I just dont ever get the whole release in asia before NA/Europe concept. They will make WAY more $ from the NA playerbase yet they develop and balance games based on the asian market the same way Aion did and failed because of it.
Also a first half 2011 release will be bad for Tera because Rift which looks awesome will also be out around then and ill have to decide if its worth it to buy the CE of both
Sorry but Rift suck asses if you ask me, is a point to click wow clone. The only true competitor of TERA i see is Ncsoft Blade & Soul, but will be released later in the 2011.

I wouldnt count Rift out yet but yeah ... for now I agree? Its looks like absolute crap and ive yet to hear anything I could give a rats ass about in Rift. Only game whose gameplay looks as good as TERA's is GW2 (actually looks even better for now). Maybe TOR, but TOR looks like crap as well with the single player b/s and pets for everyone.
"A last aspect about the elected officials political system I should talk about is that they end up in one of two major groups. Since there aren’t really any factions like Alliance or Horde in Tera -- because the story is about different races teaming up against a common enemy that threatens the world they inhabit -- it’s likely that a lot of PvP will focus around rivalry between these two groups."
I would assume that would play a bigger role on the PvE servers really. In an open world PvP setting the majority of the PvP is always someone hunting something and someone else coming up and ganking them while they're already fighting a mob.

Sure that will happen in any open world pvp system, but that is thinking on a small scale pvp side of things and not really looking at the bigger picture. Competitive pvp guilds will roll on the pvp servers and there focus will be about fighting other guilds for lordships & kingships on each continent. If they don't...well they really can't be called pvp guilds now can they!!

i dont understand were you people are getting your info.
1.This game is not made by ncsoft or published by them get that out of your head. It is published by enimasse enertainment and developed
by Bluehole studios.
2. this game is not ran on the source engine vindictus is there was a legal dispute between this company and ncsoft and it was settled.
also vindictus is not done by eather developer. also the people saying that they are so sure that blade and soul will launch this year look more into it and you awill find that they are looking at a possible Q4 2011 but prob not gana happen till q1 or q2 of 2012.
no it aint published by NCsoft , but guess where the people behind Enmasse + Bluehole have been before?

answer is : NCsoft.
Also from Blizzard, Dragon Age, Mass Effect and other stuff. Seems pretty good doesn't it?

They also have the guy who created Arenanet (also created Starcraft and Warcraft and developed the online code for Diablo while he was at Blizzard), people from Bungie, Microsoft, EA and Bioware.
But i guess it's more fun if we pretend there's problems where there aren't.
Interestingly thought, BHS/NHN have brought the Korean releases forward from 2011 to Q4 2010.
So maybe they will bring the NA/EU releases forward again too.
I think the reason for the slower release date for the Western markets is Bluehole's uncertainty over using the NCsoft model of centralized development with minimal localization for individiual markets. With the complete failure of Aion and really all NCsoft games outside of Asia I think they are worried more market-specific customization needs to be done for a game to be successful worldwide. My guess is that the Western release date is going to be highly dependent on how much market customization Bluehole decides to add.
I rather they pushed the date back for a much polished game rather than rushed to meet the deadline for a half baked game.. like FFXIV...
Just about every noob says the same thing you just said, yet the game comes out half finished anyways. A delay doesn't mean anything, we don't even know how far along they are in the development process. Will the end game content be there at release? Who knows.

We can only guess.
Personally, I don't care that much for having tons of endgame at launch. I would preferably just have a very solid, great, polished client and game, more than unlimited endgame content. If the game is even close to what I just said and if I have a great experience leveling my character, I can easily wait 2-3 months or even longer for an larger content upgrade/patch.
However, I can understand why people doesn't agree with me here. After all, it's just my preference and opinion. I just prefer having fun all the way to max level, instead of having a bad or mediocre experience and a somewhat "good" or "better" experience at endgame.
From my own experience with Tera, I can say that 1-20 is great fun, all IMO of course. I can't speak on anything besides my own opinions here, and sadly I have no experience or thoughts on the more higher levels of gameplay.

With no endgame you lose a lot of player base, history has proven that time and time again. Sure if the game is good it will retain a hardcore group but it just ends up being one of those under populated MMOs. I played the FGT2 as well and enjoyed it but was way too early to tell if it would be a worth while MMORPG. And by that I mean something you can get stuck into for a year or two.

While I agree with that, I will mention a few things on the subject.
Look at most recent MMO's, a large quantity(read most) of players are leaving before even reaching to endgame level. The game itself has to be polished, fun and complete for people to even reach and experience the endgame.
Edit: Which reminds me, just look at WoW's Cataclysm expansion. Which one of it's main purpose is to update and enhance the leveling experience so it fits with the rest of the games quality and standard. With that said, I can quote on only one of the several articles on this subject:
"Blizzard CEO Mike Morhaime said earlier today that 70% of people playing on a WoW trial account fail to progress past level 10 in the game."
(For different purposes, if you haven't heard or just don't believe me. Here is the source)
Which ultimately means: Endgame is definately not the answer to everything. Leveling experience is probably more important since without a good one, people wont reach the higher levels.
