I don't see the hilarious part...I guess I don't quite have the level of stupidity required...rofl

It was just a wow lover was all.

Any graphical, audio, or gameplay restrictions not seen in other mmos but found in FFXIV can be blamed on one thing.

The strong oint of 11 was the endgame content , aparently u didnt get that far, so is normal you didnt get to like the game. The bad side of 11 was that was not solo friendly,( i dont get were you get that your able to solo everythin ,wtf?of course , there was a lot of thins that with a decent player with the addecuated class you could solo some thins , but this was rare cases) and extremely grindy/dificult at end game. Also the game hardware/graphics was really old so couldnt atract new players.

The lv grind was boring as hell.

All i ask of 14 at this point is that they give the same quality end game content they did on 11.Everythin else they have showed so far , already got me convinced ill play it.

I really found it hillarious how - not only that combat is among slowest i ever seen in a mmo in this century, and that both you and enemy stand facing eachother without even moving a inch , and how your enemy just stands there idle and waits to deliver an attack every 10-20 seconds.

    LOL

I am not judging the game. Because i am certan there are many nice things about it.

I just found that extremely funny

Thanks for the video, i am 100% getting this game.

It's more strategic really, you need some time to figure out what your gonna be hit with. This is by no means a button masher, nor was it intended to be.

Other thing is mauraders are generaly slow big hitters, they use an axe which isn't a really fast weapon, and it doesn't do multi-hits, so they take a while to build up TP (needed for about half the abilities on his bar). Casters play a little slow too, that's due to not only cast times (which are a bit faster than shown here generaly, cure takes a while though cause it's a powerful AOE heal), but it's smart MP management. If you want faster combat look towards a pugilist or lancer.

Also being level 10 doesn't give you a lot of points to play with when you choose your abilities so you have to take that into acount as well. You get a better picture around level 14 or so when you have some sway to play with in the points.

You are of course entitled to your opinion, I just thought I'd give a different take on it, thanks for reading.

  • grapevinegrapevine Member UncommonPosts: 1,927

It is not strategic, at all.  At its core the combat is no different to any typical mmo, just slower.

    good, don't play, go away.

You are most likely one of those people that would contribute to the degradation of the community of the game anways.

That sounds just like a Final Fantasy game to me, wouldn't want it any other way. Not that I plan on playing this or anything, but I would think the series demands it to be that way, it's kind of what makes FF - FF to me lol.

a level 10 warrior in WoW has alot more action than   i see in this  FFXIV video, really

disregard this comment please. there is no WoW, its just a fabrication of 11million peoples mind. its the biggest group think screwover next to religion.

Wow = skill spamming and gear >  actual skill imo ( played the game for 2 years so im not just speaking randomly) The time where u neeeded the most skill was when you were doing raid bosses or maybe some pvp.

ffxi and ffxiv = actual skill  > skill spamming and gear (the reason gear is in this second category is because it was important, but not to the point where it could break your char. ive seen lvl 75's do fine in thier lvl 60 relic armor, but wearing lvl 10 gear will break your char though lol). in ff series you need skill 90% of the times even against regular mobs.

so long story short, WoW was based on fast combat action, and ff series is based on slower combat with more thought into combat. please dont compare the two when it comes to combat.

lol what the hell dude, i don't compare anything.  i just say that a level 10 warrior in WoW delivers more action then the character i see in the video.  excuse me  <.<

If it were left to fanboi's we'd not have seen the improvements they have made in beta 3.

     that isnt true

Yes it is.  I'm not saying SE didn't listen to the feedback, simply that if the only feedback had come from the fanbois they'd have changed nothing.  As by them the game was perfect anyway.

Its getting quite laughable that a few feel they need to defend something that needs drastic improvements, simply because they had high hopes and don't want to admit to being let down.

I wanted to play this game. I really did.

I just don't have the time to spend that long killing single enemies.

Killing time for an average mob at this rate is what? One minute ? Even more ?

Since the game will not have PvP, the slow PVE combat could lead to a terrible grind feeling. "Go kill 30 species of X", with each X representing 1 minute of axing the target...

Like sports, the faster the execution the more people will watch (watch pro League footbal and compare it with your local team).

What's up with these designers these days? Apparently they live on Mars.

Really do you not realize that this is the rpg part of the mmo?

lol... first time that happened to me, I thought "Oh weak.. he ran away".

About 5 seconds later... 160 damage...

    That was pretty neat :-p

That said, I can attest playing a Pugilist in FFXIV and having been a fan of Monk in FFXI, that the attack speed is a lot faster.. Substantially. I'd say it's on par with many other MMOs I've played.... but it all comes down to how you're playing the character.

If you notice, he's also switching between different attacks/skills on his hotbar between attacks, which is taking time. His stamina bar is also full, or close to it, through a lot of that video. When I'mfighting, my stamina bar remains a about 1 or 2 attacks away from empty at all times... though I can wait a few moments in between and let it fill up more first.

The combat is a lot more in the hands of the players this time around. I, personally, love it.

Only thing I think is an inevitability that I'm not looking forward to is, despite all the combinations of skills you train and equip to have available to you while you play, guaranteed, before long there are going to be "required" cookie-cutter builds. If you're going Lancer, you will be expected to have leveled "X, Y and Z" class to get specific skills, or "you're gimped". The same will go for other classes. I'm not looking forward to it... just facing reality.

Massively Multiplayer Online -- I see no "massive" SC2 games going on. Pretty small. I actually get larger Counter-Strike games going.

As stated, online doesn't = MMO. The term MMO doesn't even make sense without following what type of game it is; mmoFPS, RPG, etc.

Massively Multiplayer Online => A BIG ONLINE WHAT THO!?

Next time just say "online game."

What are you talking about? They have up to 1-12 players in a game. They have custom games, where you can do scripting to create your own game mode. You guys need to do a bit of research, before you post. It just makes your intelligence as comparable to  a retard.

That's in fact your own opinion. SC2 has "massive" games going on, but that's just me. Maybe it's because my penis is only 2 inches  ,that's why I think three players are a lot,
