why you guys are complaining about a silly thing like this, and not complaining about the way they make dragon age to milky more money, they did sell the game with at least 3 DLC done just for us to buy (and I will not pay for then), if they want to sell expansions later? fine but at least make it worth, not this silly money grab thing,

the sad part is people will pay for that...(even sad to fight over a silly thing like a news just because its not a mmo)

FOR HONOR, FOR FREEDOM.... and for some money.

They've been doing that and it gets annoying lol. That time could have been spent doing interviews and writing up an article on an MMO. Having 3 news pieces on the front page talking about non MMO's gets aggravating, if I wanted info on SC, Dragon Age, or 38 Studios PC RPG (The non MMO) I can check any number of other sites or even simply look in my email lol. If MMORPG.com wants to focus on non MMO's there becomes less of a reason for me to stop by this site lol.

And yeah, I understand Stradden. But seriously there are news articles about 3 non MMO's on the front. 3 out of 8 on your little highlight reel lol. 2 are discussing random crud that most people already know such as why MMO's take so long and people already have their opinions about whats so good and bad about hardcore. Which leaves you with 3 relevant pieces lol.

3 actual MMO News related articles. GW2, Tera and SW:TOR. There are plenty of MMO's that could have been reviewed and plenty of interviews that could have been done. There are actually changes and upcoming changes that could have been talked about.

Unless your wallets hurting there's no reason to pump out non mmo news, interviews, reviews and such that bumps, replaces or comes at the cost of some MMO related piece.

You guys actually really got me disappointed with the 38 Studious: Reckoning piece. I was all hyped until it turned out to be just an RPG for the PC and not an MMO. Yet, there is almost no info about the MMO lol. Bring us news on the Offline PC RPG and still leave us high and dry on the MMO. Seems off doesn't it lol.

    ok, wow.
First of all, the Starcraft featurette very clearly states that it's pointing to an article on our sister site, another site in this network, for which it is relevant. Next, if you can't see the point of talking about the 38 Studios RPG in the context of the fact that it is set in the same world as their MMO, thus giving us a deeper understanding of what the MMO is about, I can't help you. We didn't CHOOSE not to talk more about the MMO. That information simply isn't available at this time, so we present what we have.
As for the editorials... We've been doing those for a long time. They're very popular and very relevant. We're not going to stop producing them. If you don't like them, don't read them. We also have plenty of game specific articles, they just aren't necessarily in the featurette slider. Try checking out the rest of the page before telling us that you have all of the answers.
So no, it doesn't seem "off" to me, nor to the tens of thousands of people who read the articles that you've decided shouldn't be here. Though I have to say that I really do appreciate your insights into how to do a job that I've been doing for quite some time now. It's always good to hear from someone more knowledgeable and with more experience.

Now that's just a bit antagonistic. You are assuming you know the poster's job or work history. I understand you are miffed, but good negative criticism from some members is not a HORRIBLE thing, nor personal.

Their are a ton of sites for single player games ..

Guess im going to have to find another site that actually focus on MMORPG`s ..

    Too bad... cheers guys

Don't let the doorknob hit ya....well you get the drift. If a few articles bother you that much then quite honestly there is no where that will please you because you have too narrow of a thought process. I'm sorry, but for anyone who lets little articles like this bother them to the extent that they will abandon a site then they simply can never be fully pleased. And in truth there is no way 'everyone' will be pleased with everything done. A majority of folks do not care about these articles being posted here and many appreciate them as well.

And guys really need to get off the 'They should be covering mmorpg news!' Umm...they do. Do you think there is news on the noteworthy mmorpg's every freaking second of every second day. One person brought up the fact a mmo company moved to Rhode Island....who gives a f***! How the heck is that important and worth reading? Do you guys want to know that Bill in the game designing department stubbed his toe on his desk making him miss out on two minutes of work too? Sheesh people...freaking relax *laughs*

  • ZhauricZhauric Member UncommonPosts: 292

And by the way Straden...I like your response and it was needed because some of these guys are a bit ridiculous in what gets their panties in a bunch. Thanks for the article and the expanded coverage. Nicely done.

  • ravareravare Member UncommonPosts: 58

If people seriously want to leave the site or stop reading mmorpg.com because of articles like this, then let them. Its not different from a child stomping their feet when they dont get what they want and then threatening "im gonna run away!".

My brother tried, that, moms and pops packed a bag for him and told him get to steppin.

Despite enjoying the game, I must agree. DA was pretty much the same mechanics as NWN/2, just more refined to make it console friendly :)

Tens of thousands? Hyperbole is cool for those 'heat'em up' political sites, but for journalism it always seems a bit off.

Haha, I know what you mean.

She had one of the more interesting endings, and it really led you to believe it wasn't going to end there. Even an endgame dialog choice is something like "Q:so what are you going to do now?" "A:I'm going to go find Morrigan" /roll credits.

I want to know what happened to my darkspawn love child damnit! xD That would be one DLC pack i'd actually consider buying now.

Yes, actually, tens of thousands. No hyperbole. Many of the articles being criticized receive tens of thousands of views.

Just rename the site to something that fits, and everyone will be happy.

Studio 38 article not a problem we need as much background and lore as we can get on the Copernicus MMO. Dragon Age fantastic has earned its right to be discussed and so many of us here played it due to the current lack of good MMOs again no problems.

Some people hee are looking pretty foolish teh response to this article is childish very childish.

OK. Let's focus back on the actual content of the article. As Jon explained above, we do post articles and media that are either 1) from our sister site Game on Mac or 2) not MMOs but are still relevant to MMO gamers from time to time. This thread isn't for discussing the legitimacy of this practice. We certainly appreciate your feedback, but like it or not, these articles and media are here to stay. They are both popular and relevant, and that's all there is to be said about it.

If you'd like to discuss the matter further, you can feel free to create a new thread in our Site Suggestions forum, and I'll be sure to review it for feedback, but as far as this thread goes, let's please move on to discussing the substance of the interview. We aren't going to have every strictly non-MMO article we post be dominated with discussion about the practice itself. Continued back and forth regarding the legitimacy of such articles within this thread will be considered off-topic posting and moderators will issue infractions accordingly.

    Thanks!

Fine, let's stay on topic of the grossly over-rated ( although not as over-rated as the Mass Effect game ) singleplayer RPG known as Dragon Age: Origins.

I'd personally like to thank Bioware for continuing to give us all free DLC.

Dragon Age is hardly genre defining, if it were, the sequal wouldn't become a Mass Effect clone. Last genre defining thing Bioware has done was the dialog wheel with Mass Effect, and all it did was dumbing the dialog system down. Go figure.

Dragon Age was a good game. Nothing special, just an old school cRPG, even then, it did felt dumbed down when compared to NWN2. Its all about streamlining these days.

As for the article, well, game itself might be newsworthy as it is a sisten genre to mmoRPGs. Don't know about the DLC's though.

I'd have to say that I am halfway pleased with their downloadable content.

For my taste it never seems to go quite far enough.

For instance, Awakenings had some great stuff but some of the side quests seemed over much too quickly. Almost as if they were throw aways.

They just seem to be over a bit too quickly.

I would prefer more exanasions like Awakening, just a bit more thought put into the side quests and stories.
