after another...

If 1700 people are so gullible that they fall for this, other companies must be getting huge profits..

After the way the company screwed most of the people who originally pre-ordered the game does this really surprise anyone?

I agree to an extent, as I feel MO is pretty bad as is. However that doesn't exactly mean everyone feels that way about it. It's really about what someone is looking for in a game.

I've wanted a decent sandbox MMO since galaxies was destroyed long ago. To this day there still hasn't been one to release. As a result I play other games now, and actually enjoy them. Even though they aren't exactly what I'm looking for. At this point I don't know if there will ever be a game made that fits into what I prefer.

I guess you could say I've taken the safe route (find something as a replacement). Others want one so badly they're willing to play something a lot of people find "crappy". Now if they feel the game they're playing is crappy, your point is spot on for such a person. If they do not, it's way off, as they enjoy it. Which has nothing to do with being gullible (unless the defintion has changed). I could go on and on, I don't want to bore anyone so I'll leave it at that.

With no support from the community these companies (indie) wither and die, it's as simple as that.

And you of course are allowed your own opinion.  MY opinion is the exact opposite.  Supporting companies that try to shovel half-complete and partially functional products out the door is what hurts the industry as a whole.  It just causes an endless parade of unequipped (or greedy) companies to publish junkware with the promise to fix (complete, update, refine, move beyond "basic" everything) it at some point after launch.

Indie companies don't wither and die..  bad ones do. Whether they are indie or the flagship studio of a publisher.

No it wasn't.  It's down now.. it wasn't down last night.  Here is the official desync thread.  Unless you think all the posters were just mistaken and they weren't really playing...

They are already in the US at Epic and have already moved the game over to the new version of Unreal Engine and Atlas.  The CEO announced that the game is in teh final release phase and after short test phase will be launched.  They just published the long awaited April Release build.  If you are interested in the game you should definately check it out and see for yourself.

Yea the last time I checked was a week or so ago. At that point they had not made it over here to the U.S. because of the volcano in Iceland delaying all the european flights. I've just been too busy with work to keep up on things, so thanks for the 411. I gotta go check out the MO forums now lol.

I pre but not until block E, and I haven't touched the game in over a month because there is no point to it right now. Everything is going to get wiped so I don't want to build up a lot in beta.

Too many people have been burned on launch hype in recent years. The MO community has made this clear to Starvault, and they are well aware if they releas the game with its current issues it would flop. I just hope they can get over here to America to get working on it soon, cuz I bought the damn thing quite a few months ago and I want to start enjoying it.

Why do you say "last minute overhauling" when the game has been laggy and getting crazy desync since block A?  Open beta has been lagging out for months now, and they are just NOW starting to try and fix it?  Are you kidding me?

    Questions for the fans:

    1) How many times do they have to screw up for the fans to start asking questions?  image

    2) How long will you guys just ignore how bad a disaster this game is?  image

If you payed any attentioin to their forums you would know that they were using an older build of the engine. They tweaked it out as best they could but the desync issues were still there. They made the decision to send some of their devs over here to the U.S. to update the game to the newest build of the Unreal 3 engine and Atlas. It looks like they have the new build and are starting to test, mainly melee combat and desync for now. http://www.mortalonline.com/forums/41688-patch-0-14-23-32-going-live.html

As for you question 1 for the fans, us fans have been very vocal on the forums for several months about the issues with the game. Starvault has tried patches and set up poles for us to respond to. The poles clearly showed most people still had problems. The fans constanly asking question and giving feedback, and Starvaults communication with the players is what led to Starvaults decision to overhaul the engine, and send a team to the U.S. for first hand assistance with Epic.

As for your 2nd question. It's beta. Your going to have problems. Granted the problems have been big, but as long as the game is in beta and not released, you have no right to say it is bad, and I have no right to say it is good. It's beta.

If they release the game in a sorry condition than by all means tell me you told me so.

I played the beta for about a week.  IMHO, if they can fix the overall performance of this game, I  think they'll really have something on their hands and I would more than gladly buy and sub.  As far as the whole pre/order fiasco...  never preorder an mmo.... ever.  Personal STO experience to learn that lesson...  Anyway, just my 2 cents on this game and I would very much like to see it succeed.

Well, I signed up for the Beta, downloaded client, updated DirectX.... and then the servers are down. Ah well. So I went into the game's forums and laughed at all the whining.

I absolutely refuse to buy an MMO that is in beta mode for this very reason. Being in beta gives them excuses as to why the game is in full suck mode and continue to delay features that were promised upon release. This means they are making money just like they would if the game was released while still developing it.

thats cool its your choice. i dont see how slap and hanz cant make the same choice. We wouldnt have to put up with them if they did

What are you talking about? I didnt pay a dime for MO, was a gift. (ie no one else wanted it)  Im tired of hacks like SV  dragging the MMO industry further down.  People grow more and more leery, one day there might be a studio with some talent.  But, by then people will be too jaded to give them a chance.  Its called trying to inform people so they can make a educated decision on MO. Why do you think I pushed people to try the Beta time and time again? MO speaks for itself.

How do you know what other people were experiencing?image  Are you now claiming they fixed the desync issue?

Lag...desync...bad fairy dust,....does it really matter? The game is worse than it was before the upgrade.  Sure they might fix it, they might not.  If the game is in this state with most features turned off, they have a long way to go.  Which hopefully means they'll extend the "beta".

I'm just in shock that 1700 copies were actually sold.  That guy must have lots of relatives.

Perhaps you did not experience any desync because of your great connection to the server.  i fyou actually read the desync thread though, you would see that there are tons of folks who are not only experiencing desync, but are experiencing it even worse than a month ago.
