BioWare has just announced the newest downloadable content for Dragon Age. Called The Golems of Amgarrak, the new content takes place in the Deep Roads as players assist a dwarf named Jenrik in his search for his brother Brogan. MMORPG.com's Garrett Fuller had the chance to sit down with BioWare's Ferret Baudoin and Rob Bartel to talk about The Golems of Amgarrak.
Give us some background on the new DLC – Golems of Amgarrak.
ROB: Golems of Amgarrak is the next installment of downloadable content (DLC) for our hit dark fantasy title, Dragon Age: Origins. It will be releasing simultaneously for $5 on the Playstation Network and for 400 points on the PC and in the X360 Marketplace. Designed with our hardcore players in mind, it sends the player on an extremely challenging journey into the Deep Roads to uncover the lost secrets of the dwarves.

Not an MMO, yet...newsworthy? Really?
Yeah, you're right, covering one of the most popular RPGs released in recent memory probably isn't worth mentioning here, even if Dragon Age WAS a genre defining title and even if the company that made it has a major MMO in the works. I don't know why anyone would be interested in this.
We don't list the game, we just occasionally and rarely write about it. Simmer down.

Also, as DLC, and Biowares last few DLC for this game, will it be more than a 2 hour romp for the money?

Wonderful game...I am glad to hear of more DLC!
I like Dragon Age but again ,NOT a MMO.
So what? Its an extrememly popular game made by a company with a huge MMO in the works. So..... yeah.
They've been doing that and it gets annoying lol. That time could have been spent doing interviews and writing up an article on an MMO. Having 3 news pieces on the front page talking about non MMO's gets aggravating, if I wanted info on SC, Dragon Age, or 38 Studios PC RPG (The non MMO) I can check any number of other sites or even simply look in my email lol. If MMORPG.com wants to focus on non MMO's there becomes less of a reason for me to stop by this site lol.
And yeah, I understand Stradden. But seriously there are news articles about 3 non MMO's on the front. 3 out of 8 on your little highlight reel lol. 2 are discussing random crud that most people already know such as why MMO's take so long and people already have their opinions about whats so good and bad about hardcore. Which leaves you with 3 relevant pieces lol.
3 actual MMO News related articles. GW2, Tera and SW:TOR. There are plenty of MMO's that could have been reviewed and plenty of interviews that could have been done. There are actually changes and upcoming changes that could have been talked about.
Unless your wallets hurting there's no reason to pump out non mmo news, interviews, reviews and such that bumps, replaces or comes at the cost of some MMO related piece.
You guys actually really got me disappointed with the 38 Studious: Reckoning piece. I was all hyped until it turned out to be just an RPG for the PC and not an MMO. Yet, there is almost no info about the MMO lol. Bring us news on the Offline PC RPG and still leave us high and dry on the MMO. Seems off doesn't it lol.
Geez you guys! It is ONE article amongst many that are put up on this page. People will get upset over the stupidest things.
I guess I will go complain at a dealership that also sells motorcycles along with cars. I came to see cars... not motorcycles. Geez.. what are they thinking?
Apparently people refuse to see that part.
Is this game an mmorpg?? If it is im sorry for asking..but if its not then WTF IS IT DOING HERE??
Thanks for reply.
ok, wow.
First of all, the Starcraft featurette very clearly states that it's pointing to an article on our sister site, another site in this network, for which it is relevant. Next, if you can't see the point of talking about the 38 Studios RPG in the context of the fact that it is set in the same world as their MMO, thus giving us a deeper understanding of what the MMO is about, I can't help you. We didn't CHOOSE not to talk more about the MMO. That information simply isn't available at this time, so we present what we have.
As for the editorials... We've been doing those for a long time. They're very popular and very relevant. We're not going to stop producing them. If you don't like them, don't read them. We also have plenty of game specific articles, they just aren't necessarily in the featurette slider. Try checking out the rest of the page before telling us that you have all of the answers.
So no, it doesn't seem "off" to me, nor to the tens of thousands of people who read the articles that you've decided shouldn't be here. Though I have to say that I really do appreciate your insights into how to do a job that I've been doing for quite some time now. It's always good to hear from someone more knowledgeable and with more experience.

As I said they are 3 on the front page at the moment. SC2, Dragon Age and 38 Studios RPG.
This isn't like going to the car dealership thats selling motorcycles. Bad analogy.
This is like flipping on your local news and seeing 25 minutes filled with news from another state that has nothing to do with you, 10 minutes of fluff pieces that have little relevance and 25 minutes of news that actually concerns you. So in total that hour you spent watching the news you only received about 25 minutes worth of news.
less and less reasons for me to keep coming back here. It doesn't matter if the damn game is popular or the developer is making an mmo. It's not news about the mmo. The game isn't even online. Guess I must have mistaken what MMORPG meant.
As the grayghost said, you could have used that space and time for actual mmo news and features instead of trying to expand into something that every other gaming site already does.

If you can't beat 'em, hold 'em off 'till you come up with a better plan.
Seriously though people, quit acting like the end of the world is coming. MMORPG.com posts soo many articles on MMOs, these couple of articles on RTS games and non MMOs is not really an issue. Read the article, if you dont like Dragon Age, then dont even click on the link, go about your merry day and read the other articles on this site.
No need to get your panties in a bunch over such a MINOR ISSUE, if it even is an issue.
I for one liked the article and the interview, kudos.
Sheesh, I think you all need to get out more... no wonder online communities are going to shit!
Maybe the analogy wasnt all that great. Ok.. maybe it was pretty cheesy. Anyway, this is a pretty piddly thing to get all worked up about. MMORPG still makes lots of articles about MMO's, and things about MMO's. Getting mad at something like this is pretty sad.
The news analogy dosent work either. There is TONS of worthless crap on the news all the time that dosen't necessarily affect of have to do with anyone, much less the one that tuned in to watch the news.
Nah, not really mad. More or less I was simply prompted to reply when I saw Stradens reply elocke. I felt a need to explain why some may not view this in the best light. Hopefully you do realize that people can have a discussion and disagree with something without being mad. This truly would be a silly thing to get emotional about.
And yes, the news analogy fits.
Ok man, whatever lol. I dont really need to comment further anyway. You already got owned by stradden in this thread anyway. Good day sir!
To Stradden, thank you for the article. I love the game and appreciate news on it. Even if its not an MMO lol.
G`day mates ...
Just wanted too toss in my 2 cents ...
Sorry guys, but GreyGhost is right ... i come to this site to read up on MMORPG ... NOT SINGLE PLAYER GAMES..( i dont care how good it was either)
Their are a ton of sites for single player games ..
Guess im going to have to find another site that actually focus on MMORPG`s ..
Too bad... cheers guys
I'm not too bothered about having 1 or 2 articles not directly related to mmo's, but Stradden doesn't exactly have a good attitude when responding to posts no need to get so offended, very un-professional.
I don't know how genre defining it was considering their basically trashing DA and making ME 2 with swords and magic for DA 2. In order to a define a genre, you would actually have to stick with your own design and others do something similar to what you put out as well.
parrotpholk-Because we all know the miracle patch fairy shows up the night before release and sprinkles magic dust on the server to make it allllll better.
Unfortunately Stradden did kind of set the tone to be pretty harsh here. I understand it can get frustrating to have similar replies to these kind of articles all the time. The fact that we see this non-mmo complaint all the time should, at the very least, just create an expectation we'll see non-mmo complaints all the time, so it's nothing to get excited about from the other side either.

Must say i'm pretty sick of seeing DLC for this game.. I bought Awakening even though it's storyline should have been in the original game to begin with.. (this same DLC trend for all games is getting on my nerves) and that was it, won't be getting anymore of my money until DA2!
Ok, I didn't mean for a crapstorm of negativity to form around my teenie little comment, it's just that. Besides the fact that I found Dragon Age abysmally boring, the fact that the news about 38 Studios moving to Rhode Island hasn't been posted but this little news item about a single player RPG, that is only popular because it seems "they" have stopped making them like they used to, quality and quantity wise, is where my SMALL complaint stems from.
That's all. Lets just focus more on MMOs. I get Game Informer or Gamespot articles for non MMO games. I prefer this site over theirs as MMORPGS are the BEST type of game out there, for me personally.
