Disappointed? Already? Why?  Do you say "I'm so unhappy with this one movie that's still in production and has only released small snippets".

Man, you haven't even gone on the first date!  Don't break up with her already! lol

Bloody hell people, wait until the game is released before judging it. I am skeptical about it too but will reserve judgement until its out.

Seems a bit silly to be starting this as of yet. Wait until release then moan and complain. You're doing it wrong, but the webnets can be tricky.

You would have thought the Twi'lek Smuggler would have a different model design but instead she looks like they have just altered the female Human design and made her green with head tails. And the dialogue, it's terrible, I was really expecting better but I think I'll pass on this game.

So who else here feels disappointed with the game?

Yes I am dissapointed , I have been playing it for near on 2 months now and it is such a dissapointment.

OH WAIT.. the game doesn't release until 2011

Lets put this mail on hold, and when the game releases maybe we can all reply.

    • I tried my best to feel dissapointment but then realised the game is not released until 2011

    • I tried my best to feel dissapointment but then thought of Bioware and how they have never failed to deliver for me.

    • I tried my best to feel dissapointed but then realised one of the greatest IPs ever, Is being dragged up by it's feet with all it's history another developed timeline added. Ohh all that lovely Star Wars IP content and history. Can't be bad

    • I tried to feel dissapointed but then realised the proffesionalismn Bioware show and the content they have released without me even paying a penny

    • You know why am I trying to feel dissapointed, I think Bioware are doing a fantastic job.

Yes I tried my best but can see no reason to be anything other than Happy wioth the progress of SWTOR.

Impatience is the only answer I can come up with. The hate for new games used to be held in check until open beta at least. This new breed of hater has evolvled somewhat it seems.

WOW isnt great because it has 12 million players. WOW has 12 million players because its great.

The funny thing is that these "haters" aren't actually new to MMO's.  They often enjoy in reminding others that they are so-called "vets", which is ironic because they should therefore know better than to try to predict the future of a product that still has some time to go until Beta.

But instead of remaining objective and level headed, they generalise and make assumptions to try to sound all-knowledgable and superior to those who don't necessarily agree with their perspective and opinions.  Often labelling others who don't agree as "fanbois", which in itself is ironic because both fanbois and haters share similar characteristics. To such individuals who share these extreme viewpoints, you're either a "hater" or a "fanboi", there is no middle ground, regardless of the reality of the situation.

In that sense, the term "evolved" is quite apt considering that such assumptions are being made by people who aren't new to MMO's but have nevertheless evolved a particular perspective.  However one could argue that "devolved" could be considered more accurate and appropriate.   image

Haven't played it yet so I have no way of feeling disappointed with TOR yet.

Now ask me a month after launch and I can tell you then.

There are 3 types of people in the world.
1.) Those who make things happen
2.) Those who watch things happen
3.) And those who wonder "What the %#*& just happened?!"

I've watched, read and heard things that I have liked.

I've watched, read and heard things I didn't.

Putting it all together there's simply not enough to tell me what to expect. I'll take the safe route and say no I'm not disappointed at this point. However, I'm not exactly in awe either, I guess you could say I'm neutral.

Best way to be right now to be honest.  You don't HAVE to be a fanboi, or a hater at this moment.  Just be an objective, rational and level headed observer of the facts.

I am with you on this. I will reserve judgement.  WIth more than 10 month of development still to go I really can't say. What I do know is that there is enough good in it right now for me to remain interested in following it and unless something dramatic happens to change my current view I will give it a go.

    Wow.

22 pages of chatter over disapointment in a game that has not been released.  I am not sure if this is the downfall of this sight or the lolz.

Can we get over the hype and gripe?  Has anyone read the Darth Hater review of this from E3?  I thought they had a fairly decent review from 4 or 5 players who tried it out.

Say hello, To the things you've left behind. They are more a part of your life now that you can't touch them.

    Mostly par for the course.

I'm sure a psychological case study of the high volume posters around here would probably reveal a penchant for narcissistic micromanagers.  Ever try to tell a control freak to sit by and be patient while someone else creates something for them?  Well... this is pretty much what you get lol.

Bear in mind that not every post in all 22 pages is showing disappointment.  In a lot of cases, its the opposite or a neutral standing.

I am disappointed with some of the things I have read about the game.  However, I will reserve my real disappointment or enjoyment of the title for when I am actually able to read player reviews  and try it out for myself.

    Nothing to be disappointed about.

haven't played the game and i'm not going to judge the game based off early combat footage. Everything will have some sort of change by 2011 (spring).

Being disappointed about a game this far away from launch means you need a girlfriend.

The more details are released, the more the wishful thinking of the "perfect game" will be shattered.  People have different and mutually exclusive ideas of what this mythical perfect game is, so of course people will be disappointed.  Look at all the SWG rejects whining about it not being SWG2,  the trinity, the class/level level system...whatever.

I've seen some things that disappoint me, but overall Bioware has never let me down on producing a good game, and so far I haven't seen anything to make me not try this game when it comes out.

I can agree with this.  The game itself looks really good, from what little I've seen.  The community on the other hand.. the official SWTOR forums and the WoW forums are on about the same level.

The only promising thing this game has is story, and story does not = MMORPG. This will be a good singleplayer game with a chatroom slapped on but not much more.

  • PigozzPigozz Member UncommonPosts: 886

    I dont know..

-I love BWs stories and the replayability factor in this game seems to be very strong = players will be subbed for longer time

-..as well as me, Im very altaholic so this is the strongest point for me

-on the other hand the gpx just boils my blood ... this is not something I would expect from 2011 game (I know theyre hitting for broad scale of players, but damn its SW, its BW, HC players have strong PCs and casual players are mostly adults with budget big enough to afford themselves a very strong PC..so I really dont get BWs philosphy), oh and look at all high end single player games and their sellings (such as both ME, CoDs, AC I and II, Halo 3...)all those game sold averagely 5 millions of copies..I know I know most come from consoles but still...

-another plus is I loved both Kotors

-minus is that Im gonna pay monthly fees for kotor 3

-since they are building on WoW succes I can assume the endgame to be similar like WoWs ...and grind aint for me

    -Im praying for good crafting

    - and last point ...MAKE THE COMBAT FLUID .... I dont really care(because the time I played Kotor I had around 17fps so Im used to it lol) I just dont understand it .. ME was extremely fluid why cant this be..

I mentioned more minuses than pluses but since the pluses are more major I really dont know

Oh I one thing I really hate about these forums are those ignorants who tell me not to judge a game I didnt played yet...cmon guys are you really that dumb to not even try to make an assumption?? do you need to be taken by hand every moment in your life??? You dont go to restaurant and taste all the specials and then decide...

I think I actually spent way more time reading and theorycrafting about MMOs than playing them

Yeah, the graphics are my biggest issue too that I have with the game.

Though I like how it shows here in this ingame pic:

    SW:ToR combat scene

(anybody knows how to include pics in your post? Doesnt seem to be working the way I tried it)

The ACTUAL size of MMORPG worlds: a comparison list between MMO's

The ease with which predictions are made on these forums:
Fratman: "I'm saying Spring 2012 at the earliest [for TOR release]. Anyone still clinging to 2011 is deluding themself at this point."

Well I just saw one leaked viedo and the game actually looks better than devs vids (probably the same issue as vith AoC lol)

and the combat is kinda fluid but not very entertaining I must say (the char was a low lvl tho..)
