Everyone has the right to "hate", or rather have his/her personal taste. If you say you don't like SWTOR that's fine with me.
What is NOT fine with me is, why do we have to make new "SWTOR sucks" thread every other day? Like THIS thread. What purpose does it serve to repeat the same over and over. You don't like it. Ok. No problemo. Just leave it behind then.

The jury's out for me. I have a bad feeling about the game and ther are some aspect I'm not thrilled about such as the companions and the apparent push for a large amount of cc. However, it is Bioware and I do enjoy their games for the most part so we'll see.
Might be better I'm not climbing the walls in anticipation for the title anyways. I'll be the first to admit that at times I may have gone into a game with exepctations being too high so maybe being more ho hum about the whole affair might lead to me being really impressed and surprised with the game when it finally releases.
1. For god's sake mmo gamers, enough with the analogies. They're unnecessary and your comparisons are terrible, dissimilar, and illogical.

How can you make up such a solid opinion about a game you haven't even played? All you have to go on is someone else's word who probably didn't get enough time to really play the game. Videos and screenshots rarely show more than what the marketing department wants you to see. Besides, the game has a long time before it will be released, or even in a state of beta where it can be evaluated for face value.
Nothing at all... it must have been us (the Haters) who missed the "Not Final Build Gameplay Footage You Are Not Allowed To Have Negative Opinions" sign on all gameplay footage and interviews. Must have been in really fine print... sorry just ignore us.
Ok leaving out the sarcasm, I don't understand having a negative opinion of something that isn't finished? It would be like saying a novel is going to suck based solely on the first draft not being polished.
Sure if there are gameplay elements that are core to the design, then yea you could easily say this game isn't for me. But do we really know enough to say how the game is going to be? I, for one, don't like the look of the "cover" system for the smuggler, the little green men look stupid, but I will wait to see how it looks in the final stages before I decide if it's a big deal.
I havent expected much out of it and so far I am not disapointed. I look forward to trying it as I have every other major mmo to come out in the past 6 or so years. Call me lucky ...I have beta tested , stress tested every game worth mentioning , some way , some how. So, Ill get my chance ..If I like it, Ill get it. Until then I guess I can amuse myself with the haters adn fanboy posts.
To be honest, I was hoping for an action based game like Jedi Knight with an x-wing / tie-fighter style space combat thrown in.
Ok ok, maybe I set the bar a little too high but one can only hope in the future.

Thing is it's much more complex than writing a novel, especially considering the number of people involved in its creation rathe rthan just 1 person writing a novel. Id they change 1 little detail or mechanic it can throw many other things out of whack an dthey will need to redo all of those things as well. It would be more like having a rough draftaof a novel, and then having to rewrite half of it because you made a change to wethe ror not 1 particular character live dor died, or something like that. They may make a few minor changes to things in the coming months, but nothing that changes the core concepts / features they have announced already. We dont need a finished product to decide wether or not we like certain aspects of it such as the art design, the idea of companions, our "ships" essentially just being houses that move on rails instead of being used for combat and exploration essentially removing the Star from Star Wars, or any numbe rof other feature stheyeve given info on. Its true we may not have 100% of the info, but you dont need that to know that 1 particular feature or several simply does not appeal to you. If anchovies make you gag, you dont need to try a whole anchovie pizza to know you dont like them, the fact that it has anchovies on it is enough to know you wont enjoy it.
Looks good to me..I'm not sure what people who are disappointed were expecting. None of us can really form a solid opinion on it without having some hands on time with it.
I will reserve judgment for open beta and launch next year. But I am liking the info listed on the updated link from the main site. It sounds like they will be putting in a lot of good stuff. But until I get my hands on it. I won't be dissappinted or estatic about the game. I will just try to keep my-self informed as info comes out.

This is actually one of the first games in recent years that I've been psyched before pre-launch where it's basically looks around where I expect it to be and I have no thoughts in my head convincing me it's going to be 10x better than the gameplay vids are showing.
So no, I'm not disappointed. I'm fine with how it's turning out so far, though I'm expecting it'll be tweaked a good bit before launch and possibly made a tad more exciting.
Honestly, though, all I've ever really been interested in when it comes to this game is the dialogue sequences and the supposed consequences of your choices, and being able to play another Star Wars MMO, and I'm not hyping the game up too much in my head while waiting for it, so hopefully the folks at BioWare surprise me.

Nice one you state you are perfectly happy with the game and then go on to hint that it needs tweaking to more exciting? I'm assuming you are happy playing dull games then. As for consequences for your actions ingame, this is the biggest lie Bioware is selling. Jedi can't preform evil actions without turning to the dark side and after that they are no longer a jedi SO unless you can change factions your actions are meaningless. I mean, would you really care if Jaja'Yo on planet Sutet doesn't like you because you said he was ugly? Meaningless.
I am always disappointed with a type of game I like before it's relea...lol god that sounds so stupid.
How can I be disappointed with a game that I haven't played or seen all that much of?
"Bioware has just annouced that SW:TOR is fully instanced with every player having his/her own instance of the world. Players can join other instances by grouping together in the LFG, friends list, or guilds panel. Also, all pvp will be restricted to 5v5 warzones which you can join at any time."
News like that wouldn't disappoint you? The crap developers say before launch has a lot to do with the success or failure of their project.

Actually, they said switching faction will not be in at launch. But they may add it in as an update later. So the dark/light at the beginning of the game will be more about what skills you can or can't use. Not your faction. As they add more story to each class, you will probably be able to switch sides. But that would probably be a tough life once you switch. Would be cool though.

Haven't been paying that close attention to the game much lately due to losing interest... but did they seriously say it wont be in at launch but might be in later? Hmmm where have i heard those claims before... i could swear it was another company being run by EA... and they surely added in everything they promised....
I am always disappointed with a type of game I like before it's relea...lol god that sounds so stupid.

In the context of this thread, no. In the context of a game that I am looking forward to very much, I could be. More then likely Post Release. Since I don't let you or someone else decide my feelings towards a game, I tend to decide if I will really enjoy a game after I get as much information about it as I can.
If a company makes a decision about a game I am interested in, let's say, to change TOR to a sandbox; I may not want a sandbox, but I would not suddenly post in every thread I could find about this travesty. I would listen to information posted about the game, and see if I wanted to try it out come release. Even if I came to not want the game, I would not be going out of my way, standing on a soapbox, screaming that my opinion is right, and you should agree with me :P.
As to this game, there are things that would be cool if changed a little bit, some things that look very awesome, and some things that are questionable. I guess we shall all find out. At this point, I want to try this game and see how it is.
I care about BW, not EA when it comes to the design of the game and what there plans are. I expect a good game next year at launch because it is BW. I willbe much better than anything launched in the last couple years. That doesn't say much because of the crap MMO's we have seen launched. But it will be better IMO. If you want more info try this link. http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=33345
Sorry, I am on my phone so I can't link it correctly or format this correctly. But there it is anyway.

One of the primary reasons the OP is dissapointed with the game is that the voice acting is in British? And you're British......really?
Everyone knows that evil doers speak with English accents, clones speak with Kiwi accents and those guys that got killed as part of the trade embargo on Naboo had some dodgy Nelson Mandela thing going on!:) The introduction of accents into the SW genre has been ongoing for a while now. Sure it's a bit cheesy, but deep down a little part of me is glad that Star Wars is one of the few entertainment mediums that acknowledge that not all bipeds capable of speach in any possible sci-fi future will have been educated in the USA.
So we're not stoked that there's voice acting, we're moaning that it isn't in the right dialect? I'm afraid I've got to disagree with you here.
Having said that, SWTOR isn't exactly blowing my socks off, but it looks like a solid effort. The character models and style seem similar to KOTOR, which I assume is intentional.
The ships/ housing seems a very good touch. I wasn't expecting something like this at launch, so am happy it is there. I don't think we will have space combat in at launch either, but it seems they've laid a solid base to move into that area.
I'm pleasantly suprised that the trooper seems to have little touches like that sticky grenade which might actually make it fun to play.
Verdict?
Negatives:
Why don't they release it now? Do they need another year, or are they just avoiding the Cataclysm and GW2 launches? Visually I don't think it's going to amaze me. There doesn't seem anything amazing in the gameplay that's going to truly suprise me. I don't know anything about the crafting, grouping, guilding or any other non-combat content, but I am not expecting anything ground-breaking. Would be very suprised to see space combat in at launch.
Positives:
Great IP. Will definitely have my imagination captured for a couple of months. Player housing in at launch. Story. Speach. Branching dialogue. (If it's like other Bioware games is the concept of alignment being considered/included)? If they can refine the KOTOR experience they will be making a good experience better.

I am disappointed with the game's art direction and feel that it may eventually wear on me, and I'm not sure how the quest dialogue is going to keep from getting stale (ala voice acting in EQ2), but otherwise, it's easily my most anticipated MMORPG since Vanguard.

Are you KIDDING?
Take a look at the MMO market -- it friggin SUCKS. Do you know how absolutely TERRIBLE it could be compared to what it is???
It's not my IDEAL Star Wars MMORPG, but it's getting pretty close to it.
BOYCOTTING EA / ORIGIN going forward.

I am disappointed with SWTOR because Bioware didn't design the game engine and instead contracted some bleh Heroes Journey engine.
I also HATE the disney like kiddie cartoony graphics. YUK!
Shame on you Bioware!
