When Starcraft came out in the mid-late 90s, I was a big fan.  But now in 2010, I've drifted quite a bit away from traditional RTS games.  I don't see anything with SC2 to make me want to change my mind.  Looks like Starcraft with purdier graphics (sort of, IMO).

As for Diablo 3, I was a big fan also with Diablo 1 & 2.  Curious to see where Diablo 3 goes and to see if Blizzard actually makes Diablo 3 less buggy in release than Diablo 2 was.  Diablo 2 was insanely buggy when it came out.

Considering you need a reaction time off over 9000! to be even mildly good at StarCraft..... I think I'll be passing on this one.

I'll be getting it purely for custom maps. I cannot play RTS games at all without getting overwhelmed by the amount of stuff going on, and having to micro manage.

You don't need a constant internet connection with steam you can just set to offline mode and you can play just fine offline.

Now Ubisoft has lost their mind with their system, tho... I won't touch any of their games that use it.

    Anyway I've had SC2 pre-order for a while now... can't wait.

I'm not intending to, at least before they sell the game with all its expansions together. I just prefer SC1, it's the micro and multitask hell that Starcraft is known for, without that it's pretty bland game. SC1 has also gone through a lot more balancing and the units are more fun and diverse at this point. I also prefer the graphics of SC1, 3D is not good when it comes to strategy and management games.  SC2 also lacks the dark atmosphere of  SC1. No reason for me to buy, as I don't care for the story.

E: Forgot to mention, that there's all these Facebook and achievement features, that I really, really don't care for, gives be bad vibes and flashbacks of WoW. Lastly, Bobby Kotick.

    No. Ill keep playing Supcom.

I kinda don't want to buy it after all the real ID hoopla and Blizzard kinda sucking these days and Zerg being a little unbalanced but I'm going to.  image

  • RomanjisanRomanjisan Member Posts: 53

I have absolutely zero interest in buying it.  Why?  The RealiD fiasco is the the real reason (pun intended).  The RealID is irrelevant, unneeded, and redundant.  There are already a ton of messeneger and chat services out there: Windows Live Messenger, Yahoo Messenger, Google Talk, AIM Messenger, ICQ, Skype, IRC, Ventrilo, TeamSpeak, etc.  The other reason is that I'm not a "herd" player, I don't like rushing into buying stuff just because of media hype.  I was not impressed with the first Starcraft and the new one, while the graphics look gorgeous, is not going to be any different than the first one.

Not me, I shall be staying clear of it. It's easy to see SC2 was developed for e-sports and has been refined with Korean hardcore gamer input, anything gaming refined with the input of Korean gamers mounts to games that's not for me! I want to play them for fun, not make them my life and be over serious about them like the Korean gamers are. Also Blizz real ID BS will make me stay away from anything else new from Blizz.

It's also easy to see you know nothing of SC2's multiplayer system.. I have explained it else where in this thread, IGN explains it a little better than me here http://uk.pc.ign.com/articles/110/1108252p1.html.  In short you wont be playing the pro's unless you are a pro yourself, if your a newb then you'll be playing newbs etc.

As to realID... topic has been done to death but its 100% optional as it always has been. It's like saying you wont go on the internet cus of facebook.. well you don't need a facebook account to go on the internet just as you dont need a to use REALID so play blizzard games.

I wont. Its Starcraft 1 only a little modified. And you also have to buy the game 3 times to really get it. This is the true blizzard of these days.

Look Shill, Starcraft 2 isn't offering anything really better than the original but slightly "purdier" graphics.  They would've been fine with such a minor "upgrade" if it was 1999 or 2000 (SC came out '98), and this version they got now would've been no problem.  But this is 2010.  And from anything I've read about it, it sounds like it should've been an expansion pack instead.

26-30 missions for one faction on a campaign?

Add to the fact that Blizzard already has stuff in place for the subsequent Protoss & Zerg campaigns to come out SEPERATELY to milk even more money out of you.

Sorry man, I'm not paying money for a pared down expansion pack that should've come out 10 years ago.  This is not the same Blizzard I loyally followed from Warcraft 2, Diablo, Starcraft, and Diablo 2.

I'll never touch a Blizzard product ever again.

Tossed my old Kidcraft CDs, but I might just keep my Diablo 2/Starcraft CDs as momentos and a reminder as to what they used to be and how utter shit they've become.

Regardless, Diablo was their only unique and GOOD product.  The rest were cheap copies.

I seriously dont get the ignorance surrousing the realid feature..

This new feature is super awsome now you can talk to all your friends who play whatever blizz game (I have several irl friends who still play wow) regardless of server or what game they are on.

You dont have to give any1 your real id if you dont want to.  If you dont actualy have any real friends then dont use this feature its not enforced its bonus and personaly I really like it as some of my mmo buddies wont be coming to sc2 with me.

The using real ID in forums was a good idea taken from the chinesse where anything and everything you do the internet has your ID attached to it, much liek real life you are truly held acountable for what you say and do on the internet which leads to less stupidity.  North america shot thss concept down pretty hard cause there more people who wat to be annonomis so this isnt coming out just the cool friend feature which is optional and very cool if you have friends cross game or cross servers.

wetiher you love blizzard or hate blizzard or dont care either way if you enjoy RTS or are looking for a new game to try SC2 will exceed your expectations.  I just changed my pre-order to a s tore with a midnight release and got a plan in place to meet up with few buddies smoke a few grab some coffee and hit the line I cant wait.

your post is dripping with ignorance.   sc2 is by no means a minor upgrade to sc1 you can go watch a few sc1 and sc2 videos you will clearly see the difference and not just graphicaly.  There single player campaign will probaly take you 50+ hours to complete which is as much if not more than most games you buy for single player and then your done with the game but sc2 multiplayer will go on forever.  2 expansion packs each with there own 50 hours of single player and new units for multiplayer this is a bad thing for you?  OMG a year later I am going to have to spend $60 on an expac for a game I havent even been paying monthly subsciptions for that will drasticaly improve the game oh noes I wanted to buy 1 game for 10 dollars and play it for the rest of my life how dare you charge me money.

  • ZarcobZarcob Member Posts: 207

Loved the first one, but I kind of enjoyed the direction games like Warhammer 40k took for strategy; moving away from resource gathering and focusing more on tactical movement.  I don't think I'll buy it, or if I do, it will be several months to a year later when it's pretty cheap rather than the hefty 60$ tag right now.  Which is rather normal for me, I only bought ME a few months ago when it went on sale, and I'm not trying to blast them for the price itself.  I think it's a perfectly valid price, it just might not float very well in this economy.

I will say the trailer for the game was breath-takingly awesome.  If there's one thing I always felt Blizzard did well it was cinematic cutscenes and I may end up buying it at some point just to watch them.

     I'll bite.. nom nom nom.

So you would prefer a rushedshallow story told with 10 missions per race? then some half-asses expansion released in the future?  Blizzard don't work like that.  We'll be getting a crafted 30 mission story driven campaign with an hour of CGI, no doubt the game will end on a cliff hanger and leave us wanting more... as all good games should.

I would fully understand views like yours if we were getting just 10 missions and a quick story, but we're not.

You make it sound like blizzard put this game together over a long weekend its been years in the making, they spent $100,000,000 on it.. its goona be somthing special.. shame you'll miss out.

I agree with everything you said except blizz dint spend 100 mil that was a false stament put out by washington post blizzard says they have no plans to reveal the cost to make sc2 I bet its far above 100 mil but when you consider blizz's income from wow per month they could drop 1 bil on the game give it to everyone for free and still laugh all the way to the bank :P

I'll be getting SC2.. just at a later time (when they release the SC2 Battlechest ...1 or 2 years later). Not much of an RTS guy, more into mmorpgs you know.

I might get it later, it seems ok. I won't get Diablo 3 however if what I seen and heard about it is what it will be like, a cute Diablo is heresy.
