Whats wrong with that i loved how they run on 4 legs :) ?

It's hard to judge it just from the video, but it'll look awkward in towns and how your character would bend down just to move a few feet, rather than just running normally.  That's just my opinion, though.

It's just something that'll annoy me.

We've seen vids of them doing both two legged and 4 legged running....

    This is not a game.

I think the last part was the charr getting a quest to go get some harpy glands for perfume.... now that.... is a fetch quest...

Actually it wasn't a quest. It was an event started by the charr player by talking to the asura. But Anet probably will clarify things tomorrow.

Its just race Charr ( they are beast man ). So they run on all 4

Also . It seems there are two versions of running. With weapons drawn and weapons sheathed ( which is faster run) that one is on all 4

And actually i think it will look kick ass in Towns :D

I don't think I've seen a vid of a Charr running on two legs without its weapon out.

    Nice content

    Bad video quallity

Its about time now that Arennet brings out a gameplay video itselves with explanations to jutify the game even more

Hmmm... I have been rather lookiong forward to GW 2 but that video put me off a bit. It seemed very.... arcade-like.

Yea it is more likely that it is an event, initially I didn't even see the asura there.... it looked like he just walked out of his tent or something.

Not AS good as i thought it was going to be. But since its F2P it looks good.

  • Grotar89Grotar89 Member UncommonPosts: 347

    It is B2P.

Looks good so far. Except the Charr. Why are they running on 4 now? Its really odd to see that after all the time in GW1 where they are bipeds.

They also ran on 4 in GW1 but as said earlier they don't run like that when they have their weapons out.

    Looks pretty smooth.

Though I'm definitely not a fan of highlighting mobs in green / red...

The map also looks positively huge, though that isn't always indicative; he did use a teleport function, which I personally hope you won't be able to use too often in the game, teleporting around isn't too good for a sense of vastness imo.

Feel free to use my referral link for SW:TOR if you want to test out the game. You'll get some special unlocks!

The Charr are never seen running without their weapon. So I'm guessing that in reality Charr have always ran on fours without their weapon. But because of the fact we never seen a charr running without a weapon unsheathed we never knew.

The combat is better than some other games. The fact that it will be without monthly fee doesn't mean anything since even if it was the combat would be the same. That is a rather stupid and game recist comment (couldn't think of another word). Thats like saying that a game can get away with something because it requires a fee, like "ohh World of Warcraft/Warhammer/Ryzom/etc have horrendous graphics and animations but its consider modern and unique because its P2P."

And the Charr running on 4 legs is quite unique and original and doesn't put off the race in any posible way. They are humanoid beasts, it would be even shittier if they could run like that on GW 1 and suddenly on GW2 they can't because its not "realistic".

    Eagerly awaiting better gameplay video.

Is that your assumption, or did the devs say this?

Well, you can see them 4 legging in the original trailer...

You are right, but it still could be that I missed something that the devs had said and you were referring to that. Not everyone on these forums is nuanced. It was an honest question.

Not sure, I might be confusing trailers with GW1 gameplay.... who knows...

Oh... Sorry if I sounded harsh. Hard to tell which question is an honest question with all these trolls and haters running around in these forums.

Um yeah I don't think the devs have mentioned anything about them only running on 4s while having their weapons sheathed. I just made an assumption.

Well I thought it was a decent video aside from the quality but whats to be expected when its basically a cam video? Keep in mind we dont know how far along in development the game actually is so a lotta the lil gripes people may have from that may not be there in the beta, much less final product. Also some of these annoyances,  like the mobs being highlighted and the mini map location, may be something that can be changed in the ui options later on. Take the video for what it is but try to hold judgements till there actually something to judge imo. Hell look at FFXIV  its about a month from launch and the beta is really upsetting more people than I thought it would and it is actually almost released. Just food for thought.

RIP Jimmy "The Rev" Sullivan and Paul Gray.
