#1 on the hype meter at mmorpg.com is a CURSE!

    Dark and Light?

    Age of Conan?

    Warhammer Online?

    Aion?

Did i mention Dark and Light...?

The track record from this website shows to avoid the #1 ranked game on the hype meter :P

They should just remove that thing from this site,  It really serves no purpose.

    Gratulations?

You do realize gratz is shorthand for congratulations; not gratulations.

    Anyways, what is 8.70.?

Why would you think this game would kill WoW? It may be a very good game, and I'm looking forward to it, however, that doesn't mean WoW is going to die.

You'd have a point, except every other game also sucked.

    Long story short, it won't.

Longer version:  WoW won't be killed by any MMO. The only way to kill WoW would be Blizzard shuting down the servers. Oh, and GW2 won't have subscription. Don't get me wrong, no subscription doesn't mean it won't be a better game, and I'm actually pretty sure it will be, but without subscription people don't have to choose. They can play both.

And this post is coming from Guild Wars fanboy.

WoW killer is a myth. GW2 will celebrate a fantastic player base and a much larger community than many other online games.

However, just as WoW killed... no other games - GW2 will also kill zero games.

MMORPG games don't work like movies/box office releases. Seriously, look it up. WoW didn't kill anything, the only reason the term was even invented is because of the mass outcry from WoW players that they would rather play WoW than all the other mess on the market at the time. I tend to agree with those people even having quit WoW due to redundancy a year ago.

There is no such thing as a WoW killer.....  WoW will have a huge playerbase for the years to come, most people will not easilly leave a game they invested huge time in...

GW2 will not have subs, only box sales.. so it will be hard to compare the numbers to wOw. But, i would not be surprised as in less then a year from now there will be more people logged intoo GW2 then there will be logged intoo WoW any time of the day..

People that beleive games on number 1 of MMORPG's hype list will fail, should have bigger worries, judgement day is uppon us and the world as we know it will come to an end, thats the only reason i can think of why GW2 would fail.

The lack of innovation and bordom will be the demise of wow and not some other game.

It takes time for MMO players to realise they got bored with their current game...

With your first MMO, that takes longest, it took me 3 years with both EQ and DAoC to realise i got bored with it.. WoW took not even 1 1/2 year to realise the same. After that i never could play any longer then a few months..

After a break  i am a more casual player now and i can enjoy a few hours in almost any MMO out there without getting bored as long as it doesn't give me that grinding feeling.

So as long as WoW can attract new players to the MMO genre, they will never die, as new players stick longest to a game. If GW2 takes over the function of pulling new players to the genre, it will take years for WoW to slowly decline... by then the developers have had enough time to implement all of GW2's innovations and even a lot more new stuff.

I dont understand why people keep looking for another game to kill WoW I'm a long time GWer I play it still almost religiously but the only thing thats going to kill WoW is blizzard, when they start getting tired of it they'll start doing stupid things to it like what EA did to UO or what SOE did to SWG but it just takes time for this to happen, but right now I'm just waiting for ANet to announce when close beta is going to start til now an then enjoy the nice wether we've been having lately.

when players start calling a game the WoW killer, you know hype has taken a wrong turn. Dont mindlessly give into such hype, it will never happen. I personally dont care if WoW lives or dies, because all my gaming focus is going to be on Guild wars 2, not a game I dislike.

    ^What they said^

WoW isn't going anywhere anytime soon, nor does it need to. I hate this kind of mindless hype.

Reasons why WoW isn't going anywhere. Solid/polished gameplay, constant updates, expansions, and the big one, a massive playerbase. Its reached critical mass, basically.

It caters to a play style, let it. Play whatever the hell you want, I know I will be playing GW2. Frankly, I don't give a flying fuck what other people are playing unless I'm friends with them. I don't need validation that I made the 'right' choice, because I will have made the one that is fun for me. Nothing else matters. I just wish more people took that to heart.

There will be no Wow killer. Just like Wow weren't the EQ killer.

This is just one of the games that has the chance to take the torch as Wow slowly fades to a small game for retro fans like EQ is today. The only thing the charts prove is the fact that the game has gotten the interest of the players and that in itself is good and probably say that this game will at least sell as well as the first game but from that decide that it will force Blizzard to close down Wow is just a fantasy.

We need a filter that blocks any comment that contains a WOW, followed by a killer. An added bonus would be an immediate ban after.
