I'd have to say that I am halfway pleased with their downloadable content.
For my taste it never seems to go quite far enough.
For instance, Awakenings had some great stuff but some of the side quests seemed over much too quickly. Almost as if they were throw aways.
They just seem to be over a bit too quickly.
I would prefer more exanasions like Awakening, just a bit more thought put into the side quests and stories.
Yeah, but for free, who can complain?

Are you serious? MMORPG.com is ranked in the top 10,000 of all internet sites. They no doubt get a couple million unique hits per month. You think 10s of 1000s of views is hyberbole?
/laff
And tens of thousands out of millions would be what? Oh, that's right. A minority.
Just rename the site to something that fits, and everyone will be happy.
Interesting idea. Hows about MAINLY-MMORPG.com?
Personally I don't get what all the fuss is about. If people are going to demand that the staff post articles only on MMOs then I think it would be fair for the web site to hold viewers posts to the same rules. Say goodbye to the off topic and pub forums. Say hello to mods removing any post they don't feel to be 100% MMO related.
There ya go. Just move all "News" about non-mmo games to Off Topic. See, there's already a section for this stuff, and the staff aren't using it. What an example they're providing for us impressionable forum users.
Edit: Now stay on topic. They'll hit us with the banhammer if we continue to discuss this.

Way to busy to play it yet, but when I get the game of the year addition at the end of the year, with all the extras free and loads of mods to download it will be awesome.
I personally liked having the article available. While its not an MMO its a RPG, a very good one at that. ....Anyways please dont complain about it, if you dont like it, dont click it.
I should also add that while I own the game and all the available DLC and expansion, I wasn't overly impressed that the latest DLC is to revisit Golems....AGAIN.
Why so much hate over DA:O? BioWare is a solid RPG developer that does have an MMORPG in the works and that MMO's mechanics are largely based on several of the developer's single-player RPGs including both DA:O and Mass Effect.
Personally, I own DA:O and Mass Effect and play them both and am also an avid MMO gamer. Is there not enough going on in other forums today that it's necessary to flame this article, or is everyone so upset over the attention StarCraft II (also a product developed and published by a company with their hat in the MMO market) that there's some need to senselessly tear people's heads off over...nothing? If what you see offends you...don't look.

Maybe MMO is not your genre, go play Modern Warfare...or something you can be all twitchy...and rank up all night. This is seriously getting tired. -Ranyr

Oh I think there is plenty of head tearing off from BOTH sides of the issue here, whether or not MMORPG should have as many articles as they do.
As for DA:O, I like it. I liked Mass effect 2 too. I don't like their DLC; it's over-priced, doesn't continue the story and just backtracks to cover matieral mentioned briefly in more depth. I prefer to move forward, not back, and that's why i like expansion packs, not DLC. And what difference does it make if you like DA: O or not when they're pretty much abandoning what they did with DA to clone ME2 and slap fantasy paint on it?
parrotpholk-Because we all know the miracle patch fairy shows up the night before release and sprinkles magic dust on the server to make it allllll better.
Yeah the non-MMO articles here used to irritate me too, but that's just the way that it goes. This site has been going into a more general direction for awhile now and it's their website, so they'll do what they want to do.
I imagine that the stagnant nature of the MMO genre and the over-all negative atmosphere here surrounding said genre definitely has not encouraged them to remain focused on MMOs.
Um this whole story line sounds like the Paragon line with Branka when you went into Orzirmar in the first story. We found out how the golems were made then... So how is this going to be any different?
This site is primarily devoted to MMOs. That doesn't mean they can NEVER write an article about a non-MMO. It is amazing how easily some people get worked up over nothing. I'm pretty sure the people who make the site determine what they cover and not a few people who fly into a nerd rage at the smallest thing they don't agree with.
That being said, I really liked the interview. In addition to MMOs my friends and I also play Dragon Age and the article was extremely interesting. I bought Dragon Age on day 1 with the DLC that was available at the time, which was only Warden's Keep and The Stone Prisoner. Later on Return to Ostagar came out and I got that as well. Since then the DLCs have been piling up and it looks like it is time for me to dust off one of my favorite games and take another run at it.
The only thing that I haven't been a fan of is the limited play time of most DLCs. They cost between $5 to $7 and generally only last an hour or 2. I played the main game in about 60 hours for about $50, which means I was paying about $.83 per hour of play time, which puts an equivalent DLC cost at about $.83 to $1.66. The DLCs are always interesting, it's just I wish they lasted longer for the money.

I have to say, non mmo pieces wouldn't be that annoying if the quality of the rest of the mmo articles was consistently good. Lately it seems like half of the articles are very poorly written, without a lot of thought put into them, or just plain have no useful information at all. Combine that with a slew (this isn't the only one) of non-mmo articles at once, and it just looks bad. This article is pretty good for what it is, I just would prefer to see more, better written articles on the site's core subject.
For MMO news you really can't beat massively.com, period. This site has degenerated to second hand news and opinion pieces, both flooded with corporate driven hype and obnoxiously sized ad space. If a number of viewers respond critically to content, it may be time for a little introspective analysis, rather than becoming childishly defensive of the material.
Aparently it's the sign of the times. SciFi channel closing serials because they are too SciFi few years ago, now MMORPG covering single player games instead of MMORPG...
Yeah, you're right, covering one of the most popular RPGs released in recent memory probably isn't worth mentioning here, even if Dragon Age WAS a genre defining title and even if the company that made it has a major MMO in the works. I don't know why anyone would be interested in this.
We don't list the game, we just occasionally and rarely write about it. Simmer down.
Oh how terribly terribly wrong you are.
The game is shite, its not genre defining, its not original.. and most importantly, it's not multiplayer!
dont worry though, I havnt read a word of it so you cant reply with "well if you dont like it dont read it" I just came to figure out why your now posting articles about a single player game. I mean, the REAL answer! Not the rubbish you've just managed to pick from between your toes this morning.
I'm sorry people but I am a gamer. I play games. Seeing info about a non mmo game doesn't get my panties in a bunch like some of you. I don't understand why it does. Because you "come here to read about MMOs"...So what's stopping you from doing that? Did the search button break? Did the forums go down for ONLY MMOs but stay up for other games? Did the game list explode?
People complain about stuff just to complain. They complain about things because they think they are making some sort of point that will show them off in some better light (without thinking about actually doing it like that), or just to be jerks.
You are not suddenly hampered if you ONLY wish to learn about MMOs because of stories about other games.
I really enjoy it when Stradden comes on here every few months and rips into the community. No, seriously, I do enjoy it!!!
As far as the DLC content goes I don't think the game warrents it. Sure I enjoyed the game but I don't think it was/is as ground breaking as some people do. But then again I don't care for Farmville and I know millions of people love that so...meh. <shrug>
I would have put bann hammers to some of these trolls :-/ long ago.
Its nothing new that the page mmorpg.com isnt purely making news about MMOs. For me its old beef. There for i dont understand the reactions of the "emos", how the mods shouldnt post news about other important games.
Dont like the news post? Ignore it. Works well for me.
For me MMORGP.COM is gaming site with focus on MMOs, but that doesnt meant they post only and only about MMOs.
Heh, tough crowd. But yeah, first thing I thought was why is this here? I hated Dragon Age, and now i have to see news about it where it doesnt belong. The write could have done an article on Earthrise instead, which we never hear about. Hell, write 10 articles a day on SWTOR. Itll never get old.

Thanks for the news and article.
I like coming here because it isn't all about MMO only day in day out, but mixes it up a bit occasionally.
Besides, although the main focus is definitly on MMO, and that's great, the RPG bit is there for these sorts of bits now and again.
Or maybe that's just me.
I should also add that while I own the game and all the available DLC and expansion, I wasn't overly impressed that the latest DLC is to revisit Golems....AGAIN.

Please continue to keep us informed about any updates or news about DA:O and anything from Studio 38..I am REALLY looking forward to Copernicus
To all the people whining like petulant children that this type of news " isn't applicable to MMORPG" I have an idea ?
Why don't you start your own MMO website where you can enforce your own myopic views and leave the articles alone that many of us actually enjoy ?
