I would have no problem people bashing the game because of the 5 class choices, the races they'll have, the setting, the 4e ruleset, etc.  That's all personal preference and they are entitled to their opinions.  But to simply bash the company, I don't understand.  (Disclaimer:  I did not play STO.)

And for all the "sandbox" complainers out there, I would think they would be ecstatic.  They are trying something slightly different.  Give them props.

The problem is that anyone looking to play the game will need to deal with the company since they will need to log on to a server to play. Additionally, bug fixes, new content, etc will all be available through the company. Now, via CO and STO, the company has upset a reasonable number of people and established a fairly recent trend of just not being that awesome. Anyone looking at the previous two releases is well within their right to be critical/skeptical of the company developing this title. For many, the company and the game are not mutually exclusive items as one directly reflects on the perceived potential of other.

As far as how long they will develop this, they stated it was being released in tandem with R.A. Salvatore's new book which is scheduled for next year I believe. So, that gives a clue at least.

Still, who knows? Maybe we'll all be surprised for the better :)

If they keep the awesome charachter development and flexible multi-class system that made NWN what it is/was, it could be interesting. Otherwise it will be abject junk.
